Daily Life in One Piece Chapter 36

Sorry to Disturb You

“Hmm, Zeff-sensei, why are you looking at me like that?”

Are you doubting my excellence? As the most…handsome person in the history of the recruit camp, I can’t let this slide.

I’ll show you something that’ll amaze you.

Watch and learn what talent truly is. Rokushiki is just a minor skill. If I had known it before, I would’ve mastered it already.

Kami-e

Mosen attempted to relax his body like Zeff demonstrated. But something seemed off. Why couldn’t he control his body? Was this a fake body?

Did Zeff-sensei teach me a fake technique?

Mosen looked at Zeff with a questioning gaze.

“Sensei, what’s wrong? I did it exactly as you showed, but why is the result so different?”

Mosen was sprawled on the ground, looking somewhat dejected.

I only knew how to exert force before, not release it. You just showed me once, and I can’t do it immediately.

“I already said, you can’t release all your strength at once. If you completely relax, how do you control yourself?”

Who claimed to be the most outstanding recruit just now?

“Get up and watch me demonstrate again.”

Zeff shook his head. This was more like it. If you could master all of Rokushiki just by watching once, that would be monstrous.

Though Mosen was still immensely talented, it was within acceptable limits.

“Sensei, there’s no need for another demonstration. How about this? I practice, and you guide me by feeling my muscles.”

Mosen quickly refused Zeff’s suggestion. He saw the pain in Zeff’s face earlier.

After all, he’s over sixty. Despite being strong, his bones and muscles have long set and become rigid and fragile.

I can’t let him keep straining himself.

Mosen, a spry young man of nearly sixteen, felt confident in his physique.

“Sensei, is it like this? Ah, it really does hurt.”

At first, falling to the ground didn’t feel like much. Now, as he managed to control a bit, an excruciating pain coursed through him.

Mosen felt as if his muscles were being torn apart. Hand-torn lamb, anyone?

Zeff placed his hand on Mosen’s shoulder. Mosen had contorted into an odd position, with his left shoulder muscles being pulled outward as if by an invisible force.

His left shoulder thinned out, the muscles seemingly vanishing, adhering closely to the bone.

It looked like paper.

But, damn, it hurt!

No wonder nobody practised this. With Kenbunshoku Haki being more effective, why bother with the agonising and troublesome Kami-e?

Only assassination squads like CP9, where people are treated like tools, would widely use such a technique.

Not learning it? Not learning means death.

Zeff removed his hand from Mosen’s shoulder, a look of approval flashing in his eyes. Mosen was indeed a good student.

“Sensei, you didn’t mention that practicing Kami-e would be this painful.”

Ah, the hardships I endure for my unparalleled handsomeness.

“You didn’t ask. I assumed you knew,” Zeff replied nonchalantly.

Sensei, you’ve changed.

Where’s the kind, gentle, and determined teacher I once knew?

Mosen’s eyes were filled with melancholy, almost suspecting Zeff was Shuzo in disguise.

“Enough playing around. I’ll share my insights on training Rokushiki before I go handle some matters. Get your new training plan from Shuzo later.”

Zeff gave Mosen a light tap on the head, trying to maintain a serious demeanour. Being around Mosen made him feel like he was losing his edge.

That afternoon, when Mosen went to get his new training plan, Shuzo said, “Sensei told me that during your Rokushiki training, I’ll be your sparring partner… I mean, your opponent.”

Mosen’s eyes widened. I can’t believe you! If this weren’t your suggestion, I’d smash a stone on my chest live.

So, the life of mutual struggle begins.

Bring it on. It’s not like I’m scared of you. If I can’t win, I can always run, right?

If only my Devil Fruit power could nullify Haki attacks, I’d fight you head-on. Who’s afraid of a brawl?

That afternoon, Mosen and Shuzo were back on the training grounds.

With their current strength, fighting inside the training room would be perfect for a demolition crew.

One person could do the work of an entire team.

Mosen stood there, gazing at the sky at a 45-degree angle, speaking softly.

“You’re here.”

However…

“Whoa, Shuzo, you shameless sneak attacker!”

Mosen narrowly avoided Shuzo’s attack, feeling both angry and exasperated.

Can’t you even coordinate for a dramatic entrance? Don’t you see all the spectators? This was the perfect moment to show off. This muscle-brained idiot…

Forget it. Mosen decided not to argue with someone who only had muscles in their head.

Boom!!

Shuzo’s Shigan (Finger Pistol) missed Mosen, creating small craters in the ground.

“Hey, Blackface, you think I’m Hello Kitty just because I don’t show my claws?”

Mosen was frustrated. It’s annoying to be interrupted while showing off. This guy just keeps attacking non-stop.

Soru

Shousetsu: Jigoku no Banksou (Carnage: Hell’s Elegy)

With his move, a murderous aura spread around. Mosen had slaughtered countless pirates in the East Blue.

The recruits felt a chill down their spines. Though they had seen combat, close-quarter combat was rare in naval battles.

The ferocity of Mosen’s swordsmanship, honed through killing, was too much for them. Many stepped back instinctively.

Tekkai

“Mosen, such weak slashes won’t harm me. Your swordsmanship is lacking, hahaha.”

Shuzo quickly blocked Mosen’s attack. His Tekkai was highly advanced.

Shigan: Goshigan (Five-Finger Pistol)

Shuzo’s long arm bent unexpectedly, with five fingers simultaneously performing Shigan.

Mosen, foreseeing the attack with Kenbunshoku Haki, dodged with a swift sidestep.

“Shuzo-sensei, your attacks are useless. No matter how strong, they can’t hurt if they don’t hit. Yohoho.”

Mosen taunted, mimicking Borsalino’s mocking tone.

Come on, you think I can’t taunt back? You can’t outdo me!

Shuzo’s face darkened, his moustache twitching. Talking to this kid felt like a waste of time.

“Hope your bones are as tough as your teeth,” Shuzo grumbled, closing in with Soru, swinging a Haki-coated fist.

Mosen sidestepped, Shuzo’s punch hitting the air.

Soru again, Shuzo pursued relentlessly, his Haki-infused fist coming up from below.

Like nails on a chalkboard, a grating metallic sound echoed as Mosen’s sword clashed with Shuzo’s Haki-coated fist.

Suddenly, Shuzo’s other arm bent around from behind.

What the hell? Hand-to-hand combat tricks?

Long arms were indeed troublesome. Mosen bent his knee slightly, jumping to avoid Shuzo.

Geppo

Mid-air, Mosen stumbled and plummeted.

Huh? Where’s my Geppo? Why did it fail? That’s not in the script!

As Mosen regained balance on the ground, a massive Haki-coated fist slammed into his chest.

Boom!!
