On the Vimana, Gilgamesh sat on his throne, gently stroking the black cat form of Yoruichi Shihōin in his arms.
Normally, Yoruichi would have been lulled to sleep by the soothing strokes. But this time, her mind was restless, her cat eyes filled with awe as she looked around the Vimana. She was intensely curious about its origin.
Several times she opened her mouth, but didn’t know how to ask. In her heart, Yoruichi thought, ‘It must be the power of his Zanpakutō, right? As for the spiritual pressure, maybe he has an artifact that can conceal it.’
Yoruichi dismissed the possibility that the Vimana was a divine artifact. Compared to the idea of it being a Zanpakutō, the notion of it being a divine artifact was even more unthinkable. The Shihōin family, known as the “Heavenly Arms House,” possessed many divine artifacts, but none could compare to the Vimana.
Yoruichi couldn’t imagine who could have created such a flawless divine artifact.
Although Renji and Rukia had known about the Vimana and had boarded it before, each time they were still amazed by its grandeur. The Vimana’s speed was not fast, deliberately controlled by Gilgamesh to let Yoruichi experience it more thoroughly.
Through the omniscient star, Gilgamesh knew Yoruichi recognized his ability to be a king, but she didn’t believe he could successfully establish a kingdom. Gilgamesh understood there were many obstacles in his path to nation-building, but he was confident he could overcome them all.
This trip to District 79 was not primarily for territorial expansion. His main purpose was to demonstrate his power to Yoruichi, to show her his capabilities. The Vimana was just the beginning.
Minutes passed, and even though Gilgamesh controlled the speed, the Vimana still flew over the forest and arrived at District 79, Takoyaki.
Takoyaki was similar in size to Inuzuri, but its living conditions were much worse. Theft, brawls, and murders were common. Corpses lay on the streets, and it was nearly impossible for children to survive there. Even adults, after living there for a long time, would suffer mentally.
If District 79 was so terrible, District 80 must be unimaginable, even for Gilgamesh.
The Vimana stopped in the center of Takoyaki, descending slowly. Naturally, it attracted the attention of the residents. They gazed at the golden and emerald vessel, not with awe, but with naked greed. Their eyes, like those of hungry wolves, fixated on the Vimana.
As the Vimana descended, Renji and Rukia finally saw the true state of Takoyaki. Although they had lived in the poverty and hardship of Inuzuri, the sight of Takoyaki left them trembling with fear. The blatant greed in the eyes of the gathered people sent chills down their spines, making their hair stand on end.
Their inner alarms blared, warning them that these were not humans but demons in human guise, urging them to flee.
It was Yoruichi’s first visit to District 79. She had heard about the chaos and wretchedness beyond Inuzuri, but she had never wanted to set foot there. She thought her imagination of District 79 was bad enough, but seeing it with her own eyes, she realized she had underestimated its horror.
This wasn’t a place for people to live; it was hell. Such a place shouldn’t exist in the Soul Society but rather in hell. Souls that came to the Soul Society were not those of great evil in life. Why should they suffer here? They probably imagined a beautiful afterlife, only to find themselves in this nightmare.
Yoruichi’s heart grew heavy, recalling the prosperity she had experienced in the Soul Society. It was truly a contrast of “feasting in mansions while bones froze on the streets.” It was ironic that such a dark abyss existed within the flourishing Soul Society.
As Yoruichi’s mind was in turmoil, Gilgamesh stood up from his throne. The Vimana hovered in mid-air, not landing completely. The gathered criminals below, watching this scene, began to stir, fighting among themselves due to minor friction.
The scene quickly descended into chaos. Limbs flew, and blood dyed the ground red. Renji and Rukia, witnessing this hellish carnage, could hardly bear it. Renji ran to the side and began vomiting, while Rukia was barely holding on.
As Rukia was about to break down, Gilgamesh stepped forward. His face unchanged, his wine-red eyes gleamed coldly. He shouted, “Stop this at once!”
Though Gilgamesh’s voice was young, it carried an authority and dominance that shook everyone. However, the criminals, lost in their frenzy, ignored him completely. Through his omniscient star, Gilgamesh knew these people were puppets of their own greed and violence.
Perfect, Gilgamesh thought. If he could conquer these people, they would be his sharpest tools for expansion. Yoruichi tried to say something, but before she could, Gilgamesh spoke again, “Fools, look to the sky. This is your last chance for mercy!”
Yoruichi didn’t understand what he meant, but she soon saw a golden ripple appear in the sky. A massive sword tip slowly emerged from the ripple. The sword tip alone was larger than Renji, making it hard to imagine the size of the entire sword.
Yoruichi’s eyes widened in shock. “What kind of sword is this?”
“This sword’s name is Ig-Alima, the Cleaving Mountain Sword.”
