As Guy began to move, Qi Yun finally realized the source of his unease.
With a wave of his hand, Qi Yun and Qiqi appeared in Guy’s room.
Down below, Guy was training, and a thread connected to him. This thread wasn’t a product of the Supreme Space. Judging from the direction it extended from the world Qi Yun had sealed off.
“Qiqi, investigate!” Qi Yun said, looking at Guy.
“Investigate? How? The Supreme Space hasn’t reported any alarms, and the control panel shows everything is normal,” Qiqi said, feeling a bit lost.
“Manual check. Go through the records one by one. There must be an issue hidden in the data!” Qi Yun ordered.
“Understood. What about this situation? Should we just leave it alone?” Qiqi asked, nodding.
“Leave it for now. Judging by the contraction of the thread, we have about a week left,” Qi Yun replied. “Also, recall all agents currently on missions and start a full inspection. Hopefully, only one person is affected.”
“Yes, sir!”
Two days later, after pulling two all-nighters, Qiqi finally found the problem.
“Sir! I’ve found it! There’s a discrepancy in one mission’s timeline!” Qiqi pointed at the information on the control panel.
Qi Yun leaned in to take a closer look.
After noting down the long serial number, Qi Yun closed his eyes. He couldn’t fully trust the control panel now. With the serial number in hand, he decided to investigate directly from the source of the Supreme Space—himself.
The problematic mission was an exploration mission, targeting the world Qi Yun had sealed off.
The mission was scheduled to start in five days, but its results had already begun to manifest.
Qi Yun clenched his right fist, and the energy pool’s accumulation instantly halved.
The timeline of the problematic mission started shifting wildly under Qi Yun’s influence, moving back and forth.
But no matter how much Qi Yun exerted influence, the mission’s start date always returned to five days later, at the same eerie world.
This meant that regardless of what happened during this period, Guy would inevitably receive that mission in five days and enter that world.
It was as if the outcome was locked by something, and all current events were reverse-engineered to lead to that outcome.
Moreover, Qi Yun could feel that the influence of that thing was ongoing.
The result embodied by Guy couldn’t be changed unless Qi Yun could reverse the entire universe’s timeline and resolve the causal weapon before the result occurred.
Alternatively, he could make the Supreme Space’s timeline independent of the main universe, allowing Qi Yun to freely modify the locked time without issues.
Unfortunately, Qi Yun couldn’t achieve either method. Influencing the timeline of a derivative world already exhausted him, let alone the main universe’s timeline.
That was beyond his capabilities.
Having confirmed reality, Qi Yun relaxed his right fist, opened his eyes, and sighed.
It was clear now that someone had set a trap for him, and all perfect solutions were blocked by methods beyond his current ability to counter.
Guy had turned from a mere agent, a useful tool, into a ticking time bomb.
What was more frustrating was that Qi Yun didn’t know the bomb’s power. Would it merely cost Guy’s life, or would it collapse the entire Supreme Space? No one knew until the result manifested.
“Master, cut your losses!” Qiqi suggested beside him.
“That’s the only option now. Disconnect the Supreme Space from the Naruto world, then reverse the Naruto world’s timeline back to its collapse. Cancel Tony and Jack’s missions, allowing the time stream’s self-repair to erase our temporal influences and likely neutralize the bomb!” Qiqi advised.
“And the cost?” Qi Yun asked, though he already knew it well.
“Starting over. There’s still a chance. We haven’t waged war with any world, so we can rise again. The weak period won’t be long, and it’s better than starting from scratch,” Qiqi reasoned.
Qi Yun shook his head. “That’s a temporary solution.”
“But should we gamble on the bomb being weak?” Qiqi countered.
“No, I’m not betting on that. If I must gamble, I usually go big. If it’s a trap, I’ll dismantle it myself!” Qi Yun said, staring intently at the connection thread.
“Master! You can’t risk yourself. If you fail, we’ll have no chance!” Qiqi urged.
“Calm down. I have my reasons. They went to great lengths to trap me, meaning they can’t directly deal with me. So, whatever’s in that world won’t be a certain death scenario,” Qi Yun explained.
Objects that could affect the Supreme Space weren’t ordinary. Such items had significant usage restrictions. Moreover, the enemy using Guy as the bomb instead of Qi Yun himself indicated their limitations. These were Qi Yun’s deductions.
“Master!”
Qiqi tried to persuade him further, but Qi Yun interrupted, “Qiqi, if you give a piece of meat to a starving beast, do you think it will just leave quietly?”
Qiqi lowered her head, understanding his point.
“So, even if we survive this by cutting off a piece of meat, what about the next time? And the time after that? Even if we can cut off a piece each time, I’d soon be reduced to bones,” Qi Yun continued.
“I understand!” Seeing Qi Yun’s determination, Qiqi nodded. “I’ll start preparing right away!”
After Qiqi left, Qi Yun stood still, deep in thought. He wasn’t sure if his decision was right or wrong, but a decision had to be made, no matter how difficult.
Months ago, Qi Yun was just an ordinary person. Even after inheriting the Supreme Space post-traversal, no one trained him.
That’s why the Supreme Space remained peaceful—Qi Yun disliked the examples he knew from his pre-traversal life.
But now, disaster loomed, potentially leading to Qi Yun’s downfall.
Qi Yun admitted that for a moment, he considered cutting his losses and relying on his remaining power to survive in the Marvel world.
After all, in a few years, he might be among the half who disappeared. Even if he was, everyone eventually returned.
The idea was tempting, but Qi Yun quickly dismissed it.
It was disgraceful to the concept of a transmigrator and to the Supreme Space.
Most importantly, Qi Yun was unwilling to give up. Having always been ordinary, he finally had a chance to climb the path to the peak. How could he stop and turn back because of a tiger in his path?
