“Load the Harry Potter main character template!”
As the S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters and its iconic Triskelion building appeared ahead, Hawking silently loaded himself with the Harry template.
Wizard robes, a flying broomstick, an invisibility cloak, and a wand appeared in his hands.
“Hawking, our main task this time is to deliver the evidence of Stryker’s assassination attempt on the president to S.H.I.E.L.D. It’s best to avoid unnecessary conflicts with them,” Professor X reminded upon seeing Hawking activate his abilities.
Hawking smiled obediently and replied, “Professor, I know. I’m just being prepared in case they harbor ill intentions so I can be ready to retaliate immediately.”
Professor X nodded, seeing the logic in his words.
“Mr. Stryker must be thirsty by now. Here, have some water.”
At that moment, Hawking suddenly produced a bottle of water from a gap beside him and slowly twisted it open.
“What a kind-hearted child,” Professor X commented with a look of appreciation, temporarily releasing Stryker, whom he had immobilized like a wooden figure.
Though Stryker was despicable, Hawking could put aside his prejudices and offer him water, a gesture Professor X admired.
Meanwhile, Mystique, who was driving, and Magneto, sitting in the passenger seat, exchanged glances upon hearing the noise behind them, using their peripheral vision to monitor the situation via the rearview mirror.
Previously, Hawking had asked him for a type of water-soluble poison that could be deadly upon ingestion, claiming it was to kill Stryker.
Now, it seemed Hawking was about to make a move.
However, he couldn’t understand why—if Hawking were to poison Stryker at this moment, it would surely upset Charles and be hard to explain to S.H.I.E.L.D. This didn’t seem to match the young Hawking’s intelligence.
Nevertheless, if a rift developed between Hawking and Charles, it would be an opportune moment for him to intervene as a third party.
Or perhaps Hawking had another plan?
“Flavivirdon!”
Using his large wizard robe as a cover, Hawking, while opening the water bottle, poured a small tube of blue liquid into it and then gently waved his wand over the bottle, quietly casting a transformation spell.
The water turned blue from the poison and instantly reverted to its straightforward and pure form.
Then, smiling, he handed the restored water bottle to Stryker, who had just regained control of his body.
Stryker grabbed the water bottle and gulped it down eagerly.
He had been immobilized by Professor X throughout the journey, without anything to eat or drink, and was now both hungry and thirsty.
Seeing Stryker finish the water, Professor X, wary of any trouble, quickly used his powers to immobilize him again.
Magneto narrowed his eyes, sensing something was amiss.
“Has he given up? No, there must be something wrong!”
The blue liquid that Mystique had fetched from the academy was a highly toxic poison that could kill an average person with just one drop.
If Hawking weren’t poisoning Stryker, then it wouldn’t make sense for him to be so kind as to give him water—unless he had poisoned it. But why did Stryker seem fine after drinking it?
Considering Hawking’s sudden use of his powers, all he could guess was that Hawking might have used some ability he was unaware of.
“All set.”
Seeing Stryker down the water bottle, Hawking knew his plan had succeeded.
Killing Stryker was simple; the key was to do it without letting Professor X or S.H.I.E.L.D. find out.
Thus, stryker had to die after they left S.H.I.E.L.D., which was a bit tricky.
So, he reviewed the various spells he had learned at school from Harry’s memories.
Magic in the world of Harry Potter is fascinating, with some spells displaying distinct characteristics.
For instance, the Killing Curse emits a green light beam, the Disarming Charm a blue beam, the Blasting Curse a red beam, ropes fly out with the Binding Spell, and arrows are shot with the Arrow Shooting Spell.
Some spells are virtually symptomless during casting as long as the wand is not too close to the target.
Such as the Repairing Spell, Levitation Charm, Transformation Spell, Full Body-Bind Curse, and Sleeping Spell.
And very few, like the Summoning Charm Harry used in the Goblet of Fire to summon his broomstick from the dormitory, don’t even require the wand to be pointed directly; you just need to think of the object, and it can be summoned to you within a specific range.
Of course, this assumes no one interferes, and you’re not in a completely enclosed space.
However, even if he performed a symptomless spell inside S.H.I.E.L.D. that led to Stryker
‘s death, Nick Fury would immediately suspect they used some mutant ability to kill Stryker.
After some thought, he used the Transformation Spell to resolve the issue.
The Transformation Spell allows for the changing of an object’s form.
If mastered, this spell can transform inanimate objects into other inanimate objects, inanimate objects into living beings, living beings into inanimate objects, or one type of living being into another.
For example, a match is transformed into a needle, water into tea, or rum in the first year.
In the second year, I transformed a beetle into a button, a rabbit into a slipper, and a table into a pig.
In the third year, they learned about Animagi, transforming from human to animal.
In the fourth year, they practiced cross-species transfiguration, like turning a guinea fowl into a guinea pig.
So, although Harry wasn’t particularly adept at the Transformation Spell, turning poison into pure water—a first-year level task—was still quite manageable for him.
And since Hawking had loaded the template, he could do it too.
As for why? That has to do with the specifics of the Transformation Spell, governed by Gamp’s Law of Elemental Transfiguration, which states that you can conjure something from nothing, especially food.
And when transforming one thing into another, depending on the wizard’s mastery of the spell, there are time limits; the transformation isn’t permanent and doesn’t indeed turn into something else.
Like how Hawking turned the poison into pure water, which remained in Stryker’s stomach until the spell wore off and then reverted to poison.
Given Harry’s mastery of the Transformation Spell, maintaining the effect for three to four hours was feasible.
This means that Stryker might look fine now, but in three to four hours, when the spell’s effect wore off, the water in his stomach would instantly turn back into poison and take his life.
This was the mysterious magical murder Hawking had prepared for S.H.I.E.L.D.!
The car stopped beneath the S.H.I.E.L.D. building, and as the five exited the vehicle, Agent Hill, accompanied by a group of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, came forward with a smile.
“Mr. William Stryker is now under our custody. Director Fury is waiting on the top floor for you four,” she said.
“No problem, please lead the way,” Professor X nodded, not preventing the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents from taking Stryker.
Although Stryker remained silent as he was led away, his eyes betrayed a hint of scorn, not at all worried about falling into the hands of S.H.I.E.L.D.
“Charles, this is a mistake,” Magneto remarked, shaking his head as he observed, but soon he saw Hawking wink at him…
