The Kido aptitude test had five testing points running simultaneously. Gilgamesh was assigned to the third group, while Rukia and Renji Abarai were placed in the fourth group.
Due to her impressive result in the Reiatsu test, many candidates gathered around to watch Rukia’s Kido aptitude test, curious to see if her Kido talent was equally outstanding.
In the invigilation room, besides Soi Fon of the Second Division, Kenpachi Zaraki of the Eleventh Division, and Mayuri Kurotsuchi of the Twelfth Division, almost all other Division Captains were present, led by Head Captain Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto.
Shiba Isshin and Shiba Kaien had also joined after leaving the examination site.
They were closely monitoring the Kido aptitude test through the surveillance screens in the invigilation room.
Noticing the situation in the fourth group, they directed their attention to the corresponding monitor.
The Sixth Division Captain Byakuya Kuchiki froze for a moment upon seeing Rukia’s face, a look of disbelief crossing his features.
Not only Byakuya, but other Captains familiar with him also seemed stunned upon seeing Rukia.
The Eighth Division Captain Shunsui Kyoraku exclaimed, “Isn’t that Lady Hisana of the Kuchiki family?”
Everyone’s eyes instinctively turned to Byakuya Kuchiki.
Byakuya, recalling something, had a flash of doubt and surprise in his cold eyes.
He was about to act when Yamamoto’s authoritative voice rang out, “I said no one is to interfere with the exam, regardless of who they are. Any matters can be addressed after the entrance exam.”
Byakuya knew these words were directed at him, so he suppressed his inner turmoil.
The other Captains, sensing the tension, didn’t comment further but someone retrieved Rukia’s information.
Quickly, her details were passed around among the Captains.
Now they knew Rukia had a Reiatsu aptitude of seventh class. Seventh class Reiatsu was considered talented by ordinary standards but wasn’t extraordinary among true prodigies.
What intrigued them most was that Rukia, along with a sixth-class Reiatsu candidate named Renji Abarai, were following a candidate named Gilgamesh.
They realized Gilgamesh was likely the candidate with suspected Captain-level Reiatsu.
Byakuya’s brow furrowed as he studied Rukia’s file.
‘Follower? More like a servant? If this Rukia is indeed Hisana’s long-lost sister, this status is too lowly.’
‘Bringing someone of such lowly status into the Kuchiki family…’
Recalling how difficult it had been for Hisana to enter the Kuchiki family, Byakuya felt a headache brewing.
But thinking about his beloved wife’s increasingly frail health due to her search for her sister, Byakuya gritted his teeth. Hisana’s health was paramount.
Resolving himself, Byakuya focused his gaze on Rukia in the surveillance footage.
The Kido aptitude test had ten levels of difficulty, with level one being the easiest and level ten the hardest.
Since the founding of Shin’o Academy, only a few candidates had ever passed the tenth level, most notably former and current Grand Kido Chiefs of the Kido Corps.
Rukia first chose a level three shape and successfully formed it with her spiritual energy.
Next, she attempted a level seven shape, managing to succeed with great effort.
Knowing her limits, Rukia didn’t push further and concluded her test.
Although she only completed up to level seven, her talent exceeded 99% of the candidates.
After Rukia, it was Renji Abarai’s turn, drawing a crowd of onlookers.
Knowing Rukia had stopped at level seven, Renji initially chose level seven but failed, finding it beyond his ability.
To be cautious, Renji then tried a level five shape but failed again after much effort.
Finally, Renji succeeded with a level three shape, clearly showing he wasn’t as talented in Kido as Rukia.
Seeing Renji’s dejected look, Rukia comforted him, “It’s okay, Renji. You’ve done well.”
Despite Rukia’s comfort, Renji couldn’t lift his spirits.
Suddenly, the examination hall buzzed with excitement.
“Incredible! He succeeded on the first try with a level eight shape!”
“Wow, his Kido aptitude is amazing!”
“Comparing myself to him is just frustrating. I barely managed a level three shape, and he aced level eight on his first try. Is he even human?”
“Wait, is he still going? Is he aiming for level nine?”
Renji and Rukia looked over to see Gilgamesh starting his Kido aptitude test.
The examiner for group three, still in shock, asked, “Are you going to attempt the level nine shape?”
Gilgamesh shook his head, “No, I will attempt the level ten shape.”
His words caused an uproar.
In the surveillance room, the Captains were equally astonished.
None of them had passed the level ten shape during their Kido aptitude tests.
Even Yamamoto’s prized disciples, Shunsui Kyoraku and Jushiro Ukitake, had only managed to pass level nine.
Among the Captains, the only one who might pass level ten was Sosuke Aizen, who had opted for a more balanced approach back then.
Now, Aizen’s eyes behind his glasses were fixed on Gilgamesh on the screen, pondering.
‘Gilgamesh… I feel like I’ve heard that name before.’
‘But I’ve never seen him. Where did this prodigy come from, and why was there no information on him before?’
‘Hmm, I was just thinking about using Shinigami souls to create Hollows. I wonder how effective he would be for my experiments?’
