He turned to face the twenty-seven men and women who had been standing behind him, randomly pointing to a muscular, hairy man. “Tell me your dream.”
The burly man, who looked like a silverback gorilla, hesitated for a moment before responding, “To protect America and defeat the evil Axis powers!”
“Bullshit!”
Wang Yan, after reading the man’s surface thoughts, turned cold. He reprimanded without mercy, “You damn racist, you’re nothing but a sympathizer of the Nazis and a fan of Hitler!”
“But that’s not the worst part. The worst part is that in your mind, you dared to call me a yellow monkey!”
The man’s pupils contracted instantly, and his facial muscles twitched.
He responded with a grim face, “Sir, I did not insult you!”
“You insulted me in your mind!”
Wang Yan glared at him, “Strip this man of his officer status and discharge him from the military.”
Everyone around gasped in shock.
So domineering!
Carter and Bucky exchanged glances, trying hard to maintain their composure.
Even Steve Rogers, who had passed the first round, felt his fingers grow cold and his palms sweat.
Having such a domineering superior officer would make the future very challenging…
At Wang Yan’s command, two armed soldiers immediately arrived.

“And don’t worry, you won’t be speaking for the rest of your life.”
Wang Yan turned away from him, not sparing him another glance. He pointed at a female soldier.
“What is your dream?”
“I…”
The female soldier hesitated but honestly said, “Sir, my dream is to buy a ranch for my parents after retirement so they can live out their days in peace.”
Wang Yan gave her an approving look. “Honest. You pass.”
One by one, the soldiers were called out and questioned individually.
Who passed and who didn’t seemed entirely up to Wang Yan’s whim.
Some who spoke eloquently were rejected outright.
Others, who stayed silent for a long time, were approved.
No one knew Wang Yan’s criteria.
Except for him.
Finally, Wang Yan’s gaze fell on Carter and Bucky.
“What are your dreams?”
