God of Destruction of Time and Space? (Part 1)
…
“Ah, it’s nothing, nothing,” Gowasu awkwardly chuckled, “Sorry for the display.”
“Perhaps it was too sudden,” Merus replied with a smile, turning to observe the crystal ball.
In the crystal ball, the human who was struck collapsed to the ground. However, his attacker showed no sign of stopping, lifting the wooden stake and striking him again.
Once!
Twice!
Three times!
…
The victim’s head was a gruesome mess, a sight too horrific to behold. Yet, the attacker, driven by the scent of blood, continued, smashing his companion until there was nothing left but a pulp.
The humans on this planet appeared to have evolved from bird-like creatures, possessing sharp beaks and fangs, with a protruding jaw, giving them a fierce and wild appearance.
“They’re incredibly savage,” Zamasu muttered, his expression darkening.
“This planet’s humans were only recently born… they are indeed quite brutal,” Gowasu nodded, his face reflecting a hint of concern.
There was a moment of silence.
“Merus, Ren, Zamasu, what do you think should be done?” Gowasu asked, turning to the group.
Before Ren and Merus could respond, Zamasu was quick to answer, “I believe they should be swiftly eradicated.”
Merus blinked, surprised, casting a curious glance at Zamasu.
Why would he think that?
Ren, on the other hand, wasn’t surprised—he had expected this.
“Eradicate them? What do you mean by that?” Gowasu asked, his brows furrowing.
“Just like the God of Destruction would do—destroy them and their planet immediately,” Zamasu responded matter-of-factly.
“What are you saying?!” Gowasu snapped, his voice stern. “Zamasu, that’s the role of a God of Destruction!”
“Then what should we do, Supreme Kai?” Zamasu retorted. “Do you honestly believe these barbaric creatures will change their ways simply because we offer them words of wisdom?”
Gowasu: “…”
Gowasu didn’t want to engage Zamasu further and turned to Ren and Merus, forcing a bitter smile. “I apologize for this.”
“It’s nothing,” Merus replied politely.
“Merus, Ren, what are your thoughts?” Gowasu asked with a warm smile.
“I’ve never dealt with something like this before, so I’ll refrain from giving an opinion,” Merus said, shaking his head slightly. He wasn’t sure how to handle such a situation.
After all, most of Merus’ time had been spent as part of the Galactic Patrol. These humans, though brutal, hadn’t been around long enough to be classified as criminals by Galactic Patrol standards.
“They need silent protection,” Ren said slowly, offering five simple words.
Gowasu blinked, taken aback, and looked at Ren in surprise.
“Ten years might not be enough; then protect them for 100 years. If 100 years isn’t enough, then 1,000 years,” Ren added, elaborating on his point.
A look of delight crossed Gowasu’s face.
This human Angel is extraordinary.
I never expected him to have such a profound perspective!
He’s truly worthy of becoming an Angel.
Even Merus, a trainee Angel, hadn’t expressed this level of insight.
Gowasu looked at Ren with admiration.
“Hmph, protect them? How absurd. I highly doubt they can develop any sense of order,” Zamasu scoffed, dismissing the idea with a sneer.
Ren didn’t bother responding to him.
“I’ve visited countless planets, and there are many cases like this. These types of humans don’t deserve to exist,” Zamasu continued to assert his beliefs.
“Zamasu, you’re wrong,” Ren said calmly, smiling as he spoke. “Remember, you are a Supreme Kai, not a God of Destruction. Since you lost the tournament, it’s time to move on from that defeat and focus on your duties as a Supreme Kai.”
As he spoke, Ren gently floated over and patted Zamasu on the shoulder.
Zamasu felt a sudden sting in his chest.
It sounds like he’s trying to encourage me, but why do I feel so insulted?
“I don’t need your guidance!” Zamasu growled, glaring angrily at Ren.
You’re not even a god yet, and you dare lecture me?
Ren’s grip on Zamasu’s shoulder tightened.
Snap!
Zamasu couldn’t bear the pressure anymore, and his knee buckled, forcing him to kneel on the ground.
Ren calmly stepped in front of Zamasu.
“There’s no need for such a grand gesture,” Ren chuckled, “It’s okay to admit when you’re wrong. After all, they say gold lies beneath a man’s knee, so I assume gold beneath a Supreme Kai’s knee must be even more precious?”
Zamasu: “…”
You…!
I’m not kneeling because I want to!
You forced me down with your strength!
Humans truly are despicable creatures!
“Zamasu, it’s good to see you’re admitting your mistakes,” Gowasu said naively, not realizing what was happening, and assuming Zamasu had come around.
Merus, meanwhile, remained silent.
Protect them.
I have no idea what Ren is thinking.
Why didn’t I think of that?
