[Disciple Uchiha Obito has set a training mission]
[Training Mission: Achieve first place in the Ninja Academy’s practical exam]
[Reward: Based on mission completion and strength growth during the mission]
[Disciple Might Guy has set a training mission]
[Training Mission: Achieve first place in the Ninja Academy’s practical exam]
[Reward: Based on mission completion and strength growth during the mission]
Seeing the sudden pop-up messages, Mokutsuki fell into deep thought.
He wasn’t sure what had triggered these missions, but the result was excellent.
Double training missions, combined with the exam rewards, guaranteed that his chakra would break into five digits by the end of the semester.
Unfortunately, there couldn’t be a tie for first place in the practical exam. There would always be a clear first and second place, meaning one mission reward would be slightly lesser.
“If I ensure one of them can’t participate in this exam and postpones it to the next term, would that be better?” Mokutsuki seriously considered this idea.
He was confident in making this happen but needed help to guarantee it was the optimal solution. There hadn’t been a situation where two training missions appeared simultaneously before. He assumed a disciple could have only one training mission at a time.
If one disciple deferred their mission to the following term’s monthly exam, there would be almost three months with no new training missions.
Extending the mission duration might increase the base reward, but would completing more training missions yield better overall rewards?
Considering the training mission trigger mechanism, it wasn’t impossible for the second-place disciple to trigger another mission to achieve first place out of dissatisfaction.
Mokutsuki decided to play it by ear, focusing on strengthening both Obito and Guy for the upcoming exam. Regardless of the outcome, increased strength would ensure better rewards.
Tuesday morning, Anko Mitarashi hummed a cheerful tune as she walked to the Ninja Academy.
Having missed school on Monday and the weekend, she hadn’t heard Mokutsuki’s lectures or played with her friends for three days.
So, she was incredibly excited about school today.
“Will Mokutsuki-sensei think I’m sick and ask about it? I wonder if Kotetsu and Izumo won the contest prize. I can’t wait!” Anko thought, making her look forward to school even more.
“She’s Anko Mitarashi, right? One of the talent trio.”
“Yeah, I remember her. She was in second place in the practical exam last time.”
“Second place in the practical exam? That’s impressive. Too bad her thought process is a bit… unusual.”
As Anko approached the school and more students gathered, she noticed many were giving her strange looks.
“Is it that unusual to miss school? Did my absence become big news?” Anko wondered, confused by the stares.
Anko muttered to herself as she walked toward her classroom.
The closer she got, the more unusual the looks became, making her feel something was off.
Entering the classroom, she noticed something strange: Kotetsu and Izumo had their heads buried on their desks as if sleeping.
Usually, they would be discussing how to deal with Kotetsu’s troublesome cousin or talking about girls.
Anko was about to call them when a girl she was friendly with stopped her.
“Anko, you’ve become quite famous at the Academy these past few days,” the girl said, struggling to suppress her laughter.
“Huh? I haven’t been to school. How could I be famous just by taking a day off?” Anko scratched her head, puzzled.
“Did you help develop that jutsu that turns into a chair?” the girl asked, still holding back laughter.
“A chair? Do you mean the Confusion Technique? Well, yes, I helped Kotetsu and Izumo develop it,” Anko replied.
The girl couldn’t hold back anymore and laughed, “Haha, you should ask your two good friends about it.”
“Kotetsu, Izumo, didn’t you sleep well last night?” Now, even more confused, Anko decided to wake them up.
But you can never wake someone who’s pretending to sleep. After calling them several times, Anko resorted to her method.
Realizing they were faking it, Anko punched each of them.
“Are you two hiding something from me?” she asked suspiciously.
Knowing they couldn’t keep pretending, the two opened their eyes.
“It’s all Kotetsu’s fault! He embarrassed himself on stage and dragged us into it,” Izumo quickly explained to Anko the weekend contest.
“He deliberately mentioned our full names loudly. What a betrayal!” Izumo stood beside Anko, angrily pointing at Kotetsu.
Anko clenched her fists. So, it was Kotetsu who embarrassed them publicly.
Seeing Anko’s menacing look, Kotetsu quickly revealed Izumo’s cunning plan: “Anko, don’t listen to him. Yesterday, Izumo suggested we blame everything on you since you weren’t there.”
Anko: …
She turned her gaze to Izumo, her eyes filled with murderous intent.
She had hoped they’d win the prize money and treat her to dango, but both of her good friends had betrayed her.
“You two are the worst! Both of you will get beaten!” Anko grabbed Izumo and Kotetsu.
Knowing they were guilty, the two could only run around the classroom, adding a lively atmosphere.
The commotion only ended when Mokutsuki arrived.
“Mokutsuki-sensei, my reputation is ruined. I’m now known as a talentless weirdo instead of a genius,” Anko complained to Mokutsuki.
“As long as they don’t call you incompetent, it means they still recognize your abilities,” Mokutsuki smiled, comforting her.
“I still prefer being called a genius.”
“Then prove it with your abilities next time.”
“Will there be dango if I do well?”
“If you do well.”
“Yay!” Hearing that doing well would get her dango, Anko instantly brightened up.
At that moment, the bell rang.
“Class is starting,” Mokutsuki began today’s lecture.
He patiently explained the three basic ninjutsu taught at the Academy.
[Lecture completed]
[Evaluation: A]
[Reward: Water Release: Water Formation Wall]
[Under your guidance, Class 1-A students have made significant progress in ninjutsu. You have earned a reward – Proficiency in the Three Basic Jutsu]
At the end of the lecture, besides the usual reward, Mokutsuki received an unexpected one.
“So there are additional rewards,” Mokutsuki mused.
Teaching for over two months it was the first time he received such a reward.
Even though it was just proficiency in the three basic jutsu, it was still helpful in practical situations.
Reflecting on this, Mokutsuki found it quite logical, considering this was a teacher system, not merely a mentor system.
As a teacher, constantly guiding a batch of students and seeing their improvement deserve some reward.
“If I teach more advanced jutsu, will the rewards be better?” Mokutsuki pondered.
The idea was appealing but currently unfeasible, as the Academy’s regulations restricted ninjutsu classes to teaching only the three basic jutsu alongside theoretical knowledge.
Mokutsuki could understand the reasoning behind this regulation.
With forty students in a class, each having different innate chakra natures, it wasn’t practical to expect a single chunin teacher to know jutsu from all five chakra natures. Additionally, student learning abilities varied.
For Mokutsuki, this was fine. He not only knew numerous jutsu but also had the teaching skill enhancement and natural talent for teaching.
However, for his own safety, Mokutsuki couldn’t reveal all his abilities.
“Maybe I should apply to the Third Hokage, asking to take over the taijutsu classes for Class 1-A as well,” Mokutsuki thought, considering placing more emphasis on non-disciple student training.
He recalled that Class 1-A students were dissatisfied with their taijutsu teacher, often complaining about the poor quality and boring lessons.
If Mokutsuki had personally taken over the taijutsu classes, student improvement in taijutsu would have accelerated.
After lunch, contemplating ways to enhance Class 1-A’s strength, Mokutsuki returned to the office.
In the office, a familiar scene from last month was unfolding.
