Chapter 145: Vegeta, You’ve Really Let Me Down!

“You still have a long way to go with your basics. Before anything else, I plan to send you somewhere to train properly,” Ren said after a moment of thought, then added to Goku, “Once your foundation is solid, I think it’ll be time for you to have your true breakthrough.”

“Though I don’t really understand it all, I know you’re a good person!” Goku said seriously, nodding his head.

Piccolo opened his mouth, hesitated, but said nothing.

I want to become stronger too.

But how do I ask?

This guy, Ren, is part of Goku’s race.

What identity should I use to ask for his help?

“Piccolo,” Ren said, turning toward him.

Piccolo was a bit surprised, not expecting Ren to address him directly. His expression became serious.

“Piccolo, do you want to become stronger as well?” Ren asked with a smile.

“Yes, I do want to become stronger!” Piccolo nodded firmly.

“The way for you to grow stronger is different from Goku’s method,” Ren said thoughtfully. “Here’s the deal: help me with one task, and once you’ve successfully completed it, I’ll find a way to make you stronger than before.”

“What task?” Piccolo asked.

“Take care of Gohan and train him to become a great warrior,” Ren said calmly.

Piccolo looked at the unconscious Gohan. After a brief moment of silence, he agreed without hesitation.

Piccolo had already sensed that Gohan was unique. If trained well, this kid could prove very useful in the future.

Ren then slowly walked toward Raditz, with Broly following close behind like a loyal follower.

Seeing Ren and especially Broly approaching, Raditz’s body trembled even more violently.

“How strong is Vegeta now?” Ren asked curiously.

“18,000…” Raditz stammered, swallowing nervously.

“Useless! After all these years, he hasn’t improved at all?” Ren’s face darkened with disappointment.

“Well… actually, his power level was 18,858 when I left,” Raditz quickly corrected himself, his voice trembling as he noticed Broly rubbing his backside. Raditz’s face turned pale.

“Twenty-four years have passed, and his power level only increased by 800?” Ren sighed.

“Well… it’s not Vegeta’s fault. Over the past 20 years, the planets we’ve conquered had inhabitants with lower power levels than mine…” Raditz explained honestly.

Ren ignored Raditz and waved his staff, projecting a holographic image.

The image showed Vegeta and Nappa on a distant planet in Universe 7, cleaning up after a battle.

From time to time, Vegeta and Nappa tried to get a signal from Raditz’s scouter, but the transmission kept cutting in and out.

“Vegeta, Raditz’s signal is gone again,” Nappa sighed. “Once we’re done here, should we head to Earth?”

“Hmph, that idiot thought dragging Kakarot, a low-class warrior, into this would help? I’d rather use Saibamen!” Vegeta scoffed. “Instead of wasting a year on some insignificant planet, we should focus on our main target!”

“Prince Vegeta is right… even if Kakarot and Raditz could transform into Great Apes, they’d lose their minds in the process!” Nappa nodded. “Let’s leave him to his fate. It’s a miracle that fool has survived this long.”

As they spoke casually, Raditz, lying on the ground, turned green with embarrassment.

Talking behind my back, huh?

That idiot Nappa is always adding fuel to the fire.

Raditz was also shocked by how Ren could show them this high-tech projection of Vegeta.

I wonder if Vegeta can see us too?

“Who’s Vegeta? The spiky-haired guy?” Goku asked curiously, walking up to the projection and poking at Vegeta and Nappa with his finger.

He didn’t feel anything.

“Amazing!” Goku exclaimed.

Broly: “…”

Is this guy an idiot?

He’s even dumber than I was as a kid.

Piccolo remained silent, watching the projection of the two strangers closely.

Both had tails, clearly Saiyans.

And this Vegeta guy… he’s more than 15 times stronger than Goku’s brother?

That’s terrifying!

Is there any hope of winning?

“Vegeta,” Ren suddenly called out.

