“Since it’s your request, Mokutsuki-sensei, I can’t refuse,” said Might Duy as he led Mokutsuki and Might Guy to his training spot.
“Mokutsuki-sensei, how would you like to see it? Should I demonstrate the effects of opening the gates?” Duy asked once they arrived.
“Yes, if possible, I’d like to spar with you in your Six Gates state,” Mokutsuki replied.
For someone with an average physique, the third gate is the last safe zone, but for someone like Duy, who has been training in the Eight Gates for over twenty years, opening up to the sixth gate for a short period is OK.
“Alright, I’ll open up to the sixth gate,” Duy agreed.
“Gate of Healing, open… Gate of View, open!” Duy swiftly activated the Eight Gates up to the sixth gate. With each gate he opened, his aura grew more robust. When he reached the sixth gate, his body was enveloped in green energy, and his sheer presence made Guy unable to move.
With his Byakugan, Mokutsuki observed the chakra in Duy’s body growing more robust.
“Mokutsuki-sensei, aren’t you going to use the Eight Gates?” Duy asked, assuming Mokutsuki wanted a showdown using the same technique.
“I have mastered other taijutsu techniques, Duy-senpai. Please feel free to come at me with everything you have,” Mokutsuki assured him, estimating that Duy in his Six Gates state would be at most at the level of an elite Jonin.
“Then, Mokutsuki-sensei, be careful,” Duy warned before instantly dashing forward and punching Mokutsuki.
Maintaining the constant state of Rock Breathing, Mokutsuki’s speed and strength were greatly enhanced. Coupled with the powerful insight of his Byakugan, he quickly sidestepped Duy’s attack.
“Haha, this is going to be a battle full of youth!” Duy exclaimed, deciding not to hold back after seeing Mokutsuki dodge so effortlessly.
Initially, Duy didn’t know Mokutsuki’s actual level and was worried about hurting him, so he had yet to use his full power.
“Next, I’ll be even faster,” Duy warned before vanishing from sight and kicking towards Mokutsuki.
“Rock Breathing, Total Concentration Breathing!” Mokutsuki deepened his breathing from the constant state, further enhancing his strength and speed, and met Duy’s kick with a punch.
Bang!!
The massive impact from their collision knocked down the surrounding trees, forcing Guy to stumble back.
“Both are so fast and strong!” Guy watched the battle intently.
Having learned both the Eight Gates and Rock Breathing, Guy was amazed by the power displayed by Duy in the Sixth Gate and Mokutsuki with his breathing technique.
After the clash, Duy stepped back a meter while Mokutsuki stepped back three meters.
“My body still falls short,” Mokutsuki thought to himself.
“Gate of Opening, open!” Mokutsuki also activated the Eight Gates, but only the first gate.
The two resumed their fight.
With his body further enhanced by the Eight Gates, Mokutsuki, even against Duy’s full power in the Sixth Gate, was evenly matched.
“Gate of Healing, open!” Mokutsuki then opened the second gate, increasing his strength even more.
“Leaf Whirlwind!”
Mokutsuki unleashed a high-speed whirlwind kick towards Duy, who countered with his full power.
Boom!!
A massive explosion echoed as their clash created cracks in the ground, and debris flew in all directions.
Mokutsuki stepped back half a step this time while Duy retreated three meters.
“In pure taijutsu, without using markings, the combination of two gates from the Eight Gates, Rock Breathing, and the Byakugan gives me the strength to surpass an elite Jonin,” Mokutsuki calculated.
Even without considering the high-level ninjutsu he hadn’t used, Mokutsuki had many abilities he hadn’t displayed yet. He could switch breathing techniques during a fight. If he switched to Thunder Breathing, Duy in the Sixth Gate wouldn’t be able to touch him. He also hadn’t used Transparent World.

“That’s enough, Duy-senpai,” Mokutsuki said, stopping the fight.
After all, the sixth gate of the Eight Gates shouldn’t be kept open unnecessarily for too long.
Hearing Mokutsuki, Duy deactivated the Eight Gates, and the green energy around him dissipated.
“You’re so strong, Mokutsuki-sensei. Opening only two gates made you stronger than me in the sixth gate,” Duy praised with a thumbs-up.
Seeing how unexpectedly strong Mokutsuki was made Duy happy because Mokutsuki was Guy’s teacher.
Having such an influential teacher meant a lot to Duy, knowing that Guy would have a much smoother path in his training.
“Senpai, you’re very strong as well. I’ve heard some negative things about you before,” Mokutsuki suddenly said.
“Haha, you mean the talk about me being a ‘forever Genin’? Don’t worry about that, Mokutsuki-sensei. It doesn’t bother me,” Duy laughed heartily.
“Before meeting you, Duy-senpai, I thought those were baseless rumors. You raised such a diligent and hardworking son like Guy. How could you be like they said?”
“Now that I’ve sparred with you, I’m even more certain of my thoughts. With your strength, becoming a Jonin should be easy,” Mokutsuki continued.
“It’s not their fault. Before mastering the Eight Gates, I really was just a useless Genin,” Duy explained.
Duy became a forever Genin because he spent over twenty years training the Eight Gates, which left him weak and a burden to any team.
When he mastered the Eight Gates, his reputation was so poor that he could only get the most straightforward missions like catching cats, picking up trash, and moving things. Even then, he had to beg to get those missions.
No one wanted to team up with him, no one believed in his abilities, and he had no opportunities to prove himself.
“Senpai, with your strength, it’s Konoha’s loss to have you as just a Genin,” Mokutsuki sighed.
“Haha, even catching cats helps maintain Konoha’s stability,” Duy said, showing his good-natured attitude.
He felt it didn’t matter what happened to him as long as Guy could achieve his dreams.
“Father, Mokutsuki-sensei, both of you are so strong!” The guy was still relishing the recent battle.
After the fight, Mokutsuki chatted with the father and son for a while before leaving.
Today’s visit had two purposes: laying the groundwork for increasing trust and assessing strengths.
Mokutsuki was satisfied with the results. Even with the primary use of the breathing technique and two gates, he was more substantial than Duy in the Sixth Gate. Only a few top-tier individuals in Konoha could pose a danger to him now.