How did I, a trainee Angel, end up losing to him again?
Merus felt a small pang of disappointment.
“Alright, let’s make an exception today and go take a look,” Gowasu said with determination. “We’ll see if Ren’s idea of protection holds up.”
“Take a look?” Zamasu blinked in confusion.
Merus was also slightly surprised.
Snap!
Gowasu raised his hand, and a small, ornate box appeared.
“Merus, Ren, take a look,” Gowasu said as he opened the box.
“Is that… a Time Ring?” Merus asked, raising his eyebrow.
“Exactly, it’s a Time Ring capable of traveling through time,” Gowasu nodded solemnly.
Ren also glanced at the box.
Inside lay a single, silver-colored ring.
Only one ring.
This meant that, at this point in time, parallel universes had not yet been created in this version of the Dragon Ball world.
Ren thought for a moment and realized it made sense.
After all, this was a time before parallel timelines emerged.
Trunks hadn’t been born yet, and Zamasu hadn’t gone to the future to switch bodies with Goku.
“Time travel?” Zamasu asked, now more curious, standing up from the ground and moving closer to examine it.
“That’s right. With this ring, we can see the future of the Babari people!” Gowasu explained. “We’ll see with our own eyes whether they’re truly unworthy of protection. First, let’s visit the present-day Babari Planet.”
With that, Gowasu extended his hand, offering to teleport them to the planet.
Ren, Merus, and Zamasu each took Gowasu’s hand.
“Kai Kai!”
With a soft incantation, a pale blue aura enveloped Gowasu, and in the blink of an eye, they were transported above Planet Babari, gazing down at the scene below.
On a high cliff on Babari, a burly human dragged a large fish along a narrow mountain path.
As he walked, two humans carrying wooden stakes appeared in his path, blocking the way.
“Hehehe!”
“Gugugu!”
The two humans cackled menacingly, their eyes filled with malice as they stared greedily at the fish.
An intense battle for survival broke out over a simple fish.
“A truly savage species!” Zamasu exclaimed with disgust.
“The Babari people may be like this now, but 1,000 years from now, they could be very different,” Gowasu said with a sigh.
…
God of Destruction of Time and Space? (Part 2)
…
Ren and Merus remained silent, observing the scene. After all, they were here to learn. It was best to listen and watch before forming any conclusions.
“Now, I’ll use the Time Ring to take you to the future,” Gowasu suggested with a smile. He then looked at Merus and Ren. “As Angels, you should be able to control time and travel to the future or past, correct?”
“Yes, but we don’t do so lightly,” Merus nodded. “And as a trainee Angel, manipulating time is still difficult for me.”
“Hahaha, no rush, take your time. I’m sure you’ll become a great Angel one day,” Gowasu laughed. Then, he added with a smile, “And I’m even more certain Ren will eventually transform into a true Angel.”
“Supreme Kai, can this ring really allow us to travel freely through time? Can we go to any point in the past or future?” Zamasu asked, his gaze fixed on the Time Ring in Gowasu’s hand.
“Yes, but it only allows travel to the future. From there, we return to the present,” Gowasu explained.
“Can’t we travel back to the past?” Zamasu asked, startled.
“That’s not allowed,” Merus replied, cutting in. “Changing history always brings about various complex problems, so it’s strictly forbidden by the divine realm to travel back in time.”
“I see, understood,” Zamasu responded, maintaining his respectful tone towards Merus.
“Additionally, it’s worth noting that if someone alters the timeline, additional Time Rings will appear. Each Time Ring corresponds to a parallel timeline,” Gowasu explained, pointing to the empty slots in the ring box.
“Parallel timelines?” Zamasu asked, momentarily confused.
“Gowasu, no need to explain it in such detail. If someone with ill intentions hears about this, they might do something reckless,” Ren sighed from the side.
“Haha, it’s just us here. No one with ill intentions is around,” Gowasu laughed, dismissing the concern.
Ren: “…”
I’ve made it clear, and yet you still don’t see the problem?
Fine, suit yourself.
“In the past, in Universe 12, a highly advanced civilization of humans created a time machine capable of traveling back in time. It altered history, but eventually, the resulting timelines were mostly erased,” Gowasu explained. “That’s why manipulating time was later strictly prohibited, and why we only have one ring now.”
“The timelines were erased? How were they erased?” Zamasu asked in surprise.
“They say it was done by the God of Destruction of Time,” Gowasu answered.
“God of Destruction of Time?” Zamasu was stunned.
“I’ve heard of the God of Destruction of Time too,” Merus added, nodding. “It’s said that the God of Destruction of Time is responsible for clearing up problematic timelines.”
Ren looked intrigued and asked, “Merus, have you ever seen this God of Destruction of Time?”