As soon as Ren spoke, Vegeta in the projection began looking around, trying to find the source of the voice.

“Who’s talking?” Nappa also heard Ren’s voice, thanks to Ren’s manipulation.

“Show yourself! Don’t think that just because you’re speaking in my mind, I can’t figure out who you are! If I unleash my energy, I’ll find you,” Vegeta said coldly, his expression darkening.

“Go ahead and try,” Ren sighed.

Ren had planned to introduce himself, but since Vegeta was acting arrogant, he decided to let him continue showing off for a bit.

Now that Ren had grown up and was no longer the boy he once was, even his voice had matured.

Moreover, since becoming an angel, Ren’s appearance had changed significantly.

No wonder Raditz hadn’t recognized him.

“Boom!”

Vegeta suddenly unleashed a powerful burst of energy, stirring up a storm across the planet.

Ren smiled, snapped his fingers, and when the smoke cleared, Vegeta smirked confidently.

“Hmph, I’ve found you!” Vegeta sneered, looking toward the sky.

“Did you find them, Prince Vegeta?” Nappa, surprised and excited, followed Vegeta’s gaze but saw nothing, scratching his head in confusion.

“Hmph, I’ve pinpointed your location. Show yourself!” Vegeta scowled, extending his hand toward the sky.

“Well done, Prince Vegeta,” Ren laughed.

“Show yourself now!” Vegeta shouted. “I’ve fought across countless planets. You think you can fool me with some cheap trick?”

As soon as Vegeta finished speaking, Ren’s figure slowly appeared in the direction Vegeta had been looking.

Hovering in the sky above the planet was a handsome man holding a staff.

He wore the robes of an angel, with a light-yellow halo floating around his neck. His short hair was silver-white, and he carried a black staff. A white tail swayed gently behind him.

“Who… who are you?” Vegeta furrowed his brow. There was something familiar about this man.

Wait, no… it wasn’t the person that looked familiar—it was his appearance.

Where have I seen this before?

“Prince Vegeta, it’s been a while,” Ren smiled.

“Who are you? Do I know you?” Vegeta asked, bewildered as he tried to recall the man’s identity.

“I’m Ren. Don’t you remember me, Your Highness?” Ren grinned, showing off his pearly white teeth.

“Ren? You’re Ren? Am I seeing things? What’s with this outfit… and why is your hair white? Saiyan hair only changes color when we grow old… Did your training in Ultra Instinct age you prematurely?” Vegeta asked, stunned.

“You’ve got quite the imagination,” Ren chuckled.

“Am I wrong?” Vegeta snorted.

“This outfit is because I’ve become a god, a real one, with eternal life,” Ren explained with a smile.

“What? A real god? Eternal life?” Vegeta froze. “Is that true? I don’t believe it!”

“Whether you believe it or not doesn’t matter,” Ren said. “But deep down, I think you’re already starting to question it.”

Ren knew Vegeta well. After all, Vegeta had doubted the existence of the legendary Super Saiyan when Ren first mentioned it.

It wasn’t until Ren brought Broly forward that Vegeta felt the sting of despair.

“Hmph, what do you want from me?” Vegeta asked, still skeptical.

“When I healed you, I boosted your power level to 18,000. Twenty-four years later, your power level has only increased by 800. You’ve really let me down, Vegeta,” Ren sighed.

Vegeta felt like he’d been hit where it hurt the most. Enraged, he shouted, “That’s none of your business! Who do you think you are?”

Broly was ready to jump in, cracking his knuckles and eager to fight.

“Come to Earth, and I’ll have your lifelong rival put you in your place,” Ren said, smiling instead of getting angry.

“You’re on Earth?” Vegeta asked, surprised.

“That’s right,” Ren nodded. “Broly and I are both here. We ran into Raditz… poor guy. Broly blasted him away with just one fart. Oh, right… I’m a real god now, so I should speak more politely. My apologies.”

Exquisite: “…”

You did that on purpose, didn’t you?

