The defense of Candy Man’s candy armor was astonishing. Neither Sunny’s regular attacks nor Eust’s Iaijutsu could make a dent. As the main fighter, Sunny had to resort to her ultimate move against Candy Man.
Sunny’s ultimate move is a burst skill, unleashing incredible speed and power in an instant to deal heavy damage to the enemy. However, it also leaves her unable to adjust her stance or dodge attacks, making it a high-risk, high-reward strategy, often resulting in mutual destruction.
Sunny rarely uses this move because she fears pain. However, in urgent or critical situations, she uses it without hesitation.
After Eust retreated, Sunny chose the right moment to activate the skill.
Due to Candy Man’s lack of offensive capabilities, Sunny managed to severely wound him without getting hurt herself. The price was breaking some “cat claws,” temporary exhaustion, and reduced combat mode duration.
This taught us that the force exerted usually has a mutual effect. Sunny pitied her claws; if it were my nails, the thought alone would be painful.
Anyway, although Sunny heavily injured Candy Man, shattering his candy armor, the battle wasn’t over. Sunny sensed extreme terror.
Sunny immediately stopped Eust, who was about to deliver the finishing blow and urged him to carry her, now in a relaxed state, away from Candy Man.
Sensing the gravity in Sunny’s tone, Eust knew something was about to happen. Without delay or questioning, he carried Sunny and left Candy Man’s candy ship.
At this moment, Lila’s shout also warned Eust and Sunny to leave the candy ship. Understanding that she shouldn’t lag behind, Lila swam away from the candy ship after seeing Eust and Sunny leave.
Eust, sensing the danger, felt an intensely threatening aura from behind. A voice in his mind told him to get away immediately.
Eust quickly swam towards Lila, instructing Sunny to inform the Lilith ship, still trapped in the Candy River, to also get away.
The Lilith ship indicated its current inability to break free from the candy river, telling Eust and the others to leave first.
Just as Sunny relayed the message from the Lilith ship, Eust and Lila were reunited, and close to the Lilith ship, an explosion occurred.
The shockwave hit first, and Eust immediately protected Lila. As for Sunny on his head, she was in danger, being an exhausted Devil Fruit user unable to swim.
After the shockwave, the explosion’s sound followed. Eust was already severely injured and had moved far forward with Lila.
Eust realized that the explosion and shockwave were likely the final performance of the mentally unstable Candy Man—a flamboyant self-destruction, truly an artist!
Fortunately, Sunny acted faster than Eust, mustering some primordial strength to hold onto Eust’s head, avoiding being blown away by the shockwave.
Several wounds appeared on Eust’s head, evidence of the shockwave’s violence.
Eust then saw the Lilith ship in pieces, its fragmented wood falling around them.
Since Eust and Lila were swimming in the sea, and the Lilith ship was between the candy ship and them, it took most of the explosion’s impact, saving them from complete destruction. Broken wooden pieces flew everywhere, making the fate of Lilith grim.
The Lilith ship turned into pieces, Eust was severely injured, Sunny was slightly hurt and exhausted, but Lila, protected by Eust, was in the best condition.
Lila only felt stifled from the multiple shockwave reductions, but nothing serious.
The strongest shockwave was blocked by Lilith, with Eust bearing most of the remaining force, leaving Lila well-protected. Eust, Sunny, and Lila were safe, but what about Lilith? With the Lilith ship damaged, what would happen to Lilith?
“Sunny, quickly check on Lilith.”
“Meow, I know. I just asked Lilith. Lilith said its main body is fine but severely lacks energy, only able to form a basic ship shape. It’s currently reconstructing the hull.”
“Thank goodness Lilith is okay. But with the ship shattered, Lilith being unharmed is impressive.”
“Meow, I’m curious too, so I asked Lilith.”
“Meow, Lilith said it survived because it had enough energy reserves. Without sufficient energy, it would have perished with the ship.”
“Oh, so that’s how it works. We must ensure Lilith’s energy reserves are maintained in the future. This energy is essentially Lilith’s life.”
“With Lilith fine, I’m more concerned about Eust’s injuries,” Lila said after hearing about Lilith.
“Uh, Lila, now that you mention it, I feel pain all over. I was hit twice by that perverted Candy Man’s saliva bombs, and the final shockwave was no joke. Now we have no place to stay. What a mess!”
“True, encountering that strange Candy Man was unpredictable. Without the Lilith ship shielding us, we might not have survived. Both Sunny and I sensed the danger in advance, yet we couldn’t avoid this calamity.”
“Let’s not dwell on it. Once Lilith reconstructs the ship, we’ll leave immediately. I’m curious about the Candy Man’s scene. Lila, give me a hand.”
…
“No trace left. After a Devil Fruit user dies, their creations vanish. Was it the explosion’s power, or did Candy Man reclaim the candy ship and Candy River’s energy?”
“We were too focused on getting away to observe carefully.”
“Also, the Candy-Candy Fruit is quite powerful. After Candy Man’s death, the Devil Fruit will reappear. Who knows where? If I could find it, that’d be great.”
“Eust, stop dreaming. Devil Fruits aren’t that easy to get. Just wait for Lilith to reconstruct the ship and don’t wander around. I’m also very tired.”
“Alright, since Lila is tired, I’ll follow her suggestion.”
“Hey, I said that because I’m worried about your injuries, Eust.”
“Oh, Lila, you do care about me!”
“Eust!”
