24 Years, Ascension to Divinity (Part 1)
…
Bulma was briefly stunned, but her eyes sparkled with excitement as she rushed forward and picked up the Dragon Ball.
“Don’t touch my grandpa! This is my grandpa’s keepsake!” Goku exclaimed in alarm.
“This is called a Dragon Ball. How can it be your grandpa?” Bulma rolled her eyes and pulled out two more Dragon Balls from the small bag she carried.
Goku blinked, his eyes wide with confusion, “You have grandpas too? You have two grandpas!”
“These are Dragon Balls. There are seven in total, and they can emit a faint glow. Inside each Dragon Ball, there are stars ranging from one to seven,” Bulma explained.
“Oh… my grandpa’s one has four stars,” Goku said, examining it carefully.
“These two Dragon Balls I have are ones I found before and kept at home,” Bulma replied.
“Are you looking for the Dragon Balls?” Goku asked innocently.
“Yes, it’s not easy to find all seven,” Bulma nodded.
“Why are you looking for them?” Goku asked, “Do you want to make them into beads?”
“No, if you gather all seven Dragon Balls, Shenron will appear and grant any wish,” Bulma explained in detail. “About 11 years ago, an annoying person gathered them and granted another person the ability to survive in space.”
“Annoying person?” Goku was puzzled.
“That’s not important anymore,” Bulma shook her head. “Anyway, I’m now trying to gather all seven Dragon Balls again to make my own wish.”
“Uh…” Goku nodded, still unsure.
“Give me your Four-Star Dragon Ball,” Bulma suggested.
“No way! This is my grandpa’s keepsake!” Goku immediately clutched the Four-Star Dragon Ball tightly, afraid that Bulma would snatch it away.
“I’ll buy it from you! I’ll give you 10,000 zeni. You probably haven’t seen that much money before, right?” Bulma said, pulling out a 10,000-zeni coin and handing it to Goku.
Goku took the coin and bit into it.
“It doesn’t taste good,” Goku said, disappointed.
Bulma: “…”
“Forget it, how about we search for the Dragon Balls together? Think of it as a training journey,” Bulma suggested.
“Training?” Goku asked, confused.
“You’re probably a Saiyan, and Saiyans train by traveling from a young age. Staying in these mountains won’t get you anywhere. One day, your fellow Saiyans might pick on you,” Bulma said with a smile.
“I don’t really understand what you’re saying, but I guess it wouldn’t hurt to go out and explore,” Goku nodded. “But this ball stays with me.”
“Fine, keep it with you,” Bulma agreed.
Then Bulma threw out a brand-new Capsule Corp capsule, which transformed into a car.
Bulma drove the car along the mountain path, with Goku peering out the window, marveling at the speed.
“Wow, it’s so fast! Way faster than I can run!” Goku exclaimed, amazed at the scenery rushing past.
Bulma remained silent.
After driving for a while, the sky began to darken.
“It’s getting dark. Let’s stop here for the night,” Bulma said, pulling the car to a stop and getting out.
“I’ll just sleep outside,” Goku said with a nod.
“I’ll give you a house. You stay in one, and I’ll stay in another,” Bulma said, pulling out two more capsules, which transformed into houses.
Bulma took Goku to his house and showed him how to use the bath and other amenities.
“Remember, I’m a girl. Boys and girls are different! Don’t sneak into my house! Understand?” Bulma warned sternly before leaving. “Men and women are not the same, and boys shouldn’t enter a girl’s room!”
“Why would I sneak into your room?” Goku scratched his head, puzzled.
…
Goku quickly learned how to wash himself with soap, and Bulma relaxed in her own house, watching TV before falling asleep.
The night passed uneventfully.
The next day, Bulma and Goku resumed their journey to find the Dragon Balls.
Along the way, Goku encountered a sea turtle and helped him return to the ocean.
The turtle promised to repay Goku and asked them to wait by the shore for a moment.