Raditz wanted to cry. He felt like dying.

“Could you stop stating such harsh truths? I feel so embarrassed! I mean… I got blown away by a fart.

At least I didn’t die from it.

Now, that would have been the ultimate humiliation.

‘A fart… sent Raditz flying…’ Nappa broke into a cold sweat.

‘And who’s that up in the sky? Your clone? Is playing around with these magic tricks fun for you?’ Vegeta snorted.

‘You can interpret it however you want,’ Ren said calmly, not explaining further. ‘Head to Earth immediately and challenge Kakarot, your lifelong rival.’

‘Hmph, stop joking. I don’t have time to waste on a planet like that,’ Vegeta’s expression shifted, and he firmly rejected the idea.

‘Broly and I won’t interfere, I promise,’ Ren said seriously.

Vegeta paused for three seconds before deciding, ‘Fine, no more than 10 months. See you on Earth!’

‘Good,’ Ren said as he slowly raised his hand, pointing at Vegeta from afar.

‘What do you think you’re doing?’ Vegeta immediately assumed a combat stance. ‘Don’t think I don’t know! Your clone has extremely weak attack power—I can tell!’

Boom!

With a mere wave of Ren’s hand, an invisible force struck down from the sky.

Accompanied by a thunderous roar, the ground beneath Vegeta and Nappa caved in deeply.

The apparition of Ren in the sky vanished instantly.

Once everything settled, Vegeta and Nappa turned to look around, noticing a massive, bottomless crater just a meter away from them. The pit was dark, with glimpses of molten lava flowing deep below.

Nappa’s face paled, and he broke out in cold sweat. Vegeta clenched his fists tightly, trembling slightly in fear.

Nappa flew up to see how deep the pit was. The moment he reached the air, his eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.

‘Prince Vegeta, look!’ Nappa called out.

Frowning, Vegeta ascended into the sky and glanced downward. The crater was shaped like a giant handprint.

Vegeta shuddered again, his face growing even paler.

Just one hand gesture… and it left such a huge mark on the planet?

Who’s he trying to scare?

I can do that too!

‘Damn it!’ Vegeta clenched his fists, his entire body trembling.

What Vegeta and Nappa didn’t know was that Ren had created this crater from a different universe.

The only one present who fully understood the terror of the scene was Broly.

Even across universes, Ren was still capable of pulling off something like that.

I could never do that.

Ren truly is extraordinary.

Vegeta, You’ve Really Let Me Down! (Part 2)

Even so, Goku and Piccolo were both shocked by the immense crater, unsure what to make of it.

Could someone really cause such destruction from so far away, across a whole universe?

That’s terrifying.

‘Raditz, you can leave now. Come back in about 10 months with Vegeta,’ Ren instructed Raditz.

‘Y-Yes… thank you,’ Raditz nodded vigorously.

Instinctively, Raditz began crawling toward his spaceship. Only after a while did he realize his ship had been destroyed.

His expression froze, and he felt like dying.

Snap!

With a mere flick of his staff, Ren pointed at the wrecked spaceship.

In just a few seconds, the broken parts of the ship came together, reassembling into a fully functional spacecraft.

Broly walked over, grabbed the ship with one hand, and with the other, he picked Raditz up and stuffed him inside.

Crack!

A bone snapped.

‘I… I broke something…’ Raditz cried out in pain, tears streaming down his face.

Click!

Broly efficiently closed the ship’s hatch and gave it a gentle kick.

Whoosh!

The ship spun thousands of times in the air.

Inside, Raditz was dizzy from all the spinning, but he gritted his teeth, enduring the intense pain as he quickly piloted the ship away from Earth.

‘Let’s go get some food first,’ Ren said thoughtfully. ‘After we eat at Bulma’s place, I’ll send you off for training.’

‘Sure, no problem!’ Goku agreed eagerly.

Ren glanced at Piccolo.

