It was fortunate that all the nuclear weapons of various countries had been launched into space by Apocalypse using Professor X’s control.
This made him even less worried. Apart from nuclear weapons, modern conventional weapons couldn’t harm him.
“Hawking, you’ve always done exceptionally well, better than I ever did in all my years combined. If you believe using certain methods can truly bring peace between mutants and humans, then go ahead. I’m getting old. I’ll stay at the school to keep an eye on Erik and the others,” Professor X said after a long silence, recognizing the determination in Hawking’s voice.
The recent ordeal with Apocalypse attempting to seize his powers had made Professor X realize that his time was waning. Hawking had shown he could do better, so it was best to let him lead. Additionally, Hawking’s alien identity prevented any bias towards humans or mutants, making him an ideal leader for all superhumans.
While Hawking discussed matters with Professor X, Nick Fury held an emergency meeting with the World Security Council at S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters.
“I disagree with this approach. Hawking isn’t like Professor X. Doing this will only provoke him!” Nick Fury argued vehemently.
However, the council members, representing various countries, were unmoved. One of them replied directly, “Director Fury, this isn’t a discussion; it’s an order. Hawking must sign the agreement we’ve set, placing him under our supervision. Otherwise, his Hero Alliance International Company will be disbanded immediately, and he will no longer be allowed to use his powers.”
“He just saved the world in the eyes of the public. Doing this now will cause an uproar among the people,” Nick Fury tried to reason, hoping to change their minds.
“Should he refuse to comply, we’ll say it’s necessary to investigate his intentions as an alien on Earth. If he refuses to cooperate, he’ll be seen as an enemy of all humanity. Control the narrative, and public opinion will soon shift. According to your report, the mutants at the school won’t regain their powers for at least a week. This is the best time to act. Nick Fury, your previous failures have led to significant breaches in S.H.I.E.L.D. If you can’t complete this mission, we’ll reconsider our funding for S.H.I.E.L.D.,” the council members delivered an ultimatum.
Nick Fury’s veins bulged with frustration, but he eventually nodded, “I’ll personally talk to him tomorrow.”
S.H.I.E.L.D.’s funding came from the World Security Council to create an organization capable of handling global threats. Without their support, S.H.I.E.L.D. would be crippled.
When Hawking returned home after his conversation with Professor X, he found the house in chaos, looking like it had been hit by a tornado. Fortunately, Oleg, Elena, Wanda, and Pietro were all unharmed.
“Wanda had a slight mishap with her powers,” Pietro explained excitedly, asking, “Hawking, did Professor Ororo call you because of the big fight on TV? Did you go? I didn’t see you on TV. Were you on the plane?”
“No, Professor Ororo called me back to help look after the students who stayed at the school. I stayed there until the teachers returned,” Hawking explained, noting the worried expressions of Oleg and Elena.
He didn’t want them to know too much, as it would only cause them unnecessary worry.
“Wanda, what happened with your powers?” he quickly changed the topic to avoid further questions.
Wanda stared at him and replied, “I got too anxious watching the news on TV and lost control.”
“It’s alright. Just calm down next time. Remember to control your emotions,” Hawking advised, knowing that Wanda’s powers were influenced by her emotions.
“Reparo!” He used a repair spell to fix the mess in the house.
Once the house was back in order, he noticed the untouched dinner on the table. “You haven’t eaten yet?”
“No, we were waiting for you. But when we saw what was happening on TV, we got worried and couldn’t eat,” Oleg explained with a smile. “Now that everything’s fine, let’s eat. It’s almost midnight, and everyone’s probably hungry!”
“Let’s eat!” Pietro quickly seated himself at the table, followed by Oleg and Elena, who began reheating the food. Hawking and Wanda were the last to join.
“Slap!” Wanda smacked Hawking’s rear, then groped it while whispering, “Hawking, where’s your tail?”
“You little rascal. Okay, you guessed right. Let’s eat first, and I’ll explain everything afterward,” Hawking said, removing her hand and pinching her cheek.
Hawking had never told Wanda and Pietro about his role as a superhero or the Hero Alliance. But since Wanda often accompanied him during his gravity training, she knew him better than anyone else. She must have guessed the truth while watching the news.
After dinner, Hawking went to Wanda’s room to explain everything about the Hero Alliance and his activities. He gained her promise to keep it a secret from Oleg and Elena in exchange for a shopping trip.
With Wanda appeased, he took a shower, changed clothes, and began drawing his new template.
“Start drawing… Drawing complete. This time, the drawn protagonist template is Ichigo Kurosaki from Bleach at age fifteen.”
