Three days later, in the same forest with the same group of people.
Mosen stood on a newly cleared piece of land, observing the refreshed trio and bear before him. The resilience of people in this world was astonishing; after just three days of rest, the children’s physical conditions had noticeably improved.
Mosen was ready to head back. The three-day rest had significantly benefited his body, though not regarding physical fitness or Devil Fruit abilities. It was an indescribable feeling as if his body parts responded more fluidly to his intentions. This sensation was fleeting, but Mosen noted it mentally.
“Hey, Little Radish Head, if you don’t attack, I will,” Mosen said with a smile, watching Law’s serious expression. “If I attack, you won’t get a chance.”
Though he said this, Mosen had no intention of attacking first.
“Stop boasting, Mosen. I’ve eaten a Devil Fruit worth fifty billion. Take me seriously!” Law shouted.
Then, he lowered his head and softly said, “ROOM.” Like an overturned bowl, a blue light screen expanded from Law’s left hand, barely encompassing Mosen and himself.
Mosen’s expression changed. He stepped forcefully and instantly appeared in front of Law.
Boom…
A punch filled with affection knocked Law to the ground, the blue light screen disappearing.
Mosen’s expression turned serious as he looked at the struggling Law, saying nothing.
Neither Law nor his companions had seen Mosen this serious before; the air felt oppressively heavy.
Law’s face was anxious, but his tsundere nature allowed him to maintain a cool expression.
Finally, Mosen spoke.
“Law, this is my advice before I leave. No matter how powerful a Devil Fruit is, it requires a strong body to be effective.”
“You have good medical skills, so you should understand this.”
Mosen continued, regardless of whether Law was listening. He sympathised with Law but believed everyone should take responsibility for their lives.
“I don’t know what kind of training you received in the Donquixote Family, but all combat skills need a strong body.”
“Your Ope Ope no Mi consumes your stamina.”
“When your stamina is insufficient, it consumes your life.”
“Don’t act recklessly and ignore your body. Everyone must be responsible for their actions, now and in the future.”
“Hey, you guys, this applies to you too. Do you understand?”
Mosen turned to the two kids and the bear, startling them. They nodded quickly.
Only Law turned his head away, deep in thought.
Mosen ignored their reactions and continued talking to himself.
“There is no feast that lasts forever. I have to return to the Marine Headquarters. Before I leave, I’ll show you my strength. Remember, the world is vast, and many powerful individuals are out there. Even I am far from the top.”
Mosen closed his eyes, gathering his strength. The surrounding air grew heavy, leaves and bushes rustling.
Suddenly, Mosen opened his eyes, a brilliant slash of light flashing through the air. A massive sword energy appeared out of nowhere, slicing towards the ground ahead.
The ground trembled violently, and a huge crack appeared, extending over ten meters.
This was a powerful shock for everyone. They knew Mosen was strong but needed a concrete concept of his power.
Now, this visual impact was immensely shocking.
Even Law, who had been with the Donquixote Family for years, had never seen such a display of pure swordsmanship.
The two kids and the bear gulped, this attack surpassing their imagination.
Mosen nodded in satisfaction. Though his swordsmanship was still far behind Shanks, it had improved significantly. He imagined Shanks would be surprised the next time they met.
Thinking of Shanks’ reaction, Mosen’s mood improved, and his expression softened.
The kids breathed a sigh of relief.
“I’ve said what I needed to say. How you act is up to you. I’m leaving now, no need to see me off. If fate allows, we’ll meet again.”
Mosen gave Law a deep look, then turned and walked away, leaving a graceful back.
He thought that the next time I saw Law, he shouldn’t look as weak as he did in the anime.
After Mosen left, the kids stood around, bewildered, not knowing what to do.
Law was the first to recover, biting his lip as if making a decision.
“Bepo, Shachi, Pequin!” Law turned to his companions.
“Huh?”
“Yeah, Law, what is it?”
The two kids and the bear were still a bit slow to respond.
“I’ve decided. I’m going to form a pirate crew.”
Law’s expression was serious.
“Do you want to be my crewmates?”
Bepo was the first to agree. “I’ll join! I want to be an excellent navigator and find my brother.”
Pequin was not to be outdone, saying he was the first to want to learn to fight with Law.
“I’ll be the combat leader. I want to be the strongest, no, the second strongest.”
Shachi, seeing the positions filling up, quickly said, “I’ll be the shipwright.” Then, as if remembering something, asked, “Where’s our ship?”
Their faces fell.
It seemed they had a long way to go.
Law steadied himself, addressing his companions, “We’re not strong enough to set sail yet. We need to train and become stronger.”
“That’s right, we need to be as strong as Brother Mosen,” Pequin declared, his idol now changed.
Law’s face darkened. What an ill-timed comment.
Law’s knowledge far exceeded the others. Reaching Mosen’s level would take forever.
He ignored Pequin, now a Mosen fanboy.
“I’ve learned some marine training methods from that narcissist. We’ll start using them today.”
The companions eagerly agreed, expecting immediate strength gains.
Shachi raised his hand, “But we have no money for food!”
Law’s cool demeanour nearly cracked. This team was hard to lead.
“So, besides training, we need to earn money.” He said.
“We’re just kids. How do we earn money?”
Again, Shachi.
Are you a walking FAQ?
Law wondered if inviting him was a mistake. Could he return him now?
But earning money was urgent. They had lived well with Mosen, eating better in three days than in years.
Now, without Mosen, they faced hunger.
“It’s decided. Our first mission is to earn money in town!”
