Purple Haze’s punch ultimately hit nothing.
The pale purple poisonous mist around its fist slowly spread uncontrollably in the air. Under the sunlight, it quickly lost its potency, faded in color, and eventually vanished completely.
Meanwhile, Lee Sin had already relocated to Giorno’s side, unharmed.
The battle returned to the initial standoff across the street, but this time, Lee Sin and Giorno had gathered valuable information.
“So, what do you think?”
“Anything to say about that blond kid?”
As soon as Lee Sin stabilized, he began discussing the battle situation with Giorno.
Although his acute hearing allowed him to sense the poisonous mist through the slight changes in the medium, a superhumanly sharp listener still couldn’t fully compensate for the lack of vision. Thankfully, he had a reliable teammate:
“Yes.”
Giorno replied without hesitation:
“You mentioned your perception of outlines is very vague, so you probably didn’t notice the finer details.”
“The poison gas released by that Stand has a color. It’s centered on the Stand, with the color fading outward until it completely disappears.”
“This means…”
He paused to organize his thoughts:
“The poison gas from that Stand likely loses its potency within seconds of being released from the storage capsule.”
“As a result, the gas always lingers around the Stand, extending no more than about two meters—it disperses too quickly in the air to spread further.”
“Understood.”
Lee Sin got Giorno’s point:
“As long as we don’t get within two meters of that Stand, we should be safe.”
“In that case, let me tell you something I found…”
He quickly shared his own observation:
“I sensed through my hearing that the kid hiding and controlling the plane is in a small alley dozens of meters away.”
“From that position, it’s impossible to see us directly.”
“But just now, his plane Stand accurately pinpointed our location and launched a precise attack.”
“This means…”
“That plane Stand has some special detection method and doesn’t need visual observation to lock onto targets.”
“Sound tracking, thermal tracking, gas tracking, or even more mysterious mind tracking… all are possible. We need further observation to determine the exact method.”
Giorno and Lee Sin quickly exchanged information, making Fugo’s expression turn grim:
“Damn… one round…”
“In just one round of exchange, they’ve figured out most of our Stands’ abilities!”
“This seat as Naples’ top lieutenant isn’t going to be easy to win.”
Fugo sighed deeply, his eyes filled with solemnity.
After understanding the enemy’s Stand abilities, Lee Sin and Giorno exchanged a knowing glance:
“Let’s start!”
No more words were needed; a simple assessment of their combat capabilities was enough to determine their next move.
Giorno summoned Gold Experience, fully alert to Fugo’s actions.
Meanwhile, Lee Sin, using his acute hearing, locked onto Narancia hiding in the alley, ready to take him down in the first instant of battle.
“Sonic Wave!”
Lee Sin turned, a dazzling white light bursting from his fists.
The brilliant light streaked through the air in a clean, swift line, flying towards Narancia hidden in the corner with lightning speed.
At this moment, Lee Sin had a 99% chance of victory:
“Little pilot…”
“Behind these walls, you can’t see what I’m doing.”
“By the time you see the Sonic Wave coming through the walls, it’ll be too late to dodge.”
“Hiding in the shadows ended up harming you!”
As Lee Sin predicted.
Because of the multiple walls, Narancia, hiding and controlling his Stand in the alley, couldn’t see the white light heading straight for him.
And with the Sonic Wave’s speed, even from dozens of meters away, a normal human wouldn’t have time to react unless they sensed it immediately.
So at this point, the outcome was already certain.
“Hit!”
The Sonic Wave successfully hit the target, and Lee Sin’s system interface immediately provided feedback: “Resonating Strike!”
Without hesitation, he used the second part of Resonating Strike, rapidly flying towards the position locked by Sonic Wave.
Resonating Strike is Lee Sin’s most powerful attack. If it hits the enemy Stand user directly, the battle could be over instantly.
Victory seemed almost assured for Lee Sin.
However…
As he entered the high-speed dash of Resonating Strike, hurtling towards Narancia, Lee Sin suddenly sensed something was off:
“Something’s wrong!”
“Why… why didn’t the blond kid shout a warning!”
Driven by a desperate desire for victory, Lee Sin belatedly realized something wasn’t right:
“The ‘little plane’ can’t see my Sonic Wave, but the blond kid can.”
“Even if shouting a warning wouldn’t give him time to dodge my Sonic Wave, any normal person would still shout to alert their teammate, right?”
“Was it because I punched too fast for the blond kid to react?”
“Or…”
Lee Sin had a very bad feeling.
But with Iron Body still on a twelve-second cooldown and himself in the high-speed charge of Resonating Strike, there was no time to take any countermeasures.
He could only maintain utmost vigilance as he flew toward the Sonic Wave’s locked target.
Thus…
Lee Sin’s “ethereal” body quickly phased through cars, trees, and buildings, emerging through the wall into the alley where Narancia was hiding.
Just three meters away, his fist was about to hit the target.
And at this moment, Lee Sin could clearly see his target, the so-called ‘little plane’ operator, Narancia:
His muscles slightly bulged under his tight vest, his youthful face filled with determination, and most crucially, there wasn’t a trace of fear in his bright eyes despite Lee Sin’s impending strike through the wall.
“You’re finally here.”
A calm and steady voice echoed.
But it wasn’t Narancia’s voice; his mouth hadn’t moved.
However, there was no one else in the alley besides Narancia.
“This!”
“The voice isn’t coming from his mouth; it’s coming from his body… could it be?!”
Lee Sin’s face stiffened as he realized something worse:
“Damn!”
“The Sonic Wave didn’t hit the ‘little plane’ but…”
“Sticky Fingers!”
From within Narancia’s abdomen, a powerful voice roared.
It was then that Lee Sin noticed:
The Sonic Wave’s marker wasn’t on Narancia; it was on a blue fist, a blue fist extending out of Narancia’s stomach in a bizarre manner.
In the next moment…
Ziiip—
Accompanied by the sound of a zipper sliding, Narancia’s body, like a chip bag suddenly torn open, split from his neck down to his abdomen.
This was a zipper, a zipper installed on Narancia’s body.
And from this opened zipper, Bruno Bucciarati and his Stand, Sticky Fingers, emerged alive like fully developed alien larvae from Narancia, the “host.”
“A man who survives angering the boss is never simple. I expected Fugo’s little trick wouldn’t fool you.”
“But this trick made you lower your guard.”
“Like an audience who thinks the movie is over after seeing one post-credits scene and leaves early, having seen through one trick, you instinctively didn’t consider the existence of a second ‘scene!'”
“So…”
Sticky Fingers swung its powerful fist, fearlessly meeting Lee Sin’s oncoming strike:
“You still fell into our trap, Lee Sin!”
