“Cheers!”
“Hooray for the captain!”
“Thank you, sir.”
The deck was filled with exuberant cheers and shouts of gratitude. Mosen ignored the commotion and returned to his room to report the situation to Sengoku in detail. As expected, these actions would be counted towards his military achievements.
After receiving praise and encouragement, Mosen felt pleased. “Indeed, I’m as smart as ever!”
Listening to the energetic cheers from the deck, Mosen lay on his fresh bedding, deeply impressed by his cleverness. By combining kindness and authority, he had ensured these pirates would be loyal and diligent.
“I’m such a clever little rascal,” he mused. “With talent, strength, depth, and above all, incredible looks, how will others ever cope?”
“I wonder which lucky girl will benefit from my presence in the future?”
“Wait, I’ve been here nearly six years and haven’t met a single pretty girl. This is a significant problem. Could it be that I’m destined to lack a romantic connection?”
Mosen pondered this troubling thought.
Outside, the treasure distribution had concluded. The shipwright and crew hoisted the sails and set off. The shipwright’s modifications allowed it to sail remarkably fast, using sails with the wind and a steam-like propulsion system against it. Essentially, it sailed without the need for oars, moving swiftly.
Regarding speed, it matched the large battleships of the Marine Headquarters, allowing Mosen to minimise travel time.
From the moment they set off, Mosen clarified that they would only stop to purchase essential supplies. All other time was to be spent sailing. Even the dozens of crew members worked in shifts, ensuring continuous operation.
Along the way, they eliminated three groups of pirates who crossed their path. Any pirate who didn’t provoke Mosen was left alone. After defeating the pirates, Mosen kept the Beli and valuable items, distributing the rest to the crew.
The pirates were overjoyed by their gains, working tirelessly and without complaint.
Thus, a journey that should have taken over a month was completed in just over ten days. They finally arrived at the mission area in the North Blue.
North Blue, Minion Island
Mosen now wore a white coat. Though his physique rendered clothing unnecessary for warmth, he couldn’t resist buying the coat when he spotted it during a meal on a nearby island. It was simply too stylish to pass up.
Snowflakes fell steadily from the sky. Most of Bondy’s crew, hailing from the South Blue, had never seen snow. They disembarked to enjoy the winter scenery.
The Minion Island incident had occurred just over ten days prior, and the island was now covered in snow, erasing most signs of the event. The landing forces had long collected the remains of Rosinante. Mosen’s main goal now was to find Law.
Due to the passage of time, Mosen only remembered fragments of the story. Rosinante and Law’s deep impression on him helped him recall even this much.
“Sengoku, I’ve arrived on Minion Island. I’m preparing to search the entire island to find the boy with Amber Lead Syndrome mentioned by Rosinante.”
“Thank you for your efforts, Mosen. Please investigate thoroughly,” Sengoku’s deep voice responded through the Den Den Mushi.
“Don’t worry, Sengoku. I’ll complete the mission. If I find any information, I’ll report immediately,” Mosen replied solemnly.
After ending the call, Mosen and the pirates searched Minion Island for an hour, confirming no signs of habitation, let alone a child.
“Law, being a child, wouldn’t have traveled far. His body and their ship wouldn’t allow for long-distance travel,” Mosen pondered, studying a map. “Could he be on one of these nearby islands, Rubik or Hayan?”
Marking the two islands, Mosen instructed the pirates, “Gather everyone. We’re heading to Hayan Island first.”
“Yes, sir!”
Two lackeys quickly complied, rallying the crew.
Hayan Island, Outskirts
In a dense forest on Hayan Island, a small white bear in tattered clothing was being bullied by two children.
“Penguin, look at this dumb white bear. It doesn’t even fight back,” the short-haired boy, Shachi, sneered.
“Sorry, I’m too dumb,” the bear bowed apologetically, speaking in a low, gloomy voice.
“Wow, this white bear can talk! Amazing,” Penguin marvelled, tugging on the bear’s fur. “It’s a real bear, incredible.”
“Penguin, let’s capture this white bear and sell it. It must be worth a lot,” Shachi suggested.
“Great idea, Shachi. You’re so smart.”
The two troublemakers prepared to capture the submissive bear when a voice startled them.
“Hey, you two, that’s enough.”
Turning around, they saw a skinny boy with a white spotted hat staring at them expressionlessly.
“Hey, shorty, you want a piece of this too?” Penguin taunted, encouraged by the boy’s small stature.
Nobody in town dared to defy them. This kid must be a wanderer, and even if they beat him up, there’d be no repercussions.
Shachi joined Penguin, grinning wickedly at the skinny boy. “Wanna be a hero, kid?”
Impatiently, Penguin stepped forward, aiming to push the boy aside so they could continue their scheme.
However, he was no match for a boy trained by the top officers of the Donquixote Family, especially one who had eaten a Devil Fruit. Even though Law had recently performed surgery on himself and was still weak, these kids couldn’t compete.
Penguin barely had time to react before his outstretched arm was grabbed, pulled back, kneed, and elbowed to the ground, leaving him unable to get up.
Rosinante’s influence softened the law. Had this happened shortly after Penguin joined the Donquixote Family, Penguin might not have survived.
Ignoring the trembling Shachi, Law turned to the bear. “Hey, white bear, you okay?”
The bear quickly ran to Law’s side, whispering, “Thank you. I’m fine. My name is Bepo.”
Law nodded coolly. “Trafalgar D. Water Law.”
