On the second floor of the hospital, there was a specialized medical laboratory operated by the Umbrella Corporation. To facilitate experiments, Alice, who had been in a coma, was moved here by Umbrella staff.
“Ugh…” Alice groaned heavily as she awoke from her unconscious state.
Anesthetics in her bloodstream made her feel unwell all over.
Bright lights shone on Alice, covered only by a towel, as she sat up from the experimental chair.
Numerous tubes attached to her body caused Alice intense pain.
“Ahh!” Alice cried out in pain as she forcefully removed the needles.
The room was spacious, containing only lighting and a few pieces of equipment.
As Alice woke up, the laboratory door opened under the control of the Umbrella staff. The intention was to let Alice out for testing, which inadvertently made it easier for Tony, who pushed the door open and entered.
Alice, still seated, turned her gaze to Tony. His full gear immediately made her think of the Umbrella Corporation.
Instinctively, her eyes scanned the floor for any potential weapons to use.
“Alice?” Tony addressed the nearly naked woman before him, “You look much better than in your photos.”
Finding no weapon, Alice jumped from the examination table, ignoring her nudity, and delivered a sidekick towards Tony.
Tony raised his right hand and quickly caught Alice’s leg.
“I’ve hacked the surveillance here, so if you prefer to stay undressed, I don’t mind.”
Alice forcefully retracted her leg and stepped back, eyeing Tony warily. “Who are you?”
“If I were you, I wouldn’t ask such a foolish question,” Tony replied, his right hand projecting an image from his forearm into the air.
“The entire city has descended into chaos. The rapid spread of zombies has cost countless lives. I assume you know something about these matters.”
As Tony spoke, the video displayed scenes of zombies wreaking havoc.
“Zombies! The virus has finally leaked!” Alice glanced at the projection and headed towards the door. “The T-virus, it’s all because of the T-virus.”
“So, where are you planning to go now?”
“To find some clothes, you big chunk of metal,” Alice retorted, glancing at Tony.
“You’ve got spirit,” Tony chuckled, finding the mission increasingly attractive.
With Tony’s protection, Alice felt no need to rush out.
The two exchanged information throughout their search, with Alice mostly speaking and Tony listening.
At the hospital entrance, Alice, now in a lab coat and carrying a medical kit, looked back at Tony.
Given his exaggerated gear, it would be logical to assume that only an Umbrella employee would have such equipment, yet Alice intuitively felt Tony was not associated with Umbrella.
“Alice, a former Umbrella employee.”
“Tony Stark, I guess you could call me a mercenary.”
They introduced themselves.
“Stark, I want to know what your equipment can do,” Alice said as they walked.
Zzzt!
A laser shot from Tony’s right hand, slicing a scrapped car at the door cleanly in two.
“There, it can keep going until it overheats,” Tony remarked, looking at the fiery wreckage.
Observing the blaze, Alice fell silent momentarily before turning to Tony, “If you’re a mercenary, what’s your mission?”
“To save people and take lives.”
“Then you’re quite the hero,” Alice noted, her tone laced with unspoken sarcasm.
“Hero, I hope so,” Tony responded, his gaze distant as if lost in thought, “What about you? What’s your plan?”
“I don’t know, but we need to get out of here first, especially if a nuclear strike is coming,” Alice said, her head throbbing as vague memories flickered in her mind.
Due to Tony’s noise creating a firestorm, zombies in the vicinity began to converge at their location.
“If you can control all the surveillance, can you find Jill at the police station?” Alice asked as they ran.
“Jill? Find her? Why?” Tony activated his jet system, keeping pace with Alice.
“She was involved in a similar leak case before; I saw her records in the Hive!” Alice eyed the flying Tony incredulously—was he flying solo?
“No problem!”
Jarvis frantically searched for Jill’s presence. Finding her was straightforward, as only one female named Jill was at the police station.
“They’re at the church. Follow me!” Tony said, landing from the air.
The jet propulsion was disappointing; its energy consumption was too severe for such a complex terrain. The running efficiency in the Mark armor was not significantly lower than flying.
Alice hopped onto a motorcycle parked at the curb, the keys still in the ignition, and they sped off towards the church.
Jill, Peyton, and others were facing three Lickers at the church.
After killing two, they ran out of bullets.
Just when despair set in
, the motorcycle’s headlights shone on the church glass.
Bang! The glass shattered as the motorcycle crashed through, and Alice had not even had time to fire when two lasers shot out behind her.
The lasers precisely hit a Licker, slicing it into three parts.
Even in pieces, the Licker continued to twitch on the ground.
“Tony! The head!” Alice shouted crisply.
The following laser hit precisely on the Licker’s skull, obliterating it.
Tony and Alice, like deities descending, completely stunned Jill and the others.
After landing, Tony’s faceplate opened, and he looked at Jill, “Jill? I hope I’ve got the right person.”
“It’s me.” Jill nodded, acknowledging the fully-armed Tony.
“Good, we’ve found our people. Now we must get out of here,” Tony continued.
“The armor’s energy isn’t enough to carry everyone one by one; we don’t have enough time in one night!”
“Do you know of any way out of here?” Alice asked Jill.
“The bridge has already been blocked…”
While they were talking, Jarvis brought in new information.
“Someone is trying to control the surveillance system. Should I terminate it?”
“Where is the signal coming from?”
“Outside Raccoon City,” Jarvis marked the signal point on the map.
“Terminate…” Tony’s words were cut off as the primary god space prompt arrived.
【Do you want to start the side mission, find Angela…】
Tony paused for two seconds, then accepted the mission, “Jarvis, connect to the signal source, limit to the armor.”
“Hello? Who’s there?” Tony amplified his voice.
Everyone in the church turned their attention to Tony, and a nearby journalist professionally aimed their camera at him.
