A figure swiftly dodged laser attacks in the gravity room, leaving a trail of afterimages behind. Each laser hit an afterimage, and the figure rapidly pressed the buttons on the robots, causing them to stop functioning one by one.
“Tap, tap, tap,” Pica quickly pressed the buttons on several robots, causing them to shut down instantly. He landed on the ground, scanning the surroundings. “Something’s not right. There’s still one more, but where?”
As Pica scanned the area, a red light flickered among a pile of robots. “Whoosh!” A red laser cut through the air, aiming at Pica.
“There it is!” Pica ducked, staying close to the ground, and dashed towards the robot. “Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh,” the robot fired three consecutive lasers to block Pica’s path. Pica flipped in mid-air, narrowly avoiding the lasers.
Pica squinted his eyes. “You’re asking for it!” With those words, he appeared in front of the robot, reaching for the button. The robot transformed into an afterimage, dodging Pica’s attack and reappearing behind him, firing a laser.
“Hmph, I knew you’d do that.” Pica swiftly dodged the laser, his fingers quickly pressing the button on the robot. “It’s not easy winning even once… What?”
As Pica spoke, the laser in the air suddenly changed direction, hitting Pica in the back and burning a hole in his clothes. Pica looked back in surprise, his mouth opening and closing without knowing what to say. Despite correcting many of his past mistakes, Pica’s downfall this time was due to his habit of talking too much.
“It’s a draw! Thank you for using. Good night!” the synthesized voice from the robot announced. Pica could almost hear the smugness in the machine’s tone.
“Phew, when will I ever get rid of this talking-too-much habit?” Pica sighed at the robot in front of him. “No way, I must win once.”
From the first attempt to the last, Pica spent two whole days and nights in the gravity room. Though physically exhausted, his spirits were high, and he was ready for another round.
“Sniff… What’s that smell? It stinks!” Pica’s nose twitched as he detected a foul odor. “Damn, it’s my sweat. Ew, it’s so sticky. Time for a bath.”
Pica undressed while walking. “Jarvis, clean the gravity room.”
“Yes, Master,” a deep male voice responded. Jarvis was just like the intelligent butler from Iron Man, whom Pica had admired for years. When Pica bought the house, Tata mentioned it came with an intelligent butler to manage the entire household without the need for additional servants.
As Pica entered the bathroom, the tub filled with hot water, steam rising from it. Pica sank into the water. “Oh… that’s nice!”
Pica lay in the tub, finding a comfortable position and closing his eyes to rest. The water used in Chrono City was a high-tech synthetic, each type having different effects. The water Pica used had properties that alleviated fatigue, far surpassing the effects of a hot spring, soothing sore muscles.
Pica could feel his tired muscles gradually recovering, though not as effectively as a Senzu Bean. Compared to the godly effects of a Senzu Bean, this liquid was more like an elixir.
“Master, Miss Selena is here to see you,” Jarvis announced, interrupting Pica’s relaxation.
Pica slowly opened his eyes. “Selena? Doesn’t she have classes? Jarvis, please take care of her.”
“Yes, Master.”
“Click.” The locked door opened, and Selena entered, looking around in confusion. “Where is everyone? Who opened the door?”
“Hello, Miss Selena. I’m Pica’s intelligent butler, Jarvis. Please follow me.” A digitized green figure appeared on the floor.
Selena examined Jarvis, “So you’re the intelligent butler Tata mentioned. I thought you’d be a robot.”
“Miss Selena, please follow me.” Jarvis extended a hand courteously, leading Selena to the living room and seating her on the sofa. “Miss Selena, please wait. I’ll bring you some refreshments.”
“Wait.” Selena quickly stopped Jarvis. “Jarvis, where’s Pica? Where is he?”
Jarvis bowed slightly, “Master is bathing. He just finished training and is very tired, so he needs to rest.”
“Oh, I see. You can go now; no need for refreshments,” Selena waved Jarvis away.
Jarvis placed his hand over his chest, “As you wish, Miss Selena. Master told me to treat you as family.”
Selena sat on the sofa, observing the minimalist decor of Pica’s villa. The absence of gaudy decorations made the space feel clean and tidy.
Lost in thought, Selena’s expression changed, reflecting her deep contemplation. Pica, freshly bathed and dressed casually, entered the living room and saw Selena’s changing expressions. He found it amusing.
“Hey, what are you thinking about?” Pica plopped down beside her, startling Selena.
“You’re done bathing?” Selena asked, wide-eyed.
“Yeah, or I wouldn’t be sitting next to you. What were you thinking about so deeply?”
“Nothing,” Selena replied, blushing.
Pica stretched his legs on the table, hands behind his head. “So, what brings you here today? I thought you had classes.”
Selena looked down, fidgeting with her fingers. “Well, I heard…”
“Ding dong,” the doorbell rang. Pica stood up, “Hold on a sec.”
“Okay.”
Pica walked to the door, opening it to find Lucia in a light purple dress standing there.
“Lucia, you’re here too.” Pica smiled, surprised to see both Lucia and Selena at his house on the same day.
Hearing that Lucia had arrived, Selena quickly stood up and walked to the door.
“There’s a festival tomorrow. Let’s go together,” Lucia said, smiling at Pica.
Pica stroked his chin, “Sure, I have nothing planned tomorrow. I’ll go with you.”
“Wait, I came here today to invite you to the festival. And you, Lucia, ever heard of first come, first served?” Selena protested.
