Seeing her enemy fall, Sharon Carter immediately hit the ground, crawling to relocate. Just two meters away, a thunderous noise gave her an overwhelming sense of pressure.
Sharon Carter cursed her feminine physical limitations. The sense of crisis was growing closer and closer. She felt she was in big trouble now.
“Gotcha!” a rough voice bellowed.
Sharon Carter spotted a huge shadow flash behind a nearby rock.
The scent of blood wafted to Sharon Carter’s nose. When she saw her foe, she was taken aback, “What kind of monster is this? Is this even human?”
Sharon saw the giant she had just headshot three times standing up again, somehow getting near her unnoticed.
Kebo, with his superhuman strength and regenerative abilities as a genetically modified human, wasn’t fatally wounded by her headshots. Though severely injured, he was out of commission only briefly.
R. Giyera’s powerful telekinesis played a crucial role, controlling Kebo’s body, putting him in a peculiar state of combat. Acting purely on instinct, with a body that felt no pain or fatigue, he fought like a wild beast.
A massive arm, thicker than Sharon Carter’s thigh, swung towards her head. With nowhere to retreat, she hastily pulled the knife strapped to her calf and kicked at his arm with all her might.
“Clang!”
It felt like kicking a steel plate, not a human limb. Her foe grabbed her ankle, lifting her off the ground. As she was hoisted into the air, she frantically fired her remaining four bullets into his chest. The monstrous man remained unfazed, as if feeling nothing.
The beastly foe flung Sharon Carter with great force, but she twisted mid-air, clamping onto his arm with both hands, and drove her knife into his wrist. The wound gushed blood.
Escaping his grasp, Sharon Carter ducked behind a large rock, panting lightly, trying to steady her racing heartbeat. That was close; she almost lost her leg.
From a distance, Stephen, the rookie agent, watched the fight with hands over his mouth, trembling with fear.
Yasuo, after flashing away from the plane as it descended, landed on the island and lost track of Sharon and Stephen. Realizing something was off, he noted that S.H.I.E.L.D.’s flight paths were supposed to be strictly confidential. How could they be attacked so coincidentally?
Switching to his Crimson Moon skin, Yasuo ran at full speed, searching for Sharon and Stephen.
The gunfire caught Yasuo’s attention, and he changed direction, sprinting towards the sound.
Sharon Carter, after resting a bit, realized Yasuo must be held up by something. She had to rely on herself. Scouting the area, she mapped out the terrain and enemy positions. The small, barren island offered little cover, with only about a 200-meter square area she could utilize.
Planning to eliminate her enemy, Sharon Carter moved carefully towards where she believed Stephen was hiding. She needed bait to distract the foe.
Finding Stephen, who looked tense, she placed her hands on his shoulders, staring into his eyes.
“Listen, agent. I need you to distract him.”
Stephen took a deep breath, trying to calm himself.
“When do I go out to distract him?”
“In five minutes. Start the countdown when I leave. Remember, don’t be afraid. Once you get his attention, run in this direction. When you hear me shout, hit the ground immediately!” Sharon Carter instructed Stephen.
Sharon Carter took a deep breath and moved out cautiously, remaining extremely alert to hide at any sign of trouble.
From her vantage point, about 70 meters away, she saw the giant foe still standing rigidly. The gash she had made in his wrist was healing, no longer bleeding. This superhuman physique made him a true ‘monster.’
Mentally counting the time, she swiftly set to work, dismantling four high-explosive grenades. This was the only method she could think of to eliminate him.
Stephen felt like a knife was hanging over his head, ready to drop at any moment.
Nervously watching his watch, when the time reached five minutes, Stephen surprisingly felt a sense of calm wash over him at this life-or-death moment.
Images of the Red-clothed Weirdo, his idol, filled his mind, giving him immense courage.
In an instant, Stephen left his hiding spot without fear, firing his gun at the giant foe, shouting, “Hey, you big oaf, I’m going to shove your head up your ass.”
Despite R. Giyera’s telekinetic control, Kebo’s mind was still active. After standing still to recover, he saw a rookie agent taunting and shooting at him. Enraged, he roared and began chasing Stephen, heavy breaths sounding like death knells.
R. Giyera, observing from afar, saw Kebo lose control and chase after the rookie. Even with enhanced genes, how could he be so brainless to fall for such an obvious trap?
Stephen ran as fast as he could towards the direction Sharon Carter had indicated, his speed increasing with the desire to survive. He didn’t dare look back, fearing even a slight hesitation would get him caught.
Sharon Carter watched Stephen run towards her, his speed reaching human limits, but the foe was even faster. A hundred meters, eighty meters, fifty meters!
Sweat soaked Sharon’s palms. Her plan was about to succeed. Just as she was about to shout for Stephen to drop, she found her body unresponsive.
