“Drip… drip…”
The sharp scent of blood filled the air as drops fell. Patron tilted his head slightly, revealing two bleeding holes in his shoulder, which stained his chest with a steady stream of blood.
Had he not sensed the danger and dodged in time, those holes would have been in his neck instead of his shoulder.
This kid was fiercer than he had anticipated.
“Oh my god… he actually injured the fearsome Patron,” murmured the onlookers in disbelief. Foxy kept surprising them, shattering their expectations again and again.
Initially, they thought Patron would kill Foxy instantly after using his powers, but Foxy held his ground and managed to injure Patron.
This was shocking, especially considering Foxy was just a kid.
“Boom…”
The rubble shook and was flung away by a powerful force, revealing Foxy, bloodied and battered. His left eye was shut, and his right eye was bloodshot, the three scars on his face giving him a wild look.
Leaving bloody footprints with each step, Foxy struggled out of the debris, panting heavily.
“Kid, what’s your name?”
Watching the battered Foxy, Patron hesitated. His initial anger was now replaced by a cold calm. This kid was not ordinary. He knew the Navy’s Six Powers—Soru, Geppo, and Shigan—which meant he had an extraordinary background.
The most likely scenario was that the Navy was grooming him. Navy officers or even admirals could be watching from the shadows.
He could fight against a Rear Admiral, but against an Admiral, it would be tough.
This fight had been going on for over ten minutes. It was impossible that the Navy stationed in Loguetown, including three Vice Admirals, hadn’t noticed. The lack of intervention indicated something was off.
A kid with such potential would surely attract some level of attention, even if he weren’t the top priority. The Navy might allow this to train the kid, using him as a whetstone.
Underestimating the Navy was dangerous. With the upcoming execution of the Pirate King, the Navy had undoubtedly made preparations, possibly involving other World Government agencies.
Patron wasn’t just a brute; he could think and strategize, so he hesitated. Killing this kid might provoke retaliation from the Navy, possibly leading to his death. Escaping Loguetown was out of the question, given the current situation.
Observing the sea, one would notice that reckless and free pirates had one thing in common: overwhelming strength. Their power was so great that it overshadowed all schemes and strategies.
Patron wasn’t just a clever pirate; he understood the delicate balance between strength and cunning.
He hesitated, knowing that if he spared Foxy, his reputation would suffer. But killing Foxy might provoke severe consequences.
“A pity.”
Some pirates shook their heads, feeling a strange sympathy for Patron. Overthinking could be a curse.
As Patron hesitated, some high-ranking Navy officers were watching from the shadows.
“Navy Sergeant Foxy,” Foxy introduced himself, eyes fixed on the conflicted Patron.
Foxy didn’t care about the politics. He wanted to fight, to master the heat surging within him. This battle was a rare opportunity to unlock his potential, even if it meant risking his life.
He recalled Vice Admiral Tsuru’s words: only through life-and-death battles could one truly unlock their potential.
He had already escaped death many times and wasn’t afraid of doing so again.
Foxy launched another attack without further ado, not allowing Patron to speak. His face contorted with rage, Foxy struck at Patron, channeling the elusive heat through his Shigan.
Patron, infuriated by Foxy’s persistence, lashed out. His rationality slipped as he decided to kill Foxy.
“Bang!”
Foxy was sent flying and crashed to the ground. Despite the pain, he immediately got up and attacked again.
“Boom… boom…”
The relentless assault continued. Like a wounded beast, Foxy kept coming back, no matter how many times Patron knocked him down. Blood poured from his wounds, and he staggered, barely able to stand.
But he was smiling.
The heat inside him was becoming more pronounced, and he could now somewhat control it.
It was Armament Haki, although not yet fully manifested.
“Crazy.”
“This kid is insane.”
The onlookers were in awe. Foxy had shown an indomitable spirit that changed their perception of him.
Patron, now enraged, decided to end it. He covered his claws with Haki and charged at Foxy.
Blood dripped from Foxy, creating a crimson pool around him. He seemed barely able to stand.
“Foxy.”
In the shadows, Vice Admiral Dalmatian, who had been watching, was about to intervene but was stopped by a man in plain clothes.
“Vice Admiral Kano, if we don’t intervene, it might be too late for Foxy.”
Dalmatian looked anxiously at the older man beside him, a seasoned Vice Admiral with a short beard. This Vice Admiral belonged to the same era as Garp, Zephyr, and Tsuru, making him one of the Navy’s pillars.
While not as famous or intense as the legends, he was still a formidable sea force.
“Don’t worry, this kid is a Devil Fruit user,” Kano replied calmly. Being a high-ranking officer, he better understood the promising cadets in the Navy Academy.
Dalmatian hesitated but then relaxed slightly. With Vice Admiral Kano present, they could rescue Foxy if necessary.
