The battle was over, and Eust and his crew didn’t fare well. This fight came out of nowhere. Why did Candy Man attack Eust and his crew?
Eust had spoken with Candy Man, who simply said he attacked because he felt like it. Eust was baffled. How could someone be so capricious? Did his mother know he acted this way?
Eust initially thought Candy Man had mental issues. But considering the lawlessness of pirates on the sea, with their rampant attacks on islands and ships, he realized Candy Man might not be mentally unstable but rather psychopathic. The difference, Eust thought, was that mental issues make it hard to understand someone’s thoughts, while a psychopath might follow predictable patterns.
This was just Eust’s opinion, and he didn’t know the real situation.
The battle with Candy Man was a disaster for Eust and his crew. Unforeseen disasters like this are common at sea—violent weather, ferocious pirates, and crazed sea beasts don’t engage in polite conversation. One must be mentally prepared for anything when sailing.
Eust and his crew had recently faced two major incidents: one a natural disaster, the other a man-made one. Thanks to their collective efforts, they survived.
As the saying goes, it’s hard to get by alone at sea; a team is essential.
Eust privately believed he needed at least ten crew members, though he’d be happy with more. Progress takes time, so he set a small goal: ten crew members.
Eust thought his skills, honed under Shano’s guidance, were good enough to roam the seas like the pirate hunter Perry.
But after two cold wake-up calls, Eust realized he had much to improve. He wouldn’t give up easily—he’d continue to enhance his skills and find suitable companions while keeping his adventurous spirit alive.
Eust analyzed Perry, the talkative pirate hunter, and realized Perry’s success near Lightning Island was due to his experience, not just his skills. Perry knew his limits and chose his targets wisely. Even with modest strength, a pirate hunter could do well with the right strategy. Overestimating oneself, no matter the strength, could lead to disaster.
Eust thought of Perry after encountering the Blue Wolf Pirates’ captain, Blue Wolf, who had an 800,000 Berry bounty. He decided to make a name for himself as a pirate hunter and see if he could attract some followers.
A mighty presence could make underlings flock to him. Eust realized he was dreaming.
As Eust pondered, he discussed the recent incident with Sunny and Lila. Meanwhile, Lilith finished reconstructing the ship.
Lilith’s reconstructed ship was her original form, smaller than a fishing boat, barely enough for Eust and Lila.
After boarding the new Lilith ship with Sunny, Eust had Sunny release the stored food for Lilith to consume and gain energy.
Unfortunately, Sunny’s storage space, granted by her mission fruit, was only 10 cubic meters and held many other items. With limited food stored and needing to keep some for themselves, Lilith couldn’t get enough energy to build a larger ship.
Lilith was heavily damaged, needing energy to reconstruct any form. Normally, getting seafood wouldn’t be an issue for fishing King Eust, but he was too exhausted to move.
Luckily, Eust’s recovery ability was strong, so he expected to recover quickly, allowing his crew to regain their strength.
Once Lilith absorbed some energy, they immediately left, not wanting to attract attention with their weakened state.
Onboard, Eust, Sunny, and Lila replenished their food and water to restore their strength.
Eust was the most injured, needing food for energy and materials to heal. Sunny, using her battle mode transformation, also needed food to replenish her energy. Lila, shaken and having helped Eust investigate the scene, needed food to calm her nerves and regain strength.
After eating, Lilith had moved far from the explosion site.
Eust and his crew began fishing. Eating was crucial; they needed Lilith to construct a small sailboat to navigate the sea, requiring a lot of energy. Lilith needed enough energy not just to build but also to sail.
Lila suggested changing plans, and finding a nearby island to rest before heading to Hertz Island.
Eust agreed, noting the difficulty of the Hertz Island journey. After a few days of sailing, they found an island to rest on.
Uninhabited islands served as markers guiding ships’ paths between settled islands.
Though the Baratie Sea Restaurant and Hertz Island were far apart, skilled navigator Lila could guide them easily. But this voyage had been full of unexpected challenges—storms, sudden attacks, and more.
Eust doubted the Black Bear Pirates were still on Hertz Island. News traveled slowly, and pirates seldom stayed in one place long. Powerful pirates might, but otherwise, they moved to avoid capture.
For now, Eust prioritized his recovery and Lilith’s energy needs. Big goals start with small steps.
Eust resumed his fishing, making a name as the fishing king in the nearby sea.
