Not long ago, a criminal from Takoyaki crossed the forest into Kusajishi. Upon arrival, the first thing they did was to burn, kill, and loot, resulting in the deaths of over a dozen people. It was after this atrocity that Gilgamesh decided to head to Takoyaki to eliminate this threat.
With Kusajishi nearly reaching its limit on what it could offer, it was time to expand the territory. Takoyaki, a place where the strong preyed on the weak, was perfect for Gilgamesh’s conquest. After displaying his power, the conquest proceeded smoothly.
Gilgamesh personally oversaw the transformation of Takoyaki. Under his leadership, the reconstruction progressed rapidly. Meanwhile, Kusajishi’s development was already on track, with the construction of the palace progressing quickly. Gilgamesh only needed to ensure a sufficient water supply. With the Vimana, he could cross the districts in mere seconds, eliminating any concerns.
Renji and Rukia were already involved in the renovation work in Takoyaki. Yoruichi had temporarily left, returning to the World of the Living to consult with Kisuke Urahara. Gilgamesh knew she was headed there and didn’t interfere. Through the omniscient star, he could sense her inner journey, knowing that her loyalty was near.
In the World of the Living, Yoruichi arrived at the Urahara Shop. Upon entering, she heard Kisuke Urahara’s casual voice, “Oh, Yoruichi-chan, long time no see.”
Yoruichi rolled her eyes, “Drop the ‘-chan.’ It’s disgusting.”
Urahara feigned hurt, “The girls in the World of the Living love adding ‘-chan’ to names. I thought you might like it too.”
Ignoring him, Yoruichi got straight to the point, “I’ve investigated and found no connection between Gilgamesh and Aizen.”
Urahara nodded thoughtfully, not revealing his thoughts. Yoruichi continued, recounting her experiences with Gilgamesh in detail. Tessai Tsukabishi, who had quietly approached, listened intently. He had heard of Gilgamesh from Urahara and was intrigued by someone aiming to establish a nation in Rukongai and transform Kusajishi.
When Urahara and Tessai heard about the Vimana, their expressions showed clear shock. Knowing Yoruichi’s discerning eye and taste, they could only imagine the perfection of the Vimana, which even she found indescribable.
As Yoruichi continued, she spoke about the Cleaving Mountain Sword. Urahara’s expression changed at the mention of “Ig Alima.” He quickly grabbed a thick book, flipping through it as he returned to them.
“Found it!” Urahara exclaimed, looking at the information with a serious expression. He explained, “I’ve been researching Gilgamesh and Sumerian mythology. Ig Alima is the second son of the patron deity of the city-state of Lagash and has a brother named Shulshagana. Both are weapons of the war goddess Zababa, the guardian deity of Kish. These weapons are also known as the Green Field Cutting Through the Thousand Mountains and the Horizon of Dawn that Purifies the Seas.”
Yoruichi and Tessai were stunned by this massive revelation. Urahara continued, “From Yoruichi’s description, Gilgamesh’s sword aligns with the mythical weapon, the Green Field Cutting Through the Thousand Mountains, Ig Alima. If it truly matches the legend, then few Zanpakutō in Soul Society’s history could rival its power. Currently, only the oldest and strongest flame-type Zanpakutō, Ryūjin Jakka, might surpass it.”
Like Yoruichi, Urahara assumed Ig Alima was Gilgamesh’s Zanpakutō. He knew human myths were exaggerated tales. If gods existed, the Soul King would be the only true deity. Hence, mythological artifacts couldn’t be real. Only Zanpakutō, forged from a Shinigami’s soul, could possess such power.
If Gilgamesh had connections with Zababa and Ig Alima in his past life, then it was possible his awakened Zanpakutō was Ig Alima. Urahara speculated that if Zababa were real, she was likely a human glorified into a deity for her achievements.
Yoruichi returned to Soul Society with a head full of revelations, while Urahara searched for more information on the Vimana. Perhaps it too was from myth. Days later, Urahara found what he sought, his face filled with shock and disbelief. “This can’t be!”
In that moment, Urahara’s understanding wavered. He envisioned a figure exuding kingly presence, sitting on a throne at the end of history, silently watching him.
This image was Urahara’s mental representation of Gilgamesh. Staring at this figure, Urahara muttered, “Who are you, and why do you possess the Vimana? That belongs not to Sumerian mythology but to Indian mythology.”
“Spanning two mythologies… could you have appeared under another name in Indian mythology too?”
A wild thought emerged in Urahara’s mind. ‘If he is truly Gilgamesh, spanning two mythologies, living for over 6000 years, then perhaps… he might have a solution for the Hōgyoku!’
