At another base of the Survey Corps.
Erwin and the others retreated there last night.
Everyone had suffered severe injuries, making their faces unusually pale and their spirits extremely fatigued.
Upon arriving at this base, everyone immediately rested.
By now, the sky had fully brightened. The sun was rising higher and higher from the horizon.
The patrols were carried out by Pyxis and the others who had come to support them last night.
“Commander, the morale of the Survey Corps members seems very low!”
“Is that you, Rico?”
Pyxis stood by the window, holding a flask. He glanced at Rico and then turned back to look outside.
“Commander, do we really have no hope?”
Rico was silent for a moment before speaking.
Yesterday, the many mindless Titans in Wall Rose and Wall Sina were only completely dealt with now.
But they still hadn’t figured out how those people turned into mindless Titans.
This meant that the danger was still lurking.
No one could guarantee that yesterday’s scene wouldn’t happen again.
“I don’t know.”
Pyxis also needed to be recovered.
Last night, he had seen Erwin display an expression he had never seen before—one of helplessness and despair.
This wasn’t the Erwin he knew.
“Rumble…”
“Commander, do you hear that noise?”
Rico suddenly heard a rumbling sound that was getting louder and closer.
“This is bad.”
Pyxis remembered what Armin had told him last night about how Tang An had attacked them.
“Quick… quickly notify everyone to leave here.”
Pyxis rushed out of the office and looked up at the sky, seeing the rapidly descending colossal Titan’s body. His eyes widened in horror as he yelled.
The entire base descended into chaos.
“Boom…”
Like a missile explosion, the colossal Titan crashed, erasing the entire base. The powerful shockwaves spread, and many didn’t even have time to scream before being crushed into a pulp.
But it wasn’t over.
“Boom…”
Golden lightning connected heaven and earth as the second colossal Titan’s body plummeted like a meteor.
Five minutes later, the third body crashed down.
Ten minutes later, the fourth body followed, wildly falling.
The entire base had wholly disappeared, turned into a sea of steam and fire. The surrounding ground had risen into hills, with cracks spreading like spiderwebs.
Tang An landed, his cheeks stained with the blood left by his Titan transformation, breathing heavily.
Gripping his kukri knives, Tang An surveyed the sea of fire. The four colossal Titan bodies emitted intense steam, partially obstructing his view.
Tang An was unprecedentedly vigilant, searching through the steam.
Along the way, he saw many corpses with unseeing eyes, some torn apart by the shockwaves, with various internal organs and flesh scattered across the ground, dismembered limbs everywhere.
Tang An’s eyes were cold as he stood before the remaining half of Pyxis’s face. The rest of his body was nowhere to be seen, and even his head was only half intact.
After a careful search, Tang An frowned.
He hadn’t seen Erwin, Armin, Eren, or others.
Could they not be here?
“What’s that?”
Just as Tang An thought Eren and the others weren’t there, he noticed a flash of light in the distant rubble.
It was the color of hardening.
“Crack…”
Tang An’s thumb cut his index finger, and golden lightning surrounded him as he transformed into the Armored Titan. His name was also covered in hardening, and he began to stride toward the rubble.
He remained cautious, refusing to expose any vulnerabilities, especially after suffering.
Standing before the rubble, Tang An lifted some debris,
revealing a giant cocoon formed by hardening. As expected, it was created by Eren’s Attack Titan, likely protecting Armin, Zhou Wei, and the others.
Armin and the others wore terrified expressions inside the hardened cocoon, clearly sensing the commotion outside.
“What do we do?”
Sasha’s eyes filled with tears of fear; the demon was right outside.
Eren’s hardening could only protect them for so long.
Everyone hung their heads, knowing they were doomed.
Zhou Wei, covered in bandages, also felt a wave of despair.
In front of his eyes was a screen only he could see, filled with his data.
The exchange points on it were at zero, meaning he couldn’t exchange for anything.
Reincarnators traveled through different worlds, completing tasks assigned by the Main God and earning exchange points to trade for anything.
He was only a level 4 Reincarnator, having previously visited the worlds of Heavenly Sword and Dragon Sabre, Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils, and The Legend of the Condor Heroes. He was essentially still a novice.
His identifier was 1678, indicating that at least 1,600 Reincarnations had come before him.
Some were likely in fantasy or cultivation worlds, far beyond his level.
All the points he earned in those worlds had been spent on training in Nine Yang Divine Skill, Lingbo Weibu, and Eighteen Dragon Subduing Palms. The remaining points had been used to buy Blood Burst Pills and a status potion.
He had never heard of dark entities in those three worlds.
But who could have guessed the dark entity was also a fellow traveler, potentially another Reincarnator? Competition in this industry was fierce, and there was likely more than one Main God space, with other reincarnation spaces.
To secure their achievements, they’d try to kill each other.
This fellow traveler was also incredibly cunning, as evil as a villain.
In his previous life, he was just a shut-in who had never faced the harsh realities of society.
In the worlds of Heavenly Sword and Dragon Sabre, he had completed the Main God’s tasks effortlessly, relying on his knowledge of the plot.
But in the world of Attack on Titan, he was failing.
For Reincarnations, dying in the local world during a Main God task meant actual death, with no chance of resurrection.
The Main God space did offer resurrection, but the exchange cost was out of Zhou Wei’s reach.
“Eren, Tang An’s target is me. I’ll go out.”
Eren’s face was calm, planning to exchange himself for Armin and the others’ safety.
“Eren.”
Connie and the others couldn’t find words.
“Boom! Boom!”
The hardening above them began to crack, indicating that Tang An was attacking from outside.
“Tang An, spare Armin and the others, and I’ll surrender to you.”
Eren looked up, speaking through the hardening. He knew Tang An could hear him.
If he could resist, Eren wouldn’t surrender.
But after blocking four consecutive impacts from the colossal Titans, all his strength had gone into hardening.
He likely didn’t have the energy to transform into the Attack Titan again.
“Eren, if possible, I wouldn’t want to kill you. But for the sake of freedom and life, I have no choice.”
Tang An stopped attacking outside, sighing.
“Since you also seek freedom, do you agree?”
“I agree.”
As Tang An’s words fell, the hardening cocoon began to crack. Eren, surrounded by steam, emerged, followed by Erwin, Armin, and the others.
“Eren.”
Armin’s eyes filled with tears, unable to control his emotions.
Connie, Sasha, and the others were the same.
“This is the only way.”
Eren’s face was full of sorrow.
Tang An grabbed Eren, who didn’t resist, knowing it would be futile.
“Armin, live well.”
With one last smile, Eren was tossed into Tang An’s mouth.
“Eren!”
Armin collapsed to the ground, feeling utterly helpless as he watched.
