In the dark corner, Rin couldn’t help but regret his earlier actions, muttering to himself.
“That was really dumb of me, using so much force…”
“Now, my injured hand will probably affect tomorrow’s training. How foolish of me!”
As he spoke, he heard a soft sound.
“Swish…”
In the dark corner opposite him, Kuroro’s figure suddenly appeared. He looked up at the sky, acting as if he hadn’t seen Rin, and walked by calmly.
Rin’s forehead was covered in sweat.
“Hey… Kuroro, were you hiding here watching the whole time?”
Kuroro glanced at him lightly, nodded, and then his eyes casually fell on Rin’s swollen little fist.
Rin quickly hid his fist behind his back, gritting his teeth.
“Why didn’t you come out earlier? You could have demonstrated something much more convincing than me!”
Hearing Rin’s complaint, Kuroro couldn’t help but think back to the scene of Rin crying out in pain, a faint smile forming at the corner of his mouth. He replied softly.
“I didn’t expect you to do that, Rin. I’m sorry. If I had known your plan, I would have stepped in earlier.”
Rin sighed helplessly.
“Forget it. What’s done is done. Let’s go back and see how things are at home.”
With that, they disappeared into the darkness.
When they returned home, Eiji and Keiko sat in the living room. Haku was still asleep, now in Keiko’s arms, clearly feeling guilty for having hit her earlier. She was gently stroking Haku.
Seeing Rin and Kuroro return, both were a bit surprised.
Rin didn’t say much, speaking softly.
“Uncle, Aunt, you should rest early tonight. I’ll have Haku sleep with me. Tomorrow, I’ll prove to you that Haku’s power is not a curse.”
The couple exchanged glances and agreed to Rin’s suggestion.
Haku was very small, curled up in a ball. Rin easily carried her back to his room.
Pikachu followed along. The three of them, two humans and a Pokémon, snuggled together and fell into a warm sleep.
The next morning, Rin felt himself being pushed awake.
“Pika Pika!”
Struggling to open his eyes, Rin saw Pikachu happily pushing his face. He gently flicked Pikachu’s forehead, muttering.
“Don’t mess around, Pikachu.”
Suddenly, Rin remembered something and quickly opened his eyes again.
Beside him, Haku was lying there, her big eyes open, her face blushing as she watched him.
Noticing Rin’s attention, Haku, despite her blushing cheeks, greeted him happily.
“Brother, you’re awake.”
Rin quickly sat up, rubbing his head. His hand was still swollen and hurt when moved.
After thinking for a moment, he decided to skip training today.
“Haku, today, your brother will play a fun game with you!”
Hearing Rin’s words, Haku’s face was full of confusion.
During breakfast, Keiko apologized to Haku for what happened the previous day. Remembering yesterday’s events, Haku felt a bit aggrieved and quickly nestled into Keiko’s arms.
This only made Keiko feel even more guilty. Remembering how she hit Haku yesterday, she felt she had failed as a mother.
“Alright, Aunt Keiko, I’ll take care of Haku today. I’ll prove her power to you!”
Keiko wiped her tears and spoke softly to Haku.
“Listen to your brother today, Haku.”
After breakfast, Rin and Kuroro, along with the bundled-up Haku and Pikachu, went to the frozen river near the village.
Rin glanced at Kuroro and spoke softly.
“Kuroro, see if you can notice anything.”
After Kuroro nodded, Rin squatted down and smiled at Haku.
“Haku, can you show me what you did in front of Aunt Keiko yesterday?”
Hearing Rin’s request, Haku’s face fell. She remembered how her mother hit her yesterday and felt scared.
What if this kind brother also hits and hates her after seeing her power?
Seeing Haku’s expression, Rin immediately understood her thoughts. He gently patted her head, smiling warmly.
“Don’t worry, Haku. No matter what you do, your brother will never blame you.”
“So today, just do what you like.”
Rin remembered that Haku discovered her talent while playing with water, so he brought her to this stream.
With Rin’s encouragement, Haku’s face took on a serious expression as she walked to the side.
Both Rin and Kuroro watched her intently, with Pikachu joining in, not knowing what was happening.
Haku squatted down, picking up a snowball from the ground.
Rin thought to himself.
Wasn’t it supposed to be playing with water?
Just as he was thinking that, an astonishing scene unfolded.
The snowball in Haku’s hands suddenly turned into a pool of water. Strangely, the water didn’t seep through her fingers but floated in various shapes above her palm.
Not only Rin but also Kuroro was now watching Haku’s actions with solemn intensity, not missing a single detail.
Haku glanced worriedly at Rin, fearing he might be angry.
Seeing her gaze, Rin smiled and encouraged her.
“Well done, Haku!”
Blushing at the praise, Haku’s small face turned red, and the irregular water ball in her hand began to transform, slowly forming into a perfectly round ice ball.
Rin was shocked to witness this real-life scene. The feeling was entirely different from watching it in an anime.
He glanced at Kuroro and asked softly.
“How is it? Did you notice anything, Kuroro?”
Kuroro gently shook his head, his voice calm but with a hint of excitement.
“No, I didn’t detect anything unusual.”
“Perhaps because my Nen abilities are sealed, I can’t sense anything amiss. But what truly intrigues me is how a three-year-old child can do this.”
Kuroro’s gaze fell on Haku, who was playing with Pikachu, and then on the ice ball in her hand.
“First, turning solid snow into liquid water, then immediately transforming it into ice, changing the nature of the substance so effortlessly…”
“Is this the Bloodline Limit you mentioned, Rin?”
Clearly, Kuroro had become interested in the Bloodline Limits.
Rin sighed and nodded.
“Although it’s a Bloodline Limit, what Haku possesses is just one type, called Ice Release.”
“There are other Bloodline Limits in this world… their powers might be beyond your imagination, Kuroro.”
Thinking of the Uchiha clan’s Bloodline Limit, Rin couldn’t help but sigh.