“No,” Merus shook his head.
“Aside from the God of Destruction of Time, are there also Supreme Kais and Angels responsible for time?” Ren asked again.
“Yes, there likely are,” Merus replied. “I’m not entirely clear on matters related to time, but if you’re really interested, you could ask Vados sometime. She might know more.”
“Alright, that’s enough for now. Let’s travel to the Babari Planet 1,000 years in the future,” Gowasu suggested, putting on the Time Ring.
Ren and the others stepped forward, holding onto Gowasu.
Gowasu chanted, “1,000 years later!”
Immediately, the space around Gowasu began to warp and distort, as time itself flowed around them.
Ren felt as though he had entered a fast-moving timeline.
What did it feel like?
It was almost like the time travel sequences in Doraemon.
Points of light streaked past, creating dazzling trails that flashed before his eyes.
The whole process lasted just a few seconds.
Snap!
In the next moment, when Ren regained his senses, he found himself floating above the Babari Planet once again.
At this very moment, Broly from Universe 9 was attempting to contact Ren.
However, since Ren was now 1,000 years in the future, the communicator couldn’t pick up the signal.
This was, after all, a completely different time period.
Ren’s communicator wasn’t capable of transmitting across time yet.
Unaware that Broly was trying to reach him, Ren glanced down at the Babari Planet and noticed that there were now numerous strange stone structures dotting the cliffside.
The entire planet’s vegetation had grown much denser as well.
“So, this is the Babari Planet 1,000 years in the future?” Zamasu asked, his curiosity piqued as he looked around.
“Merus, Ren, look! They’ve developed some sort of culture after all!” Gowasu pointed excitedly to the strange houses below.
“Yes,” Merus smiled and nodded.
“Let’s go take a closer look,” Gowasu said, descending from the sky.
Ren and Merus followed suit.
Zamasu, though visibly irritated, landed on the ground and scanned the surroundings.
Suddenly, Zamasu heard a strange noise and immediately walked in the direction it came from.
Meanwhile, Gowasu stepped forward and found something slightly unusual.
“What is this?” Gowasu picked up a strange object and examined it closely.
“It looks like a musical instrument,” Ren suggested.
“Yes, yes, it does resemble a musical instrument! I never thought they’d develop something like this in just 1,000 years,” Gowasu marveled. “With musical instruments comes music, and with music, their civilization will advance to deeper levels.”
“Supreme Kai, please come over here!” Zamasu called out.
Gowasu walked over to where Zamasu was standing.
Ren and Merus followed at a leisurely pace.
They all looked down at the platform on the cliffside below.
A brutal brawl was unfolding there.
The scene was gruesome, with blood staining the ground and the stench of iron filling the air.
“What’s happening here?” Gowasu’s expression shifted.
Ren, already accustomed to such sights, remained calm.
He glanced over at Merus and saw that he, too, was composed.
As an Angel, Merus had likely witnessed such scenes many times and had long learned to view them with detachment.
“This is reality… so much for your ‘protection,’” Zamasu sneered. “Their nature hasn’t changed; it’s gotten worse! Such vile creatures—this universe doesn’t need humans at all!”
Merus glanced at Zamasu, puzzled.
Why is the Northern Supreme Kai’s thinking so extreme?
Does this universe only need gods and animals?
I really don’t understand his mindset.
No wonder the Grand Priest said Zamasu wasn’t fit to be a Supreme Kai.
Ren said the same thing.
When it comes to insight into character, I’ve lost to Ren once again!
“Look over there,” Ren pointed to another area.
In the direction Ren indicated, a cloaked figure, seemingly an elder of the Babari people, appeared.
The nearby combatants, upon seeing the cloaked figure, immediately knelt and bowed in reverence.
Gowasu’s eyes gleamed with satisfaction.
This is the sign of a civilization!
“Zamasu, take a good look,” Gowasu urged, pointing in the direction Ren had shown.
At that moment, a Babari native suddenly appeared behind Ren and the others.
The figure was tall and muscular, holding a large wooden club, which he swung toward Merus.
Merus: “…”
Why me?
Do I look like the easiest target?
Just as Merus was about to dodge, Zamasu intervened.
With a flick of his hand, Zamasu sent a wave of divine energy that struck the Babari warrior.
Boom!
The Babari was sent flying, crashing into a nearby rock.
“Zamasu, what are you doing? Don’t attack!” Gowasu scolded, his brow furrowed.
Merus glanced at Zamasu but chose not to comment.
The Babari warrior struggled to his feet, cracking his neck, eyes blazing with hatred. He glared at Zamasu and spat out a string of harsh words.
Ren easily recognized the tone—the Babari was cursing Zamasu.
Zamasu’s face twisted in rage.
How dare a human curse me?!
