During the ninjutsu lesson, Mokutsuki explained, “Precise control of chakra greatly influences a ninja’s strength. For the next three weeks, we will focus on improving your chakra control.”
The second semester of the academy only lasts three and a half months, starting in early September and ending in mid-December. Today was November 6th, leaving only a month and a half before the break. According to the planned schedule, Mokutsuki began chakra control training.
Although there were three whole weeks, the goal wasn’t to master both tree climbing and water walking simultaneously; completing tree climbing training alone would be sufficient.
One reason is that the academy students also have theory and taijutsu classes in addition to ninjutsu, unlike the full-day training during special training sessions. The ninjutsu classes would only partially focus on chakra control; they also needed to continue learning the three basic techniques. Additionally, the learning efficiency of ordinary students was taken into account.
Despite having only B-level potential, Steel and Izumo were already considered quite capable within the academy, where most students had only C-level potential.
“Mokutsuki-sensei, what about those of us who have already completed the training?” Anko asked.
Anko, Steel, and the others had participated in the summer special training and met Mokutsuki’s course requirements.
“Continue with regular training,” Mokutsuki replied.
Although Anko and Steel were ahead, they still needed to learn higher-level techniques; they needed to deepen their understanding of current training.
Due to the need to use trees, Mokutsuki led the students to a small forest within the Ninja Academy. Konoha had abundant trees, and trees over ten meters tall were common.
As usual, Mokutsuki explained the principles, demonstrated the techniques, and even had a few students who had completed the training perform demonstrations. Only then did he allow the students to start practising.
Mokutsuki didn’t let them climb trees immediately but had them first get used to the feeling of gathering chakra in their feet. The feet are the most challenging part of the body for gathering chakras, and these first-year students had only been learning chakra control for a few months, making it very difficult for them.
Once they were somewhat familiar with the trees, they could start practising climbing them. Mokutsuki set the first week’s goal at eight meters; reaching this height would be a success.
However, during the first class, most students needed help to take more than two steps on the tree before falling off. At such heights, they didn’t even need Mokutsuki to catch them; they could land safely on their own.
“Mokutsuki-sensei, will there be special training after this semester ends?” Steel asked during a break.
“Unless something unexpected happens, there should be,” Mokutsuki nodded.
Unless the war ended, this unique training would likely continue, helping to accelerate the growth of lower-level ninjas.
“Mokutsuki-sensei, what are the conditions to join the special training?” A student asked eagerly.
The students in Mokutsuki’s class admired the progress made by Anko, Steel, and the others. Before the special training, they were firm but not overwhelmingly so. After the training, their strength improved significantly, as if they had completed an extra semester.
Hearing about the special training from their peers, many students were eager to participate. They believed it was fun and a great way to improve their skills, much better than staying home and playing during the break.
“For the next special training, it should be similar to the last time: all fourth-year students and the top eight in practical scores from each other grade,” Mokutsuki explained.
“Only eight students per grade? Can’t they accept more?” The students found the requirement relatively high.
“The details for the next special training aren’t confirmed yet, and it might not be me in charge,” Mokutsuki clarified.
If Hiruzen Sarutobi handed over the intern plan to Mokutsuki, he would focus on supervising the internships and examining whether completing missions could yield rewards.
After all, his students would eventually graduate. Might Guy and Obito graduate in a few months? Relying solely on school performance rewards would be challenging; they would need to continue earning them as ninjas.
If this approach had worked, Mokutsuki might have ensured that Shisui had completed his fourth year and gained more ninjutsu proficiency scrolls.

The rewards for the class improvement were better than the first time but not as good as those during the summer special training. Considering the number of students, this was normal.
Wind Blade was an A-rank Wind Release ninjutsu Mokutsuki hadn’t been familiar with but found quite impressive upon receiving its knowledge. The technique involved firing a wind blade from the fingertips, characterised by its speed and strong cutting power.
With an additional 320 chakra, Mokutsuki checked his total chakra reserves.

His chakra was nearing ten small cards. Despite not completing training tasks or receiving exam rewards recently, Mokutsuki’s growth rate still needed to be improved.
This rapid growth was primarily due to Shisui. Activating the Sharingan alone instantly granted Mokutsuki 800 chakra, increasing his daily natural chakra growth.
The Sharingan accelerated Shisui’s entry into a period of rapid chakra growth. With the highest level of trust, Shisui alone provided Mokutsuki with 1,800 chakras this month, several times more than Might Guy and Obito combined.
Mokutsuki could only be grateful for such a valuable disciple. Even with just the initial development, the results were impressive. As Shisui matured, the chakra return would become even more substantial.
Mokutsuki estimated that by the end of this semester, his chakra would likely surpass 30,000, though only over.
While Shisui and Obito were engaged in intense breathing technique battles, Might Guy had a breakthrough in his Rock Breathing technique, reaching proficiency level 50 and beginning Full Concentration Breathing training.
Though his progress was still behind Shisui and Obito, Might Guy was highly motivated. If he hadn’t given up on tedious foundational training before, he certainly wouldn’t abandon the more visibly effective breathing techniques now. The incremental feeling of getting stronger was irresistible for Might Guy.
