Ninja School Teacher, I Can Become Stronger by Teaching Chapter 96

The Final Results

As Mokutsuki expected, Obito’s body had no issues; it was just a matter of excessive chakra expenditure combined with the strain from using Soru multiple times in a short period.

After all, Obito had used both the Great Fireball Jutsu and the Dragon Flame Jutsu, along with several incomplete Soru techniques and the Clone Jutsu.

Among these, the Clone Jutsu consumed the least chakra, but it was crucial to his strategy.

Once treated, Obito quickly regained consciousness. Seeing Mokutsuki sitting beside him, he couldn’t help but start sharing the highlights of his recent battle.

“The moment Guy kicked me, I knew if the fight went on normally, I’d lose. So, I decided to create distance and use ninjutsu, even if it meant I couldn’t use Soru anymore.”

“To conserve chakra, that Great Fireball Jutsu was more for show than actual damage; it was just to distract Guy and obscure his vision.”

When he recounted how he had tricked Guy with the Clone Jutsu, Obito’s excitement was palpable.

“I knew Guy has sharp observation skills, so I gritted my teeth and controlled the clones to feign exhaustion, misleading him.”

Obito felt he could boast about today’s fight for a year. There were so many details, and the clones didn’t show signs of exhaustion immediately; they only appeared fatigued after running for a while, making it more convincing.

“Your performance was indeed excellent today. If you could stay this calm in every fight, that would be great,” Mokutsuki praised.

He never hesitated to commend his students when they did well. Refrain from denying their efforts out of fear of arrogance would only result in a lack of self-confidence.

Mokutsuki felt that with Obito’s current performance, he wouldn’t be ranked as low as before; he should at least be a level three or four.

“Hehe, it’s all thanks to you, Mokutsuki-sensei,” Obito chuckled, wearing a satisfied smile.

Why had he recounted the fight in such detail? Was it to show off? Of course not. There was no point in bragging to his teacher about beating his peers.

He simply wanted to demonstrate his progress and gain Mokutsuki’s approval.

If there was one downside to the fight, it was that two people were missing: Rin Nohara and Kakashi Hatake.

If Rin were there, she would definitely praise his combat wisdom, and Kakashi, that smug jerk, wouldn’t dare underestimate him anymore.

After ensuring Obito was fine, they decided to return to the training ground to watch the remaining matches.

Mokutsuki knew Obito didn’t want to miss the exams. Since Obito was indeed uninjured, Mokutsuki took him back.

When Mokutsuki returned to the training ground, the first round of fights had ended, half the students were eliminated, and the second round had just begun. There was still some time before Obito’s next match.

In the second round, Shisui’s opponent was another recently graduated genin. As expected, Shisui swiftly and cleanly secured victory.

Most of the A-group students now believed that only Might Guy, Obito Uchiha, and Asuma Sarutobi had a real shot at winning.

Originally, Sumitsu Raidou would have been on this list too, but since he had already lost once, and quite decisively at that, everyone thought he couldn’t win another match against Shisui.

Obito’s second-round opponent was a fourth-year student. Even though Obito wasn’t in peak condition, he still managed to defeat his opponent smoothly.

The third round was similar, but it was worth noting that Asuma ended up fighting his teammate, Sumitsu Raidou.

When Raidou faced Asuma, everyone realized they might have underestimated his strength and also underestimated Shisui’s.

Looking back, they noted that Shisui had consistently defeated his opponents, whether they were fourth-year students or freshly graduated genin, in roughly the same amount of time.

Did Shisui’s strength fluctuate? They didn’t think so.

The only plausible explanation was that Shisui, being gentle by nature, didn’t want to make his opponents look too bad, so he adjusted his strength accordingly.

Raidou’s speed was impressive, though more fast than Guy’s with Soru. Still, he was among the strongest in the A-group, causing Asuma quite a bit of trouble during close combat with his kunai.

However, Asuma had endured two days of harsh training, so he kept his composure under Raidou’s fierce attacks. He soon found an opportunity to counterattack and won.

As the sun began to set, the final match was set to start: Obito Uchiha versus Asuma Sarutobi.

Both had gone through grueling fights, and Obito had even fainted from exhaustion, but by now, he had mostly recovered.

In his fight against Guy, Obito had to keep his distance to avoid Guy’s fierce attacks. But against Asuma, Obito closed in for close combat right from the start.

After all the training, Obito’s taijutsu was no longer a weak point. Though not as good as Shisui’s or Guy’s, it was strong enough to handle most peers.

Obito’s sudden charge caught Asuma off guard. Having watched Obito avoid close combat against Guy, Asuma had assumed Obito’s taijutsu was still weak.

But as the fight went on, Asuma was left bewildered. Obito’s combination of Soru and the Leaf Whirlwind left his head spinning.

Asuma could have put up a better fight, but his initial misjudgment cost him the match. He soon fell to Obito.

“The final match: Shisui Uchiha versus Obito Uchiha,” Mokutsuki announced.

“Both from the Uchiha clan. As expected from a prestigious family,” Ebisu remarked.

Though they were the same age, his abilities were nowhere near those of the clan ninjas. He had been eliminated in the first round.

“It’s a pity. I could have won if Obito’s taijutsu hadn’t improved so much,” Asuma felt regretful.

“As seniors, we haven’t been up to par. We’ll need to train even harder!” Kurenai Yuhi declared.

As Obito faced Shisui on the battlefield, his emotions were mixed.

He had fought many times with Guy but had rarely faced Shisui.

Back when they first started training with Mokutsuki, Obito was often discouraged by Shisui’s rapid progress.

What took Obito a week to master, Shisui could do in an afternoon. And Shisui, from the same clan and even younger than Obito, made it even more disheartening.

But now, Obito didn’t mind as much. Shisui might be strong, but Obito wasn’t weak either.

Although he knew he had little chance of winning against Shisui today, given his current state, Obito still gave it his all.

In the end, as expected, Obito lost. But he wasn’t disappointed because he had fought to the best of his ability.

Moreover, he had beaten Guy today, so Obito was in a great mood and couldn’t wait to brag about his comeback victory to Rin Nohara.
