“Ready!” Odin declared as Thor positioned himself on the platform.
Hearing the command, Thor assumed a combat stance, his mind racing with strategies. Seeing Lan Xingyu standing casually, Thor smirked. Despite his father’s earlier comments, he couldn’t see how Lan Xingyu could be that strong. After all, he was just a child. Confidently, Thor planned a direct charge to finish this quickly.
“Begin!” Odin shouted. Thor launched himself forward, ready for a victorious charge, when suddenly, he heard, “Slip.” The ground beneath him turned slippery, and he found himself tumbling uncontrollably, unable to stop.
Lan Xingyu had already mapped out his strategies for winning all three rounds in different ways. Seeing Thor without his hammer, Xingyu instantly chose to use “Slip,” knowing it would give him a significant advantage. As Thor rolled and tumbled uncontrollably, Xingyu watched, entertained. He even started humming a tune that seemed to match Thor’s endless rolling.
The spectators watched in amazement as Thor couldn’t regain his footing. The humorous yet frustrating situation continued until Odin finally declared Xingyu the winner, ending Thor’s ordeal. It took Thor an entire hour to recover from the dizziness (TM: “Do you even know what I’ve been through?!”).
Due to the severity of this move, the Ancient One forbade Xingyu from using it in the subsequent rounds. However, Xingyu suggested, “How about letting Thor use his hammer? Otherwise, it won’t be fair or fun.” Xingyu wanted Thor to lose decisively, even at his peak performance.
Odin agreed, and Thor summoned his beloved hammer with determination. “This time, you’re done for,” he thought, preparing to double down on his earlier frustrations.
As they faced each other again, Odin signaled the start of the second round. Thor charged at Xingyu once more, swinging Mjolnir down on his head. But to everyone’s shock, the hammer passed right through Xingyu’s body without causing any harm. Thor tried again and again but couldn’t land a hit, suspecting an illusion. Just as he began searching for Xingyu’s real body, Xingyu raised his hand, prompting Thor to leap back in alert. However, Xingyu merely yawned, bored.
Thor, enraged by the perceived mockery, declared, “Don’t underestimate me! I am Thor, the God of Thunder!” Lightning crackled around his hammer, and he unleashed a powerful bolt at Xingyu. When the lightning dissipated, Xingyu stood unscathed, leaving everyone astounded. How was this possible? This kid was invincible!
“You done? My turn,” Xingyu said lazily. “Thor, have you ever been kicked by light?” In an instant, Xingyu’s figure blurred, and Thor was sent flying off the platform by a swift kick, Xingyu still in a kicking pose.
The audience was speechless. How could a child be this powerful? Odin, though, remained calm, having seen Xingyu’s speed just below light speed, which he could still follow. Nonetheless, he was impressed by Xingyu’s strength.
After a brief rest, giving Thor time to recover, the third round began. This time, Thor was more cautious, observing Xingyu carefully, hoping to find a weakness. Seeing Thor’s hesitation, Xingyu encouraged him, “Come on! I won’t use my previous abilities. Attack now, or you’ll have no chance.”
“Alright!” Thor charged forward with renewed determination, launching a flurry of attacks. Xingyu effortlessly dodged each strike, eventually closing his eyes, further astounding the onlookers. How could this kid be so skilled in both magic and combat?
Amid Thor’s relentless assault, Xingyu calmly announced, “It’s my turn now.” He unleashed a burst of Conqueror’s Haki, pushing Thor back. Xingyu then approached, his fist covered in Armament Haki. With a powerful punch, he sent Thor flying out of the ring once again.
Feeling the immense power in his body, Xingyu realized just how strong he had become. Thor, a top-tier Avenger, felt like a child in front of him. But wait, wasn’t he himself just a child? Xingyu chuckled at the thought.
Odin, stepping onto the platform, addressed Xingyu and Thor. “Congratulations, Lan Xingyu. You’ve proven your strength. Thor, from now on, you will be his follower. Accept this honor with pride, as it is well-deserved. Thor, do you have any objections? This duel should have shown you the vastness of the universe and that our strength is not something to be arrogant about. I hope you’ve learned from this.”
Thor, acknowledging his defeat, nodded. Lan Xingyu’s power commanded his respect.
Satisfied, Odin announced, “Let’s return to the palace. We have a victory to celebrate and important matters to discuss. Prepare yourselves.” With that, Odin, the Ancient One, and Frigga departed, leaving the younger generation to bond.
With the elders gone, Xingyu approached Thor, grinning. “Hey, my little brother Thor, come on, call me big brother!” Xingyu was thrilled. Not only had he defeated Thor, but he also gained a valuable ally. Seeing Thor’s awkward expression, Xingyu relented, “Alright, I won’t tease you anymore. Let’s formally introduce ourselves. I’m Lan Xingyu from Midgard, apprentice to the Ancient One.”
“Nice to meet you. I’m Thor, Thor Odinson, son of Odin. You’re quite the monster, so strong! A bet is a bet; I’ll call you big brother,” Thor said, shaking Xingyu’s hand. Despite the initial embarrassment, Thor was straightforward about fulfilling his promise.
“Alright, big brother, let me introduce you to my friends. They are some of Asgard’s finest warriors,” Thor said, leading Xingyu to the Warriors Three and Sif.
“Guys, this is Volstagg, a reliable companion. This gentleman is Fandral, an excellent swordsman. And this is Hogun, a trustworthy comrade. Finally, we have Sif, one of Asgard’s rare Valkyries, skilled in both combat and character,” Thor introduced each of them.
“Nice to meet you all. I’m Lan Xingyu. Just call me Xingyu,” he said warmly, shaking their hands.
