“Inside is a genetic repair serum that will benefit your health. Don’t worry, I’m your father; I wouldn’t harm you,” Norman Osborn said slowly.
This serum was developed by Norman and Dr. Charles. Norman was also a participant in the Main God Space, with his first mission taking place during a timeline in the Resident Evil scenario. Unlike other participants, Norman joined Umbrella Corporation, leveraging his position there to complete his mission and form an alliance with Dr. Charles.
The Main God Space had temporarily stabilized Norman’s hereditary illness, but he still needed to solve his son’s problems.
Norman had seen the invitation from the Main God Space, but the cost was far beyond his expectations. It was akin to a college graduate trying to buy a mansion in New York City. Moreover, he needed to strengthen himself to avoid future mission difficulties; failing early would render all plans meaningless.
“Genetic repair serum?” Harry was surprised. “Is there something wrong with my genes?”
“It’s not you, it’s our family,” Norman said, standing and pacing the room. “It’s time to tell you something important…”
“What?” Harry blinked, sensing that he was about to learn something significant.
Over the next ten minutes, Norman explained the issue of the hereditary genetic disease to Harry in detail.
“No wonder you’ve been so focused on research into human repair,” Harry said, realizing the connection. “Is this the latest product?”
“Sort of, but the cost is high, and the materials are rare. For now, we only have these few doses. Use them first. We’ll mass-produce once we find a way to reduce costs,” Norman explained. Despite both he and Charles being top researchers, the short mission time meant they could only create something to alleviate symptoms, not cure them.
“I understand, but what about you, Dad? Aren’t you going to use it?” Harry asked, unlocking the box with his fingerprint. Inside were ten finger-sized doses. “How about we split them?”
Norman was touched by his son’s concern and patted Harry’s shoulder. “Don’t worry, my condition is stable for now.”
As he said this, Norman thought about other things. Producing this serum on a large scale in this world would take a long time, and in the meantime, he needed other ways to manage the hereditary disease.
Ultimately, it was a matter of money. What could he sell to others in the Main God Space?
As he pondered, two images came to Norman’s mind: one of his nearly completed human enhancement serum and the other of Tony Stark, whose identity had already been revealed.
After sending Niel away from S.H.I.E.L.D., Nick Fury contemplated his next move. The S.H.I.E.L.D. team needed a more reliable leader to present a united front to the Chinese delegation, and he had an ideal candidate in mind.
In a New York basement, the sound of fists hitting a punching bag echoed continuously.
“It seems you’re adapting well,” Nick said quietly, watching Steve Rogers.
Though they had rescued him from the ice, Rogers glanced at Nick, not particularly fond of the S.H.I.E.L.D. director or the organization.
“What do you want? Is it a mission?” Rogers asked, replacing the worn-out punching bag with a new one.
“It is a mission, a world-saving mission,” Nick said, handing over a dossier. “The Tesseract has been stolen.”
“I know,” Rogers replied without even looking at the file.
“You know?”
“Yes, I received a mission from another source,” Rogers said, looking at Nick.
Not long ago, Rogers had received an invitation from the Main God Space. His first mission was a trial in the Marvel Universe.
“It seems you’ve joined that place too. Interesting,” Nick said with a forced smile, growing increasingly concerned about the influence of the Main God Space.
Though currently aligned, what if a future mission involved sabotage? What if people from other worlds caused trouble? Signs of the latter were already evident, with Niel being a prime example.
More importantly, Nick hadn’t expected Rogers to join. He knew Rogers’ character well, and typical temptations wouldn’t sway him.
“Yes, I find it quite beneficial. Otherwise, how would I know you had retrieved the Tesseract?” Rogers said pointedly.
“The Tesseract was found by Howard while searching for you. It’s the key to unlocking clean energy for Earth,” Nick explained, invoking Howard Stark, whom Rogers respected greatly.
“Really? I heard you’re using it to make weapons,” Rogers said, setting the file aside and preparing to leave.
“That’s just a rumor,” Nick said, unflinching.
“Hope you can fool yourself,” Rogers retorted, not looking back. “By the way, the Tesseract would be best left in the ocean.”
As Rogers walked away, Nick shrugged indifferently. He knew Rogers wouldn’t sit idly by.
Glancing at his watch, Nick realized he needed to prepare for the arrival of the Chinese delegation. There was so much to do, and he was running out of time.
The three Chinese delegates held a small meeting on a private plane bound for New York.
“Ma Yi, stop punching. The mission of ten thousand punches isn’t easy. Punching while seated doesn’t count,” Zhao Jian said helplessly.
“Yes, Captain Zhao,” Ma Yi replied, lowering his fists. He found Zhao Jian’s strictness a bit annoying.
Zhao Jian turned to another delegate. “Master Lin, as the most experienced among us, I hope you’ll take the lead when dealing with Nick Fury to prevent us from being inadvertently manipulated.”
“I will. Don’t worry,” Lin Zhengying reassured.
Before becoming a suitable candidate for the Main God Space, he had been a Taoist priest for a long time. He had encountered all kinds of people and was confident he could handle even someone as shrewd as Nick Fury.