Before long, Master Roshi arrived, riding on the turtle’s back, swiftly approaching from the sea.
“So, you’re the one who saved the turtle?” Master Roshi asked Goku.
“Grandpa, who are you?” Goku asked, confused.
“I am Master Roshi!” Master Roshi replied. “Since you saved the turtle, I’ll give you a gift as thanks.”
“A gift?” Goku asked, surprised.
“Come forth, Immortal Phoenix!” Master Roshi called out loudly.
However, nothing appeared.
“The Immortal Phoenix died from food poisoning…” the turtle said, wiping its brow.
“Is that so? I forgot,” Master Roshi nodded.
“An Immortal Phoenix that can die? That’s ridiculous,” Bulma said, rolling her eyes.
“Yes, it was named the Immortal Phoenix to signify eternal life,” Master Roshi pondered. “I’ll give you something else… come forth, Flying Nimbus!”
As soon as he spoke, a golden cloud came speeding through the blue sky, landing next to Master Roshi.
Both Goku and Bulma were amazed.
“This is the Flying Nimbus! It’s yours now!” Master Roshi smiled, pleased with himself for impressing the young lady.
“How do I eat it?” Goku asked.
“This precious cloud isn’t for eating!” Master Roshi said sternly. “If you sit on the Flying Nimbus, you can fly wherever you want.”
“Can it fly in the sky?” Goku asked excitedly.
“Isn’t it awesome?” Master Roshi grinned. “But only those with a pure heart can sit on the Nimbus. I’ll demonstrate!”
He jumped onto the cloud but immediately fell through, landing flat on his backside, almost hurting his back.
“Master Roshi, is your back okay?” the turtle asked with concern. “At your age, you need to take care of your back.”
“Shut up! My back is fine!” Master Roshi snapped.
How dare this old turtle embarrass me in front of such a cute girl! You’re lucky I don’t cook you in a stew.
Bulma laughed uncontrollably.
Master Roshi: “…”
So embarrassing!
“Let me try!” Goku jumped onto the Nimbus and immediately soared into the sky, flipping and spinning through the air.
Moments later, Goku descended on the Nimbus and landed back beside Bulma and Master Roshi.
“Impressive,” Master Roshi nodded approvingly.
“Old man, can you give me a gift too?” Bulma asked, eyeing the Nimbus with interest.
“Huh?” Master Roshi was taken aback and turned to the turtle. “Did she save you too?”
“No,” the turtle shook its head.
“I gave you some salt water, didn’t I?” Bulma retorted.
“But there’s only one Flying Nimbus… I could give you something else, but there’s a condition… hehehe!” Master Roshi drooled.
“Wait a second! What’s that around your neck? Let me see!” Bulma’s eyes lit up as she spotted the Dragon Ball hanging from Master Roshi’s neck.
“Hmm?” Master Roshi took off the Dragon Ball and handed it to Bulma.
Bulma called Goku over, and he examined the Dragon Ball closely.
Yes, it was indeed a Dragon Ball.
…
24 Years, Ascension to Divinity (Part 2)
…
“Perfect! This is the fourth Dragon Ball we’ve found! We’re so lucky. Thanks!” Bulma quickly claimed the Dragon Ball.
“I didn’t agree to give it to you yet…” Master Roshi wiped the sweat from his brow. “About that condition…”
“Stop! Don’t say another word!” Bulma huffed, pulling out a stack of money and tossing it to Master Roshi.
Master Roshi: “???”
I don’t want money.
“Take this cash, go to the city, and find yourself 10 girls, okay?” Bulma rolled her eyes.
Master Roshi’s eyes sparkled.
Why didn’t I think of that before?
“We’re leaving, Goku.” Bulma grabbed Goku’s arm and left.
Master Roshi stood there in the sea breeze, feeling utterly bewildered.
Is 1 million zeni enough for that Dragon Ball?
In the ensuing search for the Dragon Balls, Bulma and Goku encountered Oolong and Yamcha.
