“Humph~”
Yoruichi watched those who had mocked Gilgamesh fall to their knees in embarrassment. With a satisfied hum, she jumped back into Gilgamesh’s arms.
Yes, the Reiatsu that had just been released wasn’t from Gilgamesh but from Yoruichi. Even though it was just a brief moment, it was Captain-level Reiatsu. Thanks to Urahara Kisuke’s tool, the released Reiatsu was masked, preventing anyone from identifying her.
The highest Reiatsu among those present belonged to the head examiner, whose Reiatsu was at the seated officer level, unable to withstand Captain-level Reiatsu.
Gilgamesh heard Yoruichi’s voice in his ear, “Sorry, I messed up your plan.”
Yoruichi’s release of Reiatsu wasn’t something Gilgamesh had ordered; she just couldn’t stand people mocking him, so she acted impulsively. In her heart, Gilgamesh had unknowingly taken an important place, and she subconsciously believed that no one should mock him.
Even Yoruichi herself hadn’t realized this yet. But through the clairvoyance of the Omniscient Omnipotent Star, Gilgamesh understood her thoughts.
Yoruichi thought Gilgamesh had his reasons for not wanting to shine during the Reiatsu test. She believed her release of Reiatsu had disrupted his plan, making him the center of attention, hence her apology.
In response, Gilgamesh smiled and gently petted Yoruichi’s head, softly saying, “It’s okay, this is also part of my plan.”
Yoruichi assumed Gilgamesh was just comforting her. His gentleness and understanding made her feel a warm current in her heart.
Gilgamesh knew what was going on in Yoruichi’s mind but didn’t explain further. In fact, even if Yoruichi hadn’t released her Reiatsu, he would have asked her to do so at an appropriate time. Gilgamesh’s original intent in coming to Shin’ō Academy was to find talent. To attract people, one needs not only charisma but also undeniable strength. Therefore, Gilgamesh had no intention of staying low-key during his time at Shin’ō Academy.
Initially, he had planned for Yoruichi to release Vice-Captain-level Reiatsu. Vice-Captain-level Reiatsu would have been enough to impress and fit everyone’s impression of him. However, Captain-level Reiatsu at the entrance exam was a bit excessive. Gilgamesh wasn’t sure if there had been any precedents since the academy’s establishment. He remembered that Hitsugaya Tōshirō was still in Rukongai and hadn’t enrolled yet. Even if he had, Gilgamesh didn’t know if Hitsugaya had Captain-level Reiatsu during his entrance exam. In the original “Bleach” storyline, it was only mentioned that Hitsugaya had high Reiatsu before becoming a Shinigami.
Gilgamesh’s crimson eyes showed a thoughtful expression. He wasn’t sure if the brief flash of Captain-level Reiatsu had caught the attention of the Gotei 13 captains. Glancing at the hidden Shinigami who had been forced to reveal themselves and kneel, Gilgamesh thought, ‘Even if they haven’t noticed, this information will likely reach them soon. An entrance exam candidate with Captain-level Reiatsu will surely attract some captains.’
As he pondered and continued to pet Yoruichi, Gilgamesh walked out of the Reiatsu testing area. Just then, a trembling voice called out, “Excuse me, could you retake the test? There might have been an issue with the Reiatsu tester.”
Gilgamesh paused and looked back at the examiner. The examiner was thinking, ‘That was definitely Captain-level Reiatsu. This boy must have an extraordinary background and a promising future. We must maintain good relations and avoid conflict.’
Understanding the examiner’s thoughts, Gilgamesh could sense his reverence. The examiner’s request for a retest was a gesture of goodwill, hoping to give Gilgamesh a better score. This was unprecedented in the academy’s history. However, neither the other examiners nor the candidates had any objections. The other examiners knew the level of the released Reiatsu, while the candidates were still recovering from the overwhelming pressure, feeling weak and fearful. They knew Gilgamesh’s true Reiatsu must be terrifyingly high. This made them speculate even more about his background.
Amidst everyone’s gaze, Gilgamesh smiled humbly and said, “There’s no need. The tester is working fine. We shouldn’t delay the exam because of me.”
Although unsure why, the examiner understood this was the result Gilgamesh wanted and didn’t press further. Some candidates couldn’t help but whisper.
“He’s so humble. I love it.”
“That phrase, ‘We shouldn’t delay the exam because of me,’ was so cool!”
“The coolness isn’t in the words but the person saying them.”
“He’s so warm.”
“Ladies, I’m starting a ‘Gilgamesh Support Club.’ Who’s in?”
This is the privilege of the strong. If Yoruichi hadn’t released her Reiatsu, this scene wouldn’t have occurred. This was part of Gilgamesh’s plan to gradually win hearts during the entrance exam.
The Reiatsu test continued, and next was Rukia’s turn. Taking a deep breath, she stepped onto the tester. The results appeared, and the examiner announced loudly, “Rukia, Reiatsu seven rank, pass!”
The crowd buzzed with excitement. A seven-rank Reiatsu, just one rank short of a seated officer, was incredibly impressive. They finally understood why someone as dazzling as Gilgamesh chose Rukia as a companion.
Next was Renji’s turn. With Rukia’s performance, all eyes were on Renji, curious if he would be as impressive. If he was, it would prove Gilgamesh’s exceptional eye for talent.
The examiner’s face showed anticipation. As the results appeared, the examiner’s expression turned excited, announcing, “Renji Abarai, Reiatsu six rank, pass!”
A boom of excitement erupted from the crowd.
