“Ah, so Mantra is called Observation Haki. I thought it was a unique ability of mine. No one in Birka has discovered it,” Enel said, sitting on the ground to regain his strength.
“Maybe it’s because you got beaten up so much…” Michion silently thought to himself, feeling a surge of sympathy for Enel.
To awaken Observation Haki from getting beaten up must mean this kid’s life had been pretty miserable.
“Haki is a power hidden within the human body. Everyone, even some animals, possesses it. However, many people go their entire lives without awakening it. You happened to awaken it while dodging those kids’ attacks, which shows you have good talent,” Michion explained.
“Does that mean I’ve already surpassed most people since I’ve awakened Observation Haki?” Enel asked, clearly pleased with the idea.
“That’s only relatively speaking. In the latter half of the Grand Line, everyone has Haki. Even the rare Conqueror’s Haki is not uncommon there. You need to keep improving your strength,” Michion said, dousing Enel’s pride with a cold splash of reality.
Over the next two days, Michion devised a training plan for Enel. Surprisingly, Enel’s physical foundation was decent.
After asking him about it, Michion learned that Enel had been surviving alone, hunting in the forest for food, similar to a survivalist lifestyle.
Enel’s body had become strong from this lifestyle, ensuring he received enough nutrition to maintain a good physique. Without it, he might have succumbed to the beatings he endured.
Michion’s training method for Enel was a simplified version of “Soru,” similar to what Michion had practiced on the Boin Archipelago. It involved running but focused on balance, breathing, and maintaining a proper center of gravity.
On the first day of training, Michion hunted some game in the forest, preparing a meal for them after Enel finished his exercises.
The following day, they returned to Angel Island. Unlike Birka, the people on Angel Island were not hostile towards them. Enel didn’t encounter the familiar looks of disdain he had grown accustomed to, which caused him to feel a mix of emotions.
Michion continued Enel’s training even while they were on their short “tour.” They also enjoyed various delicacies, which made Enel, used to foraging for his meals, overeat every time.
One compelling motivation Michion found was telling Enel that training would increase his appetite. Michion would never forget the spark in Enel’s eyes at that revelation.
“Did I accidentally turn the once proud ‘God Enel’ into a glutton?” Michion mused.
After a few days of sightseeing on Angel Island, Michion decided it was time to return. Despite regular updates via Den Den Mushi, Michion knew Adolph might start worrying soon.
Enel had officially joined as a companion, fulfilling Michion’s purpose for visiting the sky island.
Now, it was time to return to the North Blue.
With years of training ahead, Michion believed Enel would become much more substantial than his former self. Two years later, when the World Summit convened, Michion would return to the Marines, and Enel would serve as his fallback plan at home base. Enel’s abilities would be kept secret to maintain their strategic advantage.
Until Enel fully matured, he could oversee the Ishtar Kingdom. The North Blue was chaotic, unlike the peaceful East Blue. With dangerous figures like Doflamingo and the Vinsmoke family around, having a strong overseer was crucial.
Once Enel’s “Mantra” covered an entire island, he could detect government spies and ensure their plans remained hidden.
Enel’s potential would be fully developed with guidance from Gaius. Given his potential, Michion was confident Gaius would take Enel’s training seriously.
Enel overseeing the North Blue would allow Michion to focus on ensuring stability at the home front.
Although individual strength could overpower a nation, a well-organized council could leverage numerous resources that individual powers could not match.
A nation’s combined resources, such as technology, food, and materials, could easily surpass that of a lone individual.
When Michion transitioned from merely a Marine to a prince, he realized the importance of incorporating the Ishtar Kingdom into his plans.
If he were alone, he would follow a straightforward “level-up” path. Now, he had to incorporate a “kingdom-building” strategy.
While a “level-up” approach allowed freedom, becoming a pirate to explore the seas, adding the Ishtar Kingdom meant planning for its growth and stability.
Managing an independent faction of the Marines would be challenging, but Michion wasn’t one to back down from a challenge.
Most Marines he encountered were dedicated; low funding would be the most significant issue. Suppose Michion intended to lead a face.
Logistics such as food, weapons, bounties, soldiers’ salaries, and building bases required immense resources.
World Government controlled the Marines’ lifeline, ensuring their dependency.
But what if these dependencies were removed? There would be room for new possibilities.