Although Yamcha fell for Bulma at first sight, she wasn’t interested in him.
As for Oolong, he didn’t manage to take advantage of Bulma either.
When the Dragon Balls were finally gathered, they were stolen by Emperor Pilaf and his gang.
Shenron appeared, but at the critical moment, Oolong made a wish for a set of women’s underwear, thwarting Pilaf’s plan.
…
Universe 9, Outer Space
Where Ren was, the glowing ball of light had grown to the size of a basketball.
Watching the steadily growing light each day, Broly’s face was filled with anticipation.
Eleven years had now passed, and Broly had grown into an adult.
He now stood at over six feet tall, his youthful face replaced by a more mature appearance.
Majin Buu, on the other hand, remained the same, his chubby form lingering 100 meters away from the light sphere.
The days of waiting were long and grueling.
However, Broly remained steadfast, as if he were awaiting the return of a king.
…
Universe 7, Supreme Kai’s Realm
“Supreme Kai, have you noticed something strange?” Kibito suddenly asked.
“What is it?” Supreme Kai paused, confused.
“Majin Buu seems to be missing…” Kibito said softly.
“Missing? Wasn’t he always with that Galactic Patrol officer, Merus?” Supreme Kai asked, perplexed. “I thought he was still sleeping.”
“But when I checked yesterday, he was gone,” Kibito said, his face turning pale.
Supreme Kai frowned and immediately looked toward the Galactic Patrol headquarters, searching for Majin Buu.
After a moment, Supreme Kai’s expression changed. His frown deepened, and a sense of unease crept over him.
“He’s really gone? Where could he have gone?”
“I don’t know… should we ask Merus?” Kibito suggested.
“Let’s go ask him! It’s been more than ten years, and the universe has been mostly peaceful. At least Majin Buu hasn’t caused any major problems! But now he’s disappeared, and I suddenly have a bad feeling,” Supreme Kai said in a low voice.
“Kai Kai!”
With a swift teleportation, Supreme Kai and Kibito appeared instantly in Merus’ room.
Merus wasn’t there.
After arriving, Supreme Kai and Kibito started rummaging through the room, searching for any signs of Majin Buu. Kibito even picked up a vase and peered inside.
Supreme Kai: “…”
“Kibito, do you really think he would hide inside a vase?” Supreme Kai wiped his brow.
“Isn’t he capable of turning into smoke?” Kibito responded, quite sure of himself.
“You make a good point,” Supreme Kai nodded thoughtfully.
As the two of them continued searching, Merus opened the door and entered the room.
“Ah, it’s Supreme Kai and Kibito! Welcome!” Merus greeted them with a smile, waving amicably. “What are you two looking for in my room?”
“Merus! Where have you hidden Majin Buu?” Supreme Kai demanded, pointing at him.
“Hidden? I haven’t hidden him anywhere! Majin Buu is currently in Universe 9,” Merus replied truthfully.
“What did you say? I didn’t catch that… What universe?” Supreme Kai was puzzled.
“We’re in Universe 7 right now. Majin Buu has gone to Universe 9,” Merus explained. “He’s with Broly.”
“He’s with Broly?” Supreme Kai asked in surprise. “Weren’t those two fighting to the death?”
“They’re best friends now,” Merus responded.
Supreme Kai: “…”
Kibito: “…”
The two exchanged a glance, their expressions filled with dread.
Handling one Majin Buu was already a nightmare, but now there was also the Legendary Super Saiyan involved.
This could be catastrophic.
“Wait, what universe did you say? Universe 9? We’re in Universe 7?” Supreme Kai asked, trying to stay calm.
“Yes, Supreme Kai,” Merus confirmed.
“Stop joking! There’s only one universe! From what you’re saying, it sounds like there are several,” Supreme Kai chuckled, clearly not believing him.
Merus didn’t bother to argue further.
