“Killer Crab” was the news Admiral Ark learned during a chat with his friend.
Recently, a giant crab had been appearing near the shores of Karate Island. This creature, able to disguise itself as a large rock, would ambush nearby pedestrians and tourists.
Fortunately, the “Killer Crab” only came ashore during high tide. On one occasion, the beach was empty except for a master from the “Water Strike” dojo, practicing his techniques against the crashing waves near the rocks.
After a fierce battle, the dojo master realized he was no match for the creature. He managed to survive by blocking one of the crab’s attacks and using the force to propel himself back to shore.
The master then warned the island’s inhabitants about the giant crab. Even when several dojo masters teamed up to fight it, they were defeated, with some suffering injuries.
Because of its ferocity and strength, people began calling it the “Killer Crab.”
Stronger dojo masters had tried to kill the creature, but the crab mostly stayed in the water, only occasionally coming ashore. Waiting for it to appear could have been more practical, as they had students to teach.
Such a monster on the beach caused widespread fear; no one dared to go near the shore. Many residents asked the Marines to eliminate the “Killer Crab,” fearing it might one day venture into the town to hunt.
Ark’s friend, Chel, saw this as a perfect opportunity to enhance the Marines’ reputation. On Karate Island, where martial arts were highly respected, the Marines were mostly seen as bounty exchange offices since the dojo masters often dealt with pirates themselves.
By taking down the “Killer Crab,” Chel hoped to showcase the Marines’ strength and attract recruits. Recruits from Karate Island, even as rookies, were generally stronger than ordinary people, making the island a natural source of strong recruits.
“So, are you interested in checking it out? I can have my old friend accompany you. If you can’t handle it, he’ll step in. You haven’t faced any strong enemies on this journey, have you?” Admiral Ark asked with a smile, still miffed about their previous “boring” adventure.
Ark had heard from Chel that the dojo masters who failed to defeat the crab were skilled and capable of handling pirates with bounties of around ten million. Although bounty amounts didn’t always reflect strength, pirates with ten million berries were usually quite capable.
Determined to challenge and toughen up Michion’s group, Ark was doing his best. With his friend’s help, he was confident he could ensure their safety against the “Killer Crab.”
“A giant crab? It must be delicious!” Sora exclaimed, her eyes shining, causing Ark’s mouth to twitch. He was aware of Sora’s “foodie” tendencies after their journey together.
Even when encountering experimental dinosaurs on a previous island, Sora complained about the creatures’ inedibility after boarding the ship.
Michion couldn’t help but laugh, noticing Sora’s growing resemblance to Luffy in her appetite. He even imagined Sora as the protagonist of a “Gourmet World of Pirates” series.
As the group headed to the beach where the “Killer Crab” was spotted, they discussed whether it would taste good.
“Hey, Michion, do you think that giant crab has a lot of meat?” Sora asked, her eyes gleaming, almost drooling.
Michion replied helplessly, “It should have a lot of meat, especially those big claws…”
As they approached the beach, they found it covered in variously shaped rocks rather than sand. The area provided perfect camouflage for the “Killer Crab,” which would bury itself in the sand and ambush unsuspecting people.
But this time, the group didn’t include any ordinary people.
When they arrived, the beach was calm. Tina and the others formed a circle, moving cautiously to avoid a surprise attack.
“Aren’t you going?” Chel asked, standing on a rock and noticing Michion observing from a distance.
“No need. My abilities are effective from a distance,” Michion replied with a smile.
As Sora, Tina, and the others advanced a few dozen meters, the rocks around them began to move. They saw numerous stone-like pillars rising, revealing sharp claws.
Although Michion knew that many creatures in the One Piece world had unreasonable camouflage abilities, seeing it in person still amazed him.
As the “stone spears” attacked rapidly, Sora cheered, “Time to eat crab!”
Sora transformed into her half-beast form, dodging the sharp attack. Tina quickly generated iron rods, pinning one of the crab’s limbs to the ground.
“Rust!” Sean used his Rust-Rust Fruit ability on the pinned limb, causing the crab’s shell to corrode.
“Boom!” Sora, Berry Good, and Shalin Kur attacked the weakened shell, only to find they barely damaged the outer layer.
“Is this shell too tough? Even Sean’s ability only corroded the surface?” Berry Good exclaimed in surprise.
“No, that’s not the shell; it’s just the outer layer,” Sean corrected.
The “Killer Crab’s” six limbs were far tougher and faster than expected. With a series of sharp whistling sounds, it launched a barrage of attacks like a torrential rainstorm.
