“Like us?”
The punk seemed dismissive. He didn’t think much of a deserter.
Years of peace had likely dulled his edge even if number seven was talented.
Dodging bullets was impressive, and his perception was exceptional among experiments, but today, he faced a far stronger opponent.
The punk’s squad didn’t need their captain; his men could handle the target easily.
Bang!
As expected, after a few gunshots, the team signalled the mission accomplished.
Yawning, the punk looked at his radio, disdainful for the commanders, “Wasting our time on a runaway test subject. I’d love to blow their heads off.”
Then he saw his blood-soaked teammates struggling out of the building, supporting each other.
“What happened to you guys?” Just as he was about to mock their condition, his face twisted in shock, a faint blue lightning emanating from his body.
The next second, Sasuke, disguised, looked up. His black eyes shimmered with silver light, seemingly gathering invisible power.
Mental Impact, activate!
Suddenly, blood spurted from the punk’s ears, nose, and mouth as if someone had hammered his head.
He staggered, losing control of the electricity coursing through him.
Seeing this, fully recovered Sasuke shot the punk in the knee, the Black Star’s deadly power shattering the man’s right leg.
“You have strange abilities, but your physical defense is average.” Confirming the man wasn’t a Reincarnator, Sasuke stepped on his left leg, slowly moving the gun to a spot that made the man’s face pale.
“You have three chances to impress me. Your life depends on it.” Sasuke was merciless.
However, the man remained arrogant, looking down on Sasuke forever.
“Defeating us means nothing.”
Bang!
Pain wracked the man as he looked at his bleeding abdomen, screaming in agony.
“You have two chances left.” Sasuke moved the gun to the other intact leg.
Finally recognising the situation, the punk began explaining the mission.
They all belonged to a research institution called “Orphanage.” Sasuke and others were test subjects from there.
Each survivor possessed incomprehensible superpowers, like the punk generating high-voltage electricity.
He didn’t know much about why they were hunting Sasuke, only that he was a defector from years ago.
They aimed to retrieve him if possible; otherwise, they would eliminate him to prevent him from becoming another institution’s research material.
“Seems troublesome,” Sasuke sighed, knowing this was a problem from his past.
Having taken over this body, he had to accept its fate.
The “Orphanage” was a human research facility conducting illegal superpower experiments on children.
With Reincarnation Space existing, superpowered beings in reality weren’t surprising to Sasuke.
Accepting it, he decided not to waste more time.
Shooting the punk’s head, Sasuke ascended the stairs, planning to return to the Reincarnation Space from an empty spot.
He needed more strength before seeking out the Orphanage’s location.
Back in the space, Sasuke found himself with nothing to do.
With only about 50 plot points left, he couldn’t afford further training or purchases.
Bored, he considered starting the next storyline world early.
The shortest interval was one day, the longest a month. He aimed to minimise his downtime to catch up with the leading group.
Just as he was about to contact the space, a prompt indicated someone requesting entry to his room.
Recognising the guide, Tiger, Sasuke allowed him in.
Tiger’s impression was good, and joining his team might have been a good choice if not for Sasuke’s unique situation.
Tiger quickly extended an invitation after some casual chat.
“The Vanguard has a great atmosphere, less scheming. You’re smart, you know the value of trustworthy teammates.”
Though straightforward, his words hit the mark. It wasn’t his first recruitment attempt.
“Sorry, my friend.” Sasuke shook his head firmly, “I can’t join the Vanguard. I have my plans.”
“Understood,” Tiger smiled, offering personal advice, “I admire you, so here’s some help.”
“Your perception is high, likely to reach 20 bare soon.”
Sasuke, noting his bare 13 points in mental strength, knew he could reach the one-difficulty world’s peak in two worlds.
Tiger continued, “At 20 bare points, you get a chance to draw a trait.”
Oh?
Sasuke didn’t know this. He only knew reaching 20 required completing a golden main quest, or he couldn’t increase attributes further.
Even plot rewards would be reduced, with quests becoming significantly harder.
“Drawn traits are useful, but don’t rush. It’s best if two attributes reach the peak simultaneously.”
Sasuke understood immediately.
“Two attributes at 20 will yield stronger traits?”
His Steel Heart was a legendary trait, its power undeniable. Acquiring more would significantly boost his strength.
Plus, another thought echoed in Sasuke’s mind.
If he raised Strength, Agility, Constitution, Mental, and Perception to 20, the traits gained would be…
