“This house had someone die in it?” Natasha, the future ace agent, was still in her rookie phase and couldn’t access S.H.I.E.L.D. archives. All she knew was that the previous owner had committed suicide, but nothing before that.
“Maybe,” Bella answered evasively.
She had seen the ghosts of the two girls they mentioned. They were nothing special and had long been exorcised.
The trio of wannabe criminals continued their bragging, unaware they had stepped into a deep abyss.
The man with the nose ring even took three beers from their fridge. Natasha’s lips twitched, but she held back.
After a few sips, their arrogance grew.
“Flat-chested girl! You dress up as the skinny one! Come on, change your clothes, or I’ll do it myself!”
“And you, shorty! Change your clothes too, or you’ll die!”

Flat-chested girl? Shorty? They were asking for it!
The trio, seeing no reaction from the girls, got angry and pulled out knives, with the leader licking her lips.
The next moment, they found a black gun barrel pressed against the leader’s forehead, forcefully pushing her back two steps.
“You idiots! You’re looking for death! I was planning to play with you a bit!” Bella’s eyes were filled with malice.
Natasha, slightly slower, kicked down the other woman and elbowed the man with the nose ring, pinning him down before he could get up.
The three intruders were quickly subdued, their knives appearing weak compared to the guns.
“This is a fake gun, right?” the only woman not with a gun to her head said, shocked. What was happening? Didn’t California have strict gun laws?
They had been told there were just two ordinary girls here!
Faced with the barrels, the trio stood in a line.
They had thought about resisting but abandoned the idea quickly with the guns pointed at them.
“What should we do with these three?” Bella was at a loss. Killing them outright and disposing of the bodies? Handing them to the police? Both seemed problematic.
“You keep an eye on them,” Natasha told Bella, heading to her bag. Within five seconds, she pulled out a silencer.
Her skillful attachment of the silencer left Bella stunned and the trio terrified.
Who carries a silencer in their bag? The trio deeply regretted targeting this house.
Their lips trembled, and the seemingly tough guy had wet his pants.
“Are you really going to kill them?” Bella asked Natasha softly.
She knew that an agent’s job couldn’t be judged by simple good and bad but she didn’t want her sister’s hands stained with blood.
Natasha gave her a knowing look, making Bella feel clueless.
“I’m just scaring them. Leave it to me.”
The silenced gun hovered near their heads, and the trio closing their eyes in fear.
Natasha discreetly pulled out a syringe, injecting each of them in the neck, causing them to pass out, their expressions still terrified.
“I’ll have someone take them away. Don’t worry about it! Go to your room!” Natasha told her.
Bella figured she’d call someone from S.H.I.E.L.D. to handle it. Staying around would be awkward for both of them, so it was better not to see it.
She went to her room to watch TV. Shortly after, Natasha informed her, “They’re gone. Remember, don’t tell Charlie or my mom!”
“Alright, but be careful yourself. Sometimes clever tricks can’t solve all problems,” she warned sincerely.
“Got it, nag.”
The two didn’t continue their game, planning to shop tomorrow before heading to their rooms.
After a week in Los Angeles, seeing Natasha was fine, Bella felt at ease leaving for her journey to start her university life at Stanford in San Francisco.
“Remember to lock the doors and windows, watch the gas in the kitchen…” Bella’s endless nagging made Natasha impatiently push her out the door.
“Stop nagging. I’m fine! Go already!”
Bella scratched her head. Honestly, she wasn’t worried about Natasha’s safety. The smart, resourceful girl with good marksmanship and daily combat training could handle herself against five or six people.
The honeymooning couple would be back soon, and with the little ghost guarding the house, if anything happened, then ordinary people wouldn’t stand a chance.
After instructing Violet Hamon not to reveal herself, Bella found her ghostly truck still out playing, then drove to Stanford University in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Stanford’s motto, “The wind of freedom blows,” highlighted the value of freedom in education.
Stanford has seven schools.
The School of Engineering, the School of Earth, Energy & Environmental Sciences, and the School of Humanities and Sciences offer undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs.
The Schools of Medicine, Law, Education, and Business start from the graduate level.
If you want to study law, you must first obtain a bachelor’s degree in another field before applying to law school.
Bella was joining the School of Humanities and Sciences, which had no such requirements. She could theoretically study history at Stanford up to the doctoral level.
Stanford operates on a four-quarter system. Bella was starting in the fall quarter.
As a world-renowned private university, Stanford’s tuition was exorbitant.
Paying over forty thousand dollars in tuition made Bella’s heart ache.
Her money was hard-earned, fought for against death!
Everything is permissible, and everything can be paid in installments! Since everyone takes loans, why shouldn’t I? Bella also took out a loan.
After receiving her student ID and completing a series of registrations, she got a freshman guide outlining what to do first. If you couldn’t understand it, there was no point in attending college.
The university provided dormitories, but they cost money!
This couldn’t be loaned, and it was first come, first served. If you were late or broke, you were out of luck.
Bella quickly paid up, swiping away eight thousand dollars to cover nine months of accommodation.
