Broly hovered in the sky, sensing a strange presence rapidly approaching from the west. This energy was unlike anything he had encountered before, even stranger than the lizard-men’s. It was a constant, unwavering force, as if moving in a straight line without any fluctuations, even while flying at high speed.
Despite Broly’s incredible mastery over controlling his own energy, he knew he couldn’t achieve such a level of precision. This level of control seemed beyond the capability of any living being. Normally, even the slightest exertion of force or breath would cause subtle fluctuations in energy.
“Could this be the threat my instincts have been warning me about?” Broly thought, a spark of excitement welling up inside him like a shark scenting blood in the water. If the speed he just sensed was the fastest this entity could go, it would soon be at his mercy.
With his own lightning-fast movement, it would take mere moments to catch up with this target.
“But before I enjoy the main course, let’s deal with these appetizers first,” Broly muttered to himself, glancing down at the chaos below.
In an instant, Broly appeared behind Colonel Johnson, who was in the process of crushing a police car. The moment Johnson felt Broly’s presence, his body froze as if it had been locked in place. Despite having fused with lizard DNA, which gave him powerful animal instincts similar to Peter Parker’s spider-sense (though less refined), Johnson’s entire being screamed in warning. The aura coming from behind him was terrifying, far beyond anything he could fight.
Johnson dropped the police car and immediately fell to his knees.
“Great Master, I offer myself to you. I will serve you as your most loyal servant,” Johnson said, pressing his face against the ground, too terrified to even twitch.
Broly shook his head, unimpressed. He realized that humans who had fused with animal DNA had a strange way of sensing strength. No matter how much he suppressed his energy to the level of an ordinary human, as long as he was within a certain range, they would instinctively sense his true power.
It made combat feel boring.
Peter Parker and Bob Eagle were stunned by what they saw. They could hardly believe that the seemingly invincible Colonel Johnson would surrender so easily, groveling at the feet of Broly.
From their distance, they were too far to sense the overwhelming energy radiating from Broly.
The other lizard-men became agitated, unable to accept that their leader, who had been so vocal about replacing humanity, was now bowing to a mere human.
In the sky, a news helicopter captured every detail of the scene.
“This is CNN reporting live. The Green Demon has appeared! Directly beneath us, at about eighty meters, the leader of the lizard-men has knelt before him. What connection could they possibly have? Is the Green Demon another product of Oscorp’s experiments?” Louise Lane, the CNN reporter, trembled with excitement. The Green Demon’s rampage in Mexico City had made him a household name in the U.S., with some people even forming cult-like followings to worship him. Just this footage alone could propel her career into the limelight.
She signaled the pilot to lower the helicopter for a better shot, but the pilot, remembering the footage from Mexico, ascended instead. No amount of money was worth the risk of getting too close to the Green Demon, who could fire devastating energy blasts.
Broly ignored the helicopter and raised a finger, releasing several bright energy blasts.
Dodonpa!
In an instant, nearly all the lizard-men had their heads pierced by Broly’s energy blasts. Their once-tough skulls, which could withstand gunfire, were no more resistant than foam, each sporting a hole large enough to fit a ping-pong ball. Even their formidable vitality couldn’t save them from death.
Blood and gore soaked the ground.
Bob Eagle stood up, glancing nervously at the lifeless bodies of the lizard-men nearby.
He shuddered. “There’s still one left,” he muttered.
Broly scanned the area.
Colonel Johnson, fueled by the desperation of survival, unleashed a burst of strength far beyond his limits. He darted forward on all fours, becoming a blur as he raced toward a nearby sewer opening.
He flung the manhole cover aside, ready to leap into the sewer, but another energy blast from Broly shot straight toward him, piercing his body.
Splash!
The sound of water echoed from the sewer.
“He’s still alive,” Broly remarked, his sharp vision detecting that Johnson had twisted his head just in time, causing the energy blast to shave off part of his skull without killing him outright.
Broly formed a new energy sphere in his hand and, in the blink of an eye, appeared above the sewer opening, hurling the blast inside.
Boom!
A deep rumble shook the ground, as if the earth itself had turned over. Water shot up in a towering column, and the sounds of steel and concrete buckling and cracking filled the air. The ground along the sewer line caved in, creating a crater as water from the sewer flooded into the newly formed depression.
Broly focused for a moment, confirming that he could no longer sense Colonel Johnson’s energy. He turned to Bob Eagle.
Bob stiffened under Broly’s gaze. Though he wasn’t afraid to die, he instinctively feared the overwhelming power radiating from Broly.
“What’s your name?” Broly asked, noticing that Bob looked oddly similar to Cade.
“Bob… Bob Lee Eagle,” Bob replied, his voice hoarse from his torn vocal cords, which had yet to fully heal.
“You can turn back into human form, right?” Broly asked, sensing the purity of Bob’s energy. It was even cleaner than Peter Parker’s, much like how Dr. Connors’ energy had been after Broly had purged him of his evil influence.
“Yes,” Bob said.
His scales receded, and within moments, he had returned to his human form. He bore a striking resemblance to Cade, almost as if they were twins.
Broly made a mental note to ask Cade later if he had a brother named Bob. Channeling his energy, he split it in two, sending healing waves into Peter Parker and George Stacy.
Both of them had sustained severe injuries and would have bled out without immediate care.
Having mastered the fourth stage of his “Ninefold True Martial God Technique,” Broly’s energy had gained a powerful, life-giving force. As soon as it entered Peter and George’s bodies, their injuries stopped worsening and began to heal.
“Take them to the hospital,” Broly instructed, glancing skyward before transforming into a streak of golden light and vanishing from sight.
