January 18, 1510 of the Sea Calendar, Windmill Village, East Blue.
The Red-Haired Pirates had just returned from a voyage. A News Coo flew down from the sky.
“Well, well, what a timely arrival, Mr. News Coo. Here’s the payment for the newspaper.” Shanks tossed some coins into the small box hanging on the News Coo’s chest and took the newspaper.
“Impressive! That kid has become a Captain.”
“Boss, what’s the big news this time?” Lucky Roux asked with a grin, munching on a piece of roasted meat.
“Hahaha, it’s the big news about Mosen!” Shanks laughed as he handed the newspaper to Lucky Roux and continued, “Let’s celebrate, boys!”
Yasopp leaned in next to Lucky Roux to read the news, his mouth full of admiration. “What a monstrous kid. I wonder what he’ll be like the next time we meet.”
Lucky Roux added, “Maybe the next time we meet, we might end up being beaten by that kid, hahaha. Now, let’s have a drink for that brat.”
“Wow…”
“Party! Party!”
“Amazing Mosen!”
“Let’s celebrate our friend…”
The group cheered as they headed towards Makino’s bar.
…
Sabaody Archipelago, 13GR, Shakky’s Rip-Off Bar.
Shakky received the latest edition of the newspaper. The main headline featured a large photograph.
In the photo, Mosen, wearing a white floral shirt and draped in a Captain’s Justice Cloak, was smiling a smile that would make countless girls swoon. Of course, it might also make some rough men…
Shakky took a deep drag of her cigarette, exhaling a thick cloud of smoke, and spoke in a mysterious tone.
“As expected, little Mosen turned out to be a Marine elite. His achievements are really something!”
Across the counter sat a silver-haired older man with a distinguished air, wearing round, frameless glasses. A scar over his right eye didn’t make him look fierce; instead, it added a touch of experience to his appearance.
It was Silvers Rayleigh.
“Oh, so this is the lad you were talking about? Quite handsome, and the youngest Captain in Marine history. Quite an impressive figure.” Rayleigh took the newspaper Shakky handed him and examined it closely.
Then, pointing to the achievements listed, he said, “From 18 million, to 20 million, to over 60 million, and finally here, he took out a pirate crew worth over 200 million all by himself. The Marines really put him out there, huh?”
Such a genius being exposed early would bring him unpredictable risks. Rayleigh was a bit puzzled.
Shakky was pondering this as well. She replied, “Perhaps it’s a response to the turmoil of the Great Pirate Era. At the very least, it shows ordinary people that the Marines are still strong. It might also be a move to attract more talented individuals.”
Rayleigh nodded. “Looks like the work of an old rival. The name of the strategist is well-deserved.”
…
Base Town of the 77th Branch, East Blue.
Many townspeople who subscribed to the newspaper were abuzz with excitement.
“Our hero has become a Marine Captain!”
The news quickly spread through the small town, and erupted in celebration as if a major holiday had arrived.
“Amazing, that kid Mosen.”
“Dad, I’ve decided. I’m going to become a Marine like Mosen.”
“Our town will be famous now. Mosen is from our town.”
In a corner of the town, Chino also received the news.
Holding the newspaper her adoptive parents subscribed to, tears streamed down her face.
“Mosen, Vinsta, I will definitely find you both!” Chino vowed.
…
North Blue, the neighbouring town of Swallow Island.
“Captain! Captain, come see this news!”
Peckin came running to their usual gathering spot, holding a newspaper he had found somewhere.
Once everyone was gathered, Peckin spread out the newspaper, showing Mosen’s large photo on the front page.
“So flashy!” Law said with disdain, though he couldn’t hide the joy in his eyes.
“Mosen is so cool!” said the little fanboy Peckin.
“So strong, a Marine Captain.” Shachi was full of envy.
“I wonder if Mosen will take us out for a big meal the next time we meet.” Living a tough life recently, the little white bear Bepo felt he had lost weight.
“Yeah, I want to eat too.” Peckin agreed.
“Me too!” Shachi added the final touch, making it three votes.
Law’s face turned dark. Was no one paying attention to their captain?
The team’s spirit was falling apart.
But he also wanted a big meal!
…
New World, Whitebeard Pirates, Moby Dick.
Whitebeard held a bottle of wine in one hand, taking a large swig and a newspaper in the other.
“Gurarara, another remarkable kid has appeared in the Marines. Looks like our era is finally fading.”
“Father, it’s too early for you to fade away. But that’s quite a handsome lad.” Marco, the First Division Captain, stood beside Whitebeard.
“Gurarara, he’s a good-looking kid. Well then, let’s have a banquet.”
…
A hidden island in the first half of the Grand Line.
The Donquixote Pirates’ ship, the Flamingo, was docked there.
“Fufufufu, a Marine kid. A big name isn’t necessarily a good thing. The tallest trees catch the most wind.” Doflamingo held a newspaper in one hand and a glass of red wine in the other, commenting with a smirk.
“It seems Rosinante’s death has put a lot of pressure on you, Admiral Sengoku.”
“Hey, hey, what a handsome lad. Doffy, I wonder what happened to Law.” Trebol suddenly appeared beside Doflamingo, with his usual nasal mucus hanging down, speaking in his peculiar tone.
“You’re too close, Trebol. Your snot is disgusting. Move away a bit.” Doflamingo scolded, his voice filled with disdain as Trebol’s snot nearly touched his wine glass. “Law’s Devil Fruit ability, those Celestial Dragons behind the World Government won’t give up. We still have a chance.”
Doflamingo’s tone was as annoyingly cocky as ever, much like Kizaru’s infuriating drawl.
“Once we complete our plan, we’ll think of a way to get Law back. Fufufufu, you can’t escape, Law!”
…
That day, this newspaper was in many places around the world.
In the Four Seas, the Paradise of the Grand Line, the New World, countless small and large forces could see that it wasn’t ordinary for a Marine Captain’s news to make the front page.
Even if the person was ridiculously handsome, in a world where strength ruled, power was everything.
Many understood that this was a new layout by the Marines. As for the purpose?
Did it matter?
Many ambitious pirates were even planning to make a name for themselves by taking down the person in the newspaper.
“The head of the youngest Marine Captain in history should be worth a hefty bounty, hahaha!”
