Foxy held the sword, Yubashiri. Since he couldn’t identify the Sandai Kitetsu, he resorted to the simplest method.
With Yubashiri in one hand, he randomly grabbed a broken sword from the barrel and began to clash them together.
If the sword was truly junk, it would be easily sliced in half by Yubashiri.
“Quack,” Donald Duck watched Foxy with a puzzled expression.
Behind the counter, the shop owner Ichimonji frowned, feeling a sense of foreboding.
“Clang… crack…” Foxy worked quickly, and within half an hour, the floor was littered with broken blades. Donald Duck, meanwhile, had fallen asleep on a chair inside the shop.
Ichimonji’s face had grown long with irritation.
“I found it,” Foxy said, holding a perfectly intact long sword. This sword had withstood Yubashiri’s strikes.
Foxy hadn’t been hopeful at first, considering twenty years had passed. Yubashiri being a family heirloom wasn’t surprising, but finding the Sandai Kitetsu was more fortuitous.
Holding the Sandai Kitetsu, Foxy felt a peculiar sensation, something vaguely sinister. He’d heard that Kitetsu swords were cursed, capable of influencing the wielder’s mind.
Inspecting the Sandai Kitetsu, Foxy noted its cross-shaped guard, sharkskin handle, long blade with a significant curve, no blood groove, and typical flame-like hamon.
It was quite plain in appearance.
“You can’t take that sword,” Ichimonji said urgently, noticing Foxy holding the Sandai Kitetsu.
“Business is built on trust, shopkeeper,” Foxy replied, sheathing the Kitetsu, his face turning stern.
“You don’t know what kind of sword that is.”
“It’s the cursed Sandai Kitetsu, right?”
Ichimonji nearly choked in surprise.
“You… you know?” Ichimonji felt deceived.
“Of course,” Foxy said, placing both swords on the counter. “5.1 million Berries. I’ll take these swords now and bring the money to you tonight.”
“Kid, if you know about the Sandai Kitetsu, you should understand that all Kitetsu swords are cursed. Many famous swordsmen have met tragic ends wielding these swords. Very few swordsmen use Kitetsu swords now. It’s like a curse; I can’t let you take it,” Ichimonji said gravely.
“I’m not going to use it. Between the Kitetsu and Yubashiri, I prefer Yubashiri,” Foxy replied indifferently, but he also looked at Ichimonji and said, “You’re not a bad businessman.”
“Of course, everyone in Loguetown knows I, Ichimonji, am a man of my word,” Ichimonji said with a touch of pride before becoming serious again. “Kid, this sword is truly dangerous.”
“I know. I’ll bring you the money tonight,” Foxy said, grabbing both the Kitetsu and Yubashiri before calling Donald Duck to leave the weapon shop.
Despite Ichimonji’s good nature, Foxy didn’t want to waste time in conversation.
Ichimonji didn’t stop them. He wasn’t worried about Foxy backing out, trusting his judgment from years in business.
“Ah…” Ichimonji sighed as he watched Foxy leave.
Walking down the street, Donald Duck glanced at the two swords at Foxy’s waist, quacking curiously.
“We’ll head back to the base first, then go out and earn that 5 million,” Foxy said, already having a plan for the money.
Looking at the Kitetsu, Foxy had no intention of using it. Unlike Zoro, he wasn’t about to gamble with his arm. He preferred Yubashiri and planned to give the Kitetsu away someday.
Returning to the Navy base, Foxy encountered several brawls along the way, but they were all small-time scuffles. He didn’t run into any significant figures or future powerhouses.
After placing the Kitetsu and Yubashiri in his room, Foxy headed to the training grounds to continue his exercises.
As for the money, he wasn’t in a rush. It would be easier to handle at night.
The usual strategy: rob the rich to help the poor.
In this case, robs the rich to help his poverty.
As night fell, Loguetown grew even more lively.
A yellow streak darted out of the Navy base, with buildings beneath it seeming like flat ground.
“Quack,” at the harbor, Foxy sat on Donald Duck’s back, hiding in the shadows of an alley, eyeing the pirate ships docked at the port.
“Time to test your speed,” Foxy said, rubbing Donald Duck’s neck as his Observation Haki scanned the surroundings.
“Quack…” Donald Duck’s claws scraped the ground, sparking slightly, as he puffed up with confidence.
“Go.”
“Whoosh…” like a blur, Donald Duck darted forward like the wind. Guided by Foxy’s Observation Haki, they avoided many guards and easily infiltrated various treasure rooms.
The nightlife had just begun, so many pirate crew members were out drinking and feasting in Loguetown.
With Foxy’s Observation Haki and Donald Duck’s speed, their operation of robbing the rich went perfectly.
In no time, after raiding about a dozen pirate ships, they had gathered the 5 million Berries. Foxy carried two large sacks full of Berries and jewels.
He felt no guilt about taking these ill-gotten gains.
Everything was done discreetly.
“Let’s raid one more ship,” Foxy thought, but an unexpected encounter occurred.
“Who’s there?”
A flash of a blade split the ship’s hold in half, forcing Foxy to leap back. He looked warily at the fierce pirate blocking the doorway.
Donald Duck, meanwhile, had a necklace of gold and jewels around his neck, sniffed dismissively at the pirate, and continued stuffing treasures into their sacks, his plump rear wiggling with excitement.
“Two thieves,” the pirate snarled, brandishing his sword.
The pirate was about two meters tall, with a lean build. Foxy didn’t want to make a scene, intending to come back daily.
“Swish…” Dropping the sacks, Foxy vanished in a blink.
The pirate’s expression changed, quickly taking a defensive stance, revealing he wasn’t an ordinary pirate.
Clank, a combat captain of the Evil Wolf Pirates, with a bounty of 25 million.
The ship Foxy was robbing belonged to the Evil Wolf Pirates, whose captain, Evil Wolf Patron, had a bounty of 70 million. Most of the main crew were ashore in Loguetown, leaving Clank in charge.
For a bounty of 25 million, Clank was no pushover.
“Clang…” the sound of metal clashing echoed as Foxy’s fingers struck at Clank, who blocked with his sword. The force sent Clank crashing through the ship’s hold onto the deck.
The loud noise woke the other guards.
“Time to go,” Foxy decided, not wanting to stay longer. He reappeared on Donald Duck’s back, carrying the sacks.
“Whoosh…” Donald Duck quacked and jumped off the ship, disappearing into the night, leaving Clank and the other pirates in the dust.
Clank rubbed his chest, his face grim. He had been bested by a kid.
