However, at this moment, Leif had completely fallen into idol worship. Previously, they had only heard of Mosen but have yet to see him in person. And now, seeing him in person, she found him incredibly handsome.
Mosen finally freed himself from his earlier resentment. All that nonsense about lacking a girlfriend? Nonsense. Those were just rumours.
Right before him was a cute girl. She was a bit young and flat-chested, but she had great taste. She would achieve great things in the future.
“Hello, Leif. I’m Mosen, Wenster’s older brother. It’s wonderful that he has such a cute friend like you,” Mosen said, smiling as he shook Leif’s hand, nearly causing her to faint from happiness.
Webster rolled his eyes, thinking his friend had completely fallen under Mosen’s spell. As for the bump on his head, he knew resisting was futile since he couldn’t win a fight against his brother.
Curiosity finally got the better of Webster, and he asked Mosen, “When did you become a captain?”
Bang! Another bump on his head.
“Remember to address me as ‘brother,’ my dear little brother. You shouldn’t be rude in front of your friend.”
“Yes, yes, Wenster, you should be polite,” Leif said, her eyes never leaving Mosen’s face.
Wenster’s face darkened. Did monkeys send her to mess with him? Weren’t they supposed to be friends? She just met Mosen!
If Webster knew about ‘fangirls,’ he might have understood better.
Luckily, Leif didn’t lose all her senses and helped Webster ask, “Mosen, have you really been promoted to captain? That’s amazing, you truly deserve it!”
Webster looked at Mosen with anticipation. It was rare for him to show such an expression, indicating how much Mosen’s promotion to captain had affected him.
Being admired by his younger brother and a pretty girl, Mosen’s vanity was greatly satisfied. He then began recounting his heroic deeds to the two youngsters while sitting beside them on the simple sword training ground.
When Mosen casually mentioned wiping out a pirate crew with a total bounty of over 200 million, the two stared at him with wide eyes, full of admiration.
Suddenly, Leif stood up, her eyes fixed on Mosen, and firmly declared, “Mosen, I challenge you! Please, let me experience what a real swordsman is like. I beg you!”
Mosen finally looked at his brother’s friend, a tall girl already standing at 1.7 meters. Her young face had a couple of barely noticeable pimples, and she was blushing deeply.
Her gaze was admiring and determined, unwavering even when meeting Mosen’s eyes. No wonder his brother was friends with this girl. Even Mosen couldn’t help but appreciate someone with such spirit and resolve.
“Alright, I accept your challenge, brave Leif. But how about you both take me on together? That might help me show more of my skills,” Mosen suggested, seizing the opportunity to teach Wenster a lesson and gauge his progress.
Wenster’s face darkened. He knew Mosen was up to no good and would use this chance to beat him up.
Even so, he couldn’t pass up this opportunity. He wanted to show Mosen his progress, even if it meant getting beaten up.
Mosen casually picked up the paper kite, didn’t draw it, and assumed a relaxed stance. “Begin.”
“Alright, I’m coming!” Webster and Leif shouted in unison, swinging their wooden swords at Mosen from opposite sides.
Half an hour later, the two kids tossed their now-shortened wooden swords aside, wiped their sweat, and plopped down on the ground.
“So this is the strength of a swordsman… It’s unimaginable,” Leif panted, her face flushed with excitement despite her fatigue.
Their regular instructors were far from this level, though they were excellent teachers with solid fundamentals.
Webster, on the other hand, felt utterly defeated. Was this his brother? Why did all the attacks seem to target him while Leif got off lightly?
Feeling the widening gap in their abilities, Wenster gave Leif a look, letting her understand the situation on her own.
Feeling embarrassed, Leif stuck out her tongue at Webster and then turned to Mosen. “Mosen, you are such a gentleman and a wonderful big brother who loves his sibling.”
Wenster: ??? Where did you see him being a gentleman? Or a good brother?
Didn’t you see me getting beaten up here?
Friendship? What friendship?
Mosen, feeling utterly refreshed, looked at Wenster, then at Leif. Such good judgment, such eloquence. She could be like a sister to him.
With a calm smile, Mosen said, “As an older brother, I must always care for my little brother.” Then, turning to Wenster, he asked, “Isn’t that right, my dear brother?”
Wenster’s face twitched. He decided to stay silent and let Mosen perform.
“Alright, let’s get down to business,” Mosen finally remembered his purpose for coming. “Headquarters has given me a house. Wenster, you won’t need to stay at school anymore. Pack your things and come home with me.”
Webster was pleasantly surprised. Having a home at Marine Headquarters was a dream come true. Meanwhile, Leif’s eyes flashed with envy and a hint of sadness.
“Leif, you can come with us. You can visit Wenster often. You know, I’m quite a good cook,” Mosen added with a smile.
Not wanting Webster to drift apart from his friend, Mosen made the invitation.
Leif was overjoyed. “Really? Thank you so much, Mosen!”
“You don’t have to keep calling me ‘Mosen.’ You can call me ‘brother’ like Wenster does.”
“Alright, Mosen… brother.”
Packing up didn’t take long since Webster didn’t have many belongings. He quickly packed everything into a small bag. Most of his things could be left behind as Mosen’s house was fully furnished.
With everything ready, Mosen led the two freshly dressed kids back. However, just as they stepped out of the school gate, they encountered an older man in a brigadier general’s uniform with a fierce expression.
“Are you Mosen, the new captain?”
The older man held a newspaper, the front page featuring a smiling Mosen. Crumpling it into a ball, he sneered, “Other than being good-looking, you’re not much. Sengoku’s judgment is really poor.”
