Unlike the fake Uchiha members they had encountered before, like Uchiha Kagami, Uchiha Itachi, Uchiha Shisui, and Uchiha Fugaku, Jin was a true and quintessential Uchiha. Facing Jin’s soul-crushing accusation, the panic-stricken Hiruzen and his advisors instinctively denied it.
They couldn’t admit it even if it were true!
Homura and Koharu glanced at Hiruzen, silently blaming him for not informing them of any hidden cards beforehand.

But instead of attacking, Jin turned his gaze to Asuma Sarutobi at his feet.

“Asuma!” Hiruzen, having hesitated, couldn’t stop it in time and could only shout in concern.
“Speak!”
Jin released his hold on Asuma, his tone indifferent.
“Were you ordered to attack me after I fought the mysterious person?”

Everyone’s attention turned to Asuma, whose face was battered and bruised, waiting for his answer as if it were a signal to fight.
Asuma, his face blank and trembling, opened his mouth with difficulty under Jin’s question.
“N-no… We detected a disturbance at the memorial stone and came to investigate according to protocol.”

Everyone exhaled in relief and turned hopeful eyes to Jin.
“Why are you looking at me?”
Jin’s expression remained unchanged, showing no guilt for beating up Asuma. He simply added, “I’m doing this for Konoha. Any objections?”
Hiruzen, Homura, and Koharu in that simple statement could almost see their old friend Danzo’s familiar shadow behind Jin.
Danzo, you really are a bastard!