“Come on, keep talking! You’re just making this up!” Supreme Kai snorted. “Don’t think I can’t see through you! I’m the greatest god in the universe; there’s nothing I don’t know!”
“You’d better come clean. Where have you hidden Majin Buu?” Kibito demanded loudly, pointing at Merus.
“First, let me ask you something, Supreme Kai. Have you ever observed the entire universe?” Merus asked seriously.
“I’m the Supreme Kai! Are you suggesting I haven’t observed the universe? That’s ridiculous!” Supreme Kai huffed.
“Then, have you ever seen the edge of the universe?” Merus inquired.
“Of course, the edge of the universe is a vast emptiness!” Supreme Kai replied.
“And then?” Merus pressed on.
“And then? There’s nothing after that!” Supreme Kai said.
“Have you ever tried observing beyond that emptiness? Maybe there’s another universe beyond it,” Merus patiently explained.
“Another universe beyond that void? Stop trying to deceive us! That’s impossible,” Supreme Kai scoffed. “Enough with the distractions! Tell us where Majin Buu is right now, or I’ll reveal your true identity! You won’t be able to stay at the Galactic Patrol any longer!”
“We were going to expose you years ago, but we let you be since you weren’t causing any trouble,” Kibito added, sternly pointing at Merus. “So you’d better behave and tell us where Majin Buu is, or we’ll make sure you’re dealt with.”
“Fine, fine, I’ll tell you,” Merus sighed, looking helpless. “Majin Buu has been sealed on Earth again. You can go look for him there.”
“Sealed on Earth? Really?” Supreme Kai was surprised.
“If I said it was fake, would you believe me?” Merus asked softly.
“That actually sounds more believable,” Supreme Kai said, feeling satisfied. “Alright, you’re being sensible.”
In the next moment, Supreme Kai and Kibito used Instant Transmission and vanished.
Within seconds, they reappeared on a desolate Earth.
Taking advantage of this, Merus used his staff to create a fake seal that resembled Majin Buu’s, and with a wave of his hand, he sent the seal to Earth.
“Whoah, has Majin Buu already ravaged this planet like this?” Kibito exclaimed as he looked around, shocked by the barren wasteland.
Supreme Kai’s expression grew solemn, and he offered a moment of silence for the lives lost.
But after the brief pause, he became confused.
“It doesn’t seem like Majin Buu’s destruction. It looks more like a modern war between humans using advanced weapons that ruined the planet,” Supreme Kai analyzed.
“Let’s search for Majin Buu’s seal first,” Kibito suggested.
Supreme Kai nodded, choosing not to dwell on the fate of humanity and its civilization.
It didn’t take long for them to find the fake seal that Merus had created in a prominent location on Earth.
When Supreme Kai and Kibito saw the seal, their eyes welled up with emotion.
They had finally found him!
…
24 Years, Ascension to Divinity (Part 3)
…
The two hugged each other, so overjoyed that they felt like dancing in celebration on this empty planet.
“Merus must have realized he couldn’t control Majin Buu, so he sealed him away again,” Kibito speculated.
“That makes sense,” Supreme Kai agreed with a nod.
“What should we do with Majin Buu’s seal?” Kibito asked.
“What else? Leave it here. The planet’s empty anyway!” Supreme Kai checked the entire planet and confirmed there were no living beings left. Relieved, he said, “On a dead planet like this, Majin Buu won’t be able to cause any more trouble.”
“Yes, that seems like the best option,” Kibito agreed, nodding vigorously.
“As long as we know where Majin Buu is, we can rest easy,” Supreme Kai said, his face lighting up with excitement.
“Exactly,” Kibito echoed.
With that, they used Instant Transmission to leave Earth, completely unaware of the massive vortex hovering in the sky just 3,000 meters away.
After returning to the Sacred World of the Kai, Supreme Kai fell into deep thought.
“Is something bothering you, Supreme Kai?” Kibito asked.
“That thing Merus said about the edge of the universe… What do you think, Kibito?” Supreme Kai wondered.