‘I’ll skip the food. I only need water,’ Piccolo said, pausing before asking, ‘Ren, as per our agreement, if I successfully train Gohan, you’ll make me stronger, right?’

‘Yes,’ Ren nodded.

‘Deal!’ Piccolo agreed, extending his hand toward Goku.

‘Take good care of Gohan, or Chi-Chi will kill me,’ Goku warned.

‘Hmph,’ Piccolo snorted.

Goku was reluctant to let go of his son, knowing Gohan would face tough training under Piccolo.

‘Goku! Hand over your son!’ Piccolo demanded, adding, ‘Don’t worry, he won’t die.’

‘Well… okay,’ Goku nodded, passing Gohan to Piccolo with a serious expression. ‘I trust you.’

Piccolo smirked.

You trust the Demon King? You’re too naive.

‘I’ll return with the boy when the Saiyans arrive,’ Piccolo said before launching into the sky with Gohan, vanishing from sight.

‘Bulma’s still at Master Roshi’s island, right?’ Ren glanced into the crystal ball on his staff.

‘Yes, that’s right,’ Goku nodded.

‘See you at Master Roshi’s island,’ Ren said before taking off.

Whoosh!

In a flash, Ren transformed into a radiant streak of light, heading swiftly toward Master Roshi’s island.

Broly followed suit, unleashing a burst of energy as he pursued Ren.

In just a moment, both of them disappeared from Goku’s sight.

‘Hey, wait for me!’ Goku finally snapped back to reality, quickly summoning his Flying Nimbus.

On Master Roshi’s island.

‘What do we do? Should we go check it out?’ Krillin asked.

‘We should definitely go,’ Master Roshi nodded seriously. ‘If Goku’s brother wins, Earth could face its end… and maybe, if we’re lucky, we could help in some way.’

“Let’s go then,” Bulma agreed, thinking Master Roshi made a valid point. She quickly took out a Capsule Corp capsule and tossed it.

Pop!

The capsule transformed into a jet plane.

Just as the three of them were about to board the jet…

Whoosh!

In the next moment, Ren descended from the sky like a brilliant star, landing instantly on the scene.

The sudden appearance of Ren startled all three of them.

“Bulma, long time no see. You’ve grown into a fine young lady,” Ren said with a smile, looking her over.

Bulma rubbed her eyes and stared at Ren in confusion.

“Can’t recognize me?” Ren asked with a grin.

“Y-You… You’re Ren?” Bulma’s eyes widened, and her body trembled slightly as she gazed at him.

“Yes, my hair color changed. Is that why you didn’t recognize me?” Ren beamed.

“Is it really you?” Bulma’s emotions overwhelmed her, and tears flowed uncontrollably from her eyes.

She immediately approached Ren, angrily glaring at him while wiping her tears.

“In the blink of an eye, Bulma has reached the tofu stage of life,” Ren teased.

“You…” Bulma suddenly felt a little hurt.

Snap!

Ren pointed his staff at Bulma from a distance.

Whoosh!

An invisible wave of angelic power covered Bulma.

In just an instant, the small wrinkles at the corners of Bulma’s eyes vanished, and her slightly sagging chest became firm and youthful once again.

“This… what…” Bulma was utterly shocked as she felt the changes in her body.

It was as if she had regained her youth in an instant. Although 29 years old isn’t old, for a woman, it’s still a tricky age.

But that was no problem for Ren, who could use his angelic power to restore Bulma’s youth.

With just that one gesture, Bulma had reverted to her 16-year-old vitality. Even her face looked younger, with her mature features replaced by a more youthful charm.

“I’ve restored your youth,” Ren said with a smile.

“How… how did you do that? It’s amazing!” Bulma was ecstatic, with more tears of joy streaming down her face.

“Consider it a little compensation for all the years you missed me,” Ren said thoughtfully.

“Hmph, since you’re being so nice, I’ll forgive you!” Bulma pouted.

