Dragon Ball Xenoverse Chapter 36

Prelude to the Festival

“Bang, bang, bang,” echoed through the basement of a villa, where a man dressed in martial arts attire rapidly struck a rotating wooden dummy. Although called a wooden dummy, it was actually made from one of the hardest materials in the universe—meteoric iron.

Pica’s footwork was like an illusion, and his punches were thunderous, giving off an aura of fierce power. If you looked closely, you’d see the dummy’s arms moving swiftly like lightning, as if two people were sparring, each move requiring utmost caution to avoid being defeated in a single strike.

His fists cut through the air with whistling wind, clashing against the dummy’s arms. “Ha!” Pica shouted, delivering a powerful punch to the dummy’s body while blocking its attacks with both hands and feet.

“Phew…” Pica exhaled, wiping the sweat from his face with a towel. “Training under thirty times gravity is indeed challenging. Tata’s custom-made wooden dummy is really useful.”

Back at the sales office, Pica had purchased the house Tata recommended. As for Oba-san, she was merely there for comedic relief. After buying the house, Pica had Tata custom-make a training dummy. A wooden one wouldn’t withstand his attacks, so Tata made it out of a durable metal used in the universe.

A week had passed since Pica bought the house. During this week, besides training, he spent time shopping and playing around with Lucia and Selena. His days were quite enjoyable. The cost of living in Chrono City wasn’t too high, so the money he had left was enough for a year of food, drinks, and fun.

If you’re wondering how 2 million PT could last a year, I forgot to mention that after buying the house, Pica also bought over twenty spherical laser robots, similar to those Vegeta used for training but of better quality. Just these robots cost over a million PT, cutting Pica’s funds in half. Additionally, he custom-ordered a wooden dummy, leaving him with only seven or eight hundred thousand PT.

Pica stretched, his body cracking with the sound of popping joints, and headed to the second basement training room. It was much more spacious than the first floor, containing only a gravity machine, with all other training equipment moved to the first floor.

Pica stood by the gravity machine, pressing a few buttons. The room’s color shifted from bright and transparent to a dim red hue, filling the space. The room was now set to fifty times gravity, the maximum Pica could handle while still moving freely. Any higher, and his body wouldn’t be able to move as flexibly.

“Krak!” Several holes opened in the walls, releasing spherical robots with red blinking lights.

“RT-9527 model robots initiating auxiliary training,” said the synthesized voice of the robots.

“Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh,” over twenty robots simultaneously fired laser beams, encircling Pica tightly. He had no choice but to fly into the air, but the room’s size limited his speed.

This training aimed to enhance neural reflexes in confined spaces. If the lasers touched him, the training would be considered a failure. In battle, every small detail could change the tide, and a slight delay in reacting to an opponent’s attack could determine life or death.

During this training, Pica not only had to dodge laser attacks but also counterattack. Each robot had a button on it, which served as its off switch. Turning off all the robots meant victory.

While airborne, Pica spotted a robot’s button. The buttons were placed randomly, making it harder to locate and deactivate them during training.

“There it is,” Pica extended a finger towards the robot. Just as he was about to hit the button, several lasers targeted him. With no choice, he twisted his body and spun to dodge the lasers, landing on the ground. The robots showed no mercy, launching another barrage of lasers. Pica swiftly dodged, flipping and spinning to avoid each shot.

“Damn, these robots’ attacks are too fierce. How do I counterattack?” As he pondered, another robot’s button appeared in his line of sight.

Pica smirked and lunged at the robot, extending a finger towards the button.

“Zzz,” the robot powered down. “Finally got one,” Pica thought, but to his dismay, the other robots closed in, trapping him with a barrage of lasers.

“Bang!” Pica crossed his arms, curling his body to block the lasers. The gravity room powered down, and the robots’ voices said, “Thank you for using. Good night.”

Pica sat on the floor, exhausted. “Damn, these robots’ AI is incredible. I was warned about this when I bought them, yet I still made such a rookie mistake.”

Pica had underestimated the robots’ AI, which was designed for coordinated attacks. One would expose a weak spot to lure the attacker, while the others launched a concentrated counterattack.

“No way, I refuse to believe a genius like me can’t beat these robots,” Pica stood up, ready to restart the training.

“Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh,” the robots fired another barrage of lasers as Pica struggled to dodge…

Meanwhile, in the Time Patrol Academy, a class was engaged in combat training. A young girl effortlessly knocked down her opponent with a fiery energy wave. As she turned, her beautiful rose-red hair swirled, creating a picturesque scene. The boy she defeated lay on the ground, mesmerized.

“Selena wins,” announced a Namekian in battle attire.

“Wow, Selena, you’re so strong. When will I be as good as you?”

“Yeah, Selena, teach us. We always get groped by those guys during training. It’s so annoying.”

“And Selena, your figure is amazing! You must be at least a C-cup!”

“Selena, are you going to the Time Festival the day after tomorrow?”

Selena was surrounded by a group of teenage girls, chattering away. The boys watched, their eyes fixed on Selena and another girl with a voluptuous figure.

Selena’s eyes lit up. “Time Festival… I haven’t really gone before. Maybe I’ll ask Pica to go with me.” A blush crept across her face.