“He’s just spouting nonsense, trying to distract us!” Kibito responded quickly. “There can’t possibly be other universes. The end of the universe is just nothingness!”
“Should we investigate it?” Supreme Kai suggested.
“Let’s not… What if it’s a trap from Merus? We might end up stuck in some unknown realm of destruction!” Kibito warned, shaking his head.
“You’re right!” Supreme Kai agreed, nodding at Kibito’s words.
“In any case, we’ve found Majin Buu’s seal. That’s already a relief, considering how troublesome he is,” Kibito grumbled, clenching his teeth.
…
Universe 9, Outer Space
“Achoo!”
Majin Buu suddenly sneezed and scratched his head, confused.
“What’s up?” Broly glanced at Majin Buu.
“Feels like someone’s talking about me,” Majin Buu muttered.
“It’s probably Merus missing you,” Broly said with a slight smile.
“Hmph, I don’t like him,” Majin Buu shook his head. “I like you.”
Broly: “…”
The two continued to stand guard by Ren’s side, watching over him silently.
One day passed.
Two days.
A month.
Two months.
A year.
Two years.
Three years.
…
In the blink of an eye, 13 more years had passed.
The glowing ball of light around Ren had become denser and was now beginning to take on the shape of a person.
Seeing this, Broly and Majin Buu exchanged a glance, their eyes welling up with emotion.
“Is he coming back?” Majin Buu asked, his voice trembling with excitement.
Broly nodded vigorously, his face filled with hope and anticipation.
After waiting 24 long years, the moment had finally arrived.
“Yes!” Majin Buu cheered, clapping his hands with joy.
Broly continued to watch intently as the glowing light slowly formed into a humanoid shape.
“Whoosh!”
At that moment, a purple-red light flashed across the distant starry sky, leaving a trail of radiant flames.
Majin Buu froze, opening his mouth in surprise and pointing urgently in that direction.
Broly also saw the flash of purple-red light. Both Broly and Majin Buu were all too familiar with this particular glow.
“It’s a God of Destruction from another universe!” Broly’s brows furrowed slightly.
Majin Buu nodded in agreement.
“Let’s hope they don’t cause any trouble!” Broly immediately became alert and instructed Majin Buu, “Hide your energy now!”
Over the years, Majin Buu had learned how to conceal his energy from Broly, and without hesitation, he suppressed his power completely.
Broly also hid his own energy, not wanting to stir up trouble at this crucial moment.
After all, Ren was about to fully recover.
…
In the distance, Quitela was speeding through the starry sky, leaving a streak of purple-red light as he rushed toward the Realm of the Gods.
As he flew, something particularly bright caught his eye in a distant patch of space.
Quitela paused, his curiosity piqued, and glanced in that direction.
What he saw surprised him—a radiant figure taking shape, already resembling a human form.
“What’s that? Is a new angel being born?” Quitela muttered, rubbing his eyes in disbelief.
Then, as he looked more closely, he noticed a familiar pink, chubby figure nearby.
That pink guy… He looks like someone who participated in the God of Destruction selection tournament over 20 years ago.
What’s he doing here?
And besides him, there’s another person…
Quitela couldn’t quite place the other figure but felt he had seen them somewhere before.
Better check it out.
“Whoosh!”
Changing course, Quitela shot toward where Broly and Majin Buu were standing.
In an instant, Quitela arrived near them, his purple-red light fading as he approached.
“It’s Quitela?” Majin Buu’s expression shifted slightly.
Broly also looked more serious, nodding in confirmation.
Both had heard Ren and Merus speak of Quitela, the God of Destruction.
He was rumored to be the second strongest God of Destruction, only surpassed by Beerus.
“Is that the essence of a universe?” Quitela asked, flying closer to the radiant sphere forming near them, nearing the protective barrier Broly had set up.
It didn’t take long for Quitela to spot the barrier.
“What’s this thing?” Quitela snorted and poked at the barrier with his finger.