“Are you really Ren?” Krillin asked, blinking as he curiously looked at Ren.

“Hello, Ren, I’m a good friend of Bulma’s…” Master Roshi stepped forward to greet him, his eyes twinkling.

“Hello,” Ren nodded in acknowledgment.

“Can you restore my youth too?” Master Roshi grinned mischievously. “I want to regain my former vigor!”

“And I’m Bulma’s good friend as well… Could you make me a little taller?” Krillin rubbed his hands in anticipation, scratching his head awkwardly.

“You two are being ridiculous!” Bulma scolded them, then turned to Ren. “Ren, don’t pay attention to them. Those unreasonable requests don’t need to be answered.”

Master Roshi: “…”

Krillin: “…”

How stingy!

Now that Ren is back, couldn’t he at least do us a small favor?

“I don’t need to restore my youth, just my vigor,” Master Roshi said quietly, scratching his head in embarrassment.

“Just for a minute?” Ren chuckled.

Master Roshi: “…”

As they were talking, Broly descended from the sky, landing beside Ren.

“Huh? Who’s this…” Krillin looked confused.

“Wait… is that Broly?” Bulma rubbed her eyes, realizing who he was.

“Yes, I’m Broly,” Broly nodded. “Are you Bulma?”

“I can’t believe how much you’ve grown… You even speak so well now,” Bulma said with a sigh, recalling the mischievous boy he once was.

He even broke our little robot!

“Hey, Master Roshi, do you remember him?” Bulma teased, looking at Master Roshi.

Master Roshi squinted at Broly, trying to remember.

“Oh, it’s you. I remember now,” Broly said, glancing at Master Roshi. “Why are you still carrying that turtle shell? It’s not sturdy at all.”

Master Roshi shuddered, his face turning pale.

At that moment, memories of being swung around by his shell flashed in his mind.

What a terrifying child.

And now he’s all grown up!

After some casual chatting, Bulma suddenly remembered Goku.

“Wait, Goku! Ren, can you help Goku? He might be in danger!” Bulma quickly said. “Do you remember, Goku is also a Saiyan! When Jaco came to Earth back then, it might have been because of Goku!”

Just as Bulma finished speaking, Goku descended from the sky on his Flying Nimbus.

“Goku, you’re okay?” Krillin exclaimed with joy. “Did you already defeat your brother Raditz? Where’s Piccolo? And your son Gohan?”

“Uh… I’ll explain later,” Goku said, scratching his head, unsure of where to begin.

“Let’s head to Bulma’s house and eat something first. I haven’t eaten in 24 years,” Ren suggested. “I’ll take Bulma home, and you all can meet there. Contact the other fighters and prepare for the battle in 10 months.”

“Should we gather Tien, Yamcha, and Chiaotzu too?” Goku asked.

“Sometimes even cannon fodder has a role to play—it makes the story longer,” Ren chuckled before picking Bulma up.

Then, with a light tap of his staff on the ground…

Snap!

A radiant glow surrounded Ren and Bulma.

Whoosh!

In an instant, Ren disappeared, leaving only a brilliant trail of light behind.

In the blink of an eye, Ren had brought Bulma back to Capsule Corporation.

After crossing into the world of Dragon Ball, Ren became a Saiyan of Planet Vegeta. At the start, he traded a simple starchy sausage made of technology and hard work for Whis's simplified version of Ultra Instinct. Unexpectedly, he ended up cultivating the power of an angel.

From then on, Ren strived to become an angel.

Years later.

All the gods sat together at one table during the 88th convention of the Universe's Gods of Destruction, Supreme Kais, and apprentice angels.

Beerus suddenly stood up: "Ren, stand up for a moment."

Ren: "????"

Beerus: "Just stand up, it'll be quick."

Ren stood up, puzzled.

Beerus: "I wanted to say that everyone here is trash!"

Ren: "Beerus, sit down. I want to join in too."

Beerus: "You're an angel, why do you want to join?"
