In the main hall of the temple, as everyone was staring at each other, Rin had secretly slipped down from the outer wall at some point. He followed the path that Chrollo had taken.
Seeing the corpses on the ground, Rin paused for a moment and then shook his head, muttering to himself, “These are all despicable people. I’ll pretend I didn’t see anything… saw nothing…” After saying this, he continued to sneak towards the main hall.
Because most of the guards were positioned outside the temple, and the bandits inside were gathered in the main hall drinking, Rin didn’t encounter anyone on his way.
Just as he was about to reach the brightly lit main hall, he heard angry shouting coming from within.
“Even if you are a ninja, ignoring me and killing people on my turf is breaking the rules, you know that!?”
Inside the main hall, Kuken’s face was unpleasant as he shouted at the calm-faced Chrollo. Chrollo naturally showed no reaction, his eyes coldly fixed on him as he slowly said, “Are you planning to make a move?”
This single sentence choked Kuken’s next words, making him unsure how to continue. He scratched his head, looking somewhat helpless, and said in a low voice, “Forget it, forget it. You don’t seem like an easy character. Probably unaware of our bandit rules, right? This time, I’ll pretend nothing happened. You can leave.”
Hearing Kuken’s words, the bandits around him looked at each other in confusion. When did their boss become so easy-going!?
At this moment, Rin, who had sneaked in, heard this and was stunned. Chrollo had already sensed Rin’s arrival and glanced at him lightly. Rin felt a bit embarrassed, having promised Chrollo earlier to stay hidden until the fight ended. But since he was already there, there was no need to overthink it.
As he walked towards Chrollo, he curiously observed the bandits, especially Kuken in the center, and whispered to Chrollo, “What’s going on? Was he just trying to make peace?”
Although his voice was low, in the silence of the main hall where all eyes were on Chrollo, Rin’s words reached the bandits’ ears, angering them. Even though the previous guy was strong, this was just a kid. How dare he speak like this!
“Boss, this… this kid is insulting us, shouldn’t we show him some respect?”
Among the bandits, another burly, irritable guy couldn’t hold back and spoke up. Kuken’s face was equally grim, but after glancing at the expressionless Chrollo, he shook his head and said quietly, “It’s alright, let these two go. Everyone here has been drinking, and fighting now would be disadvantageous for us.”
From a distance, Chrollo hadn’t answered Rin’s question yet, but Rin heard this and raised an eyebrow, unable to help himself from looking at the bandits and saying, “Hey, what are you all thinking?”
Hearing Rin speak, the bandits glared at him, and the irritable bandit growled, “Kid, instead of thanking Lord Kuken for sparing you, do you still want to seek death!?”
Rin, frustrated by the bandits’ logic, covered his head. Don’t they realize we’re here to wipe out their lair?
Not wanting to waste more time, he turned to Chrollo and asked softly, “So, have you confirmed if that guy is the ninja?”
Chrollo glanced at Kuken and replied softly, “Although they are behaving this way, I haven’t seen him make a move yet. But I think it’s highly likely he is the ninja among these bandits.”
Hearing this, Rin nodded and, after thinking for a moment, looked at Kuken and loudly asked, “Are you a rogue ninja from the Mist?”
Kuken’s pupils shrank at Rin’s words, finally taking the boy seriously. His face darkened as he said in a low voice, “What are you trying to say, kid?”
Rin stared at him, smiling, and said, “Can you tell us how to train in chakra? If you do, we’ll leave here.”
Kuken was momentarily stunned by Rin’s words and internally sighed with relief. What the… I thought the Mist’s assassination squad was here…
Silently wiping the cold sweat off his forehead, Kuken relaxed his expression and said in a low voice, “So, you just want the basic ninja manual? Killing one of my men for this, don’t you think you’re being a bit unruly…”
But as he said this, Kuken’s expression froze, his eyes narrowing involuntarily. You want the basic ninja manual? That means… that guy over there isn’t a ninja!?
Thinking this, Kuken’s eyes turned cold, his gaze fixed on Chrollo, a cold smile appearing on his lips. Too naive, kid… I thought you were something significant, but you’re not even a ninja…
Pretending so well, even I was scared. I must say, your acting is impressive… Too bad… the kid has exposed you…
With this thought, Kuken slowly walked forward, drawing a gleaming blade from his waist as he did.
“Boss!”
Seeing their boss make a move, the bandits around him grew excited.
Watching him, Rin raised an eyebrow and said softly, “Oh… is he going to attack?”
Kuken let out a cold laugh and said in a low voice, “Almost got fooled by you two. But a couple of idiots who aren’t even ninjas dare to come here and cause trouble!”
Hearing this, Rin stepped back, hiding behind Chrollo, and peeked out to look at Kuken, sighing, “I didn’t expect you to find out. But we really just need to know how to train chakra. Can you tell us?”
Kuken merely sneered, gripping his blade, and jumped forward, mocking, “Foolish kid, the power of a ninja is not something you lowlifes can touch!”
As he finished speaking, Kuken was already in front of them, his blade slashing horizontally towards the two!