“Snap!”
The entire barrier shook violently, on the verge of collapsing.
“Oh? It’s sturdier than I thought,” Quitela said, slightly surprised.
“Don’t touch it!” Broly’s expression darkened as he barked at Quitela.
“What? Is that an angel forming?” Quitela asked mockingly, looking at the glowing figure with interest.
“Yes, but don’t enter the barrier,” Broly responded, trying to maintain a calm tone, not wanting any trouble at this critical moment.
“Do you even know who you’re talking to?” Quitela narrowed his eyes, his tone turning icy.
Most Gods of Destruction had little regard for others. After all, they were considered the most powerful beings in their respective universes.
The angelic race was powerful, but they were known for their neutrality. Additionally, there was a longstanding rumor that angels could not harm others without facing the consequence of disappearing, a piece of gossip that had been spilled by the Grand Priest at one of Zeno’s banquets long ago.
Upon hearing this, many angels had briefly shown discomfort, while the Gods of Destruction had listened carefully, gaining a deeper understanding of the angels.
The Gods of Destruction had often speculated that this explained why angels never engaged in battles.
As a result, most Gods of Destruction felt they could act freely within their universes, knowing that no one—not even the strongest warriors—could surpass their power.
Now, hearing Broly’s words, Quitela felt a surge of annoyance.
“I’m… I’m sorry. If my words offended you, I ask for your forgiveness,” Broly gritted his teeth, taking a deep breath, and forced out an apology. He also motioned for Majin Buu to stand down, shaking his head.
“If I defeat him, I’ll become the second strongest God of Destruction,” Majin Buu whispered quietly to Broly.
“Don’t do anything! Ren is still recovering!” Broly hissed, his eyes practically murderous.
“Fine, fine. I won’t fight him,” Majin Buu grumbled, clearly displeased.
“Oh? You’re apologizing to me? Speak louder—I didn’t hear you,” Quitela sneered.
“I said, I’m sorry!” Broly, his face tense, raised his voice and repeated his apology.
“Ah, I see. That pink guy must’ve told you who I am, right?” Quitela smirked. “I know you, pinky! You’re the lackey of that trainee angel, Merus, aren’t you? Did he ditch you? Now, you two are hanging around here, waiting for a new angel to be born so you can switch sides?”
“Yeah, you got it,” Majin Buu responded, nodding his head.
“So, you’ve set up this barrier here. What if I step inside? What will happen?” Quitela taunted, slowly flying toward the barrier and into it.
Broly hesitated, looking at Ren, who was still forming. He didn’t want to act rashly.
He feared that any confrontation might disrupt Ren’s recovery.
He had waited 24 years for this moment, and he couldn’t afford to ruin it now.
He had to endure it.
Broly had matured a lot over the past 24 years. He was no longer the reckless child who would attack on impulse.
“I’m inside!” Quitela teased, laughing, and then flew out again. “Now I’m outside!”
Broly stared intently at Quitela.
“I went in and came out. What are you going to do about it?” Quitela laughed, as if toying with them.
Broly and Majin Buu exchanged glances.
“Should we… hit him?” Majin Buu whispered, suggesting it to Broly.
Broly shook his head slightly, indicating that the time wasn’t right.
Even if they were to fight, it had to wait until Ren’s recovery was completely stable.
If they engaged now, the resulting energy fluctuations could seriously harm Ren, and their 24-year wait would be in vain.
“Look, I’m inside again, and then I’m outside. What’s the point of this barrier if it can’t stop me?” Quitela continued to mock them, his voice filled with contempt.
Broly and Majin Buu watched him closely, fearing he might do something reckless.
“Why are you looking at me like that? I can see the hatred in your eyes!” Quitela said with a mischievous grin, glancing at both of them. “If you’ve got guts, come at me!”
“I don’t want to fight! Please, leave this place!” Broly demanded coldly, his face stern. “You’d better not push me!”
