“My name is Eric Trevelyan. I am an agent with the British MI6, having inherited the code name from a former agent. I am now 006!”
“July 10, 2000. It’s been ten days since I returned to West Virginia. My adopted daughter, Sharon, and I are getting familiar with each other. She affectionately calls me ‘Dad,’ and I see her as my own daughter.”
“July 11, 2000. Sharon’s sleepwalking symptoms seem to have eased. I plan to take her to the hospital for a check-up.”
“July 12, 2000. The child is very sensitive and somewhat resistant to the idea of going to the hospital. I lied to her, saying that Daddy wasn’t feeling well and needed her company. Sharon sweetly agreed. She’s such a good child, and I am so clever!”
“July 13, 2000. Suspecting that Sharon might have some brain disorder, my wife, Ruth, and I took her for a brain CT scan. To ease her resistance, I went through the scan first, then coaxed her into it.”
“July 14, 2000. How is this possible?! This hospital is useless! They said Sharon has no disease, but I do. They said there was an abnormal shadow in my brain and suggested I stay in the hospital for observation. Ridiculous! I am in perfect health! I am not sick!”
“Ruth and Sharon both urged me to stay in the hospital for a couple of days, but I refused. I am very healthy. As a top agent, I can self-diagnose. This hospital is incompetent!”
“July 18, 2000. After visiting three different hospitals, none could find the cause of Sharon’s sleepwalking. Someone suggested we go to a big city for treatment.”
“July 25, 2000. This is worrying. The costs of various tests and medications are adding up. I have money, but it’s not clean money. I can’t explain its source. I can’t say it’s from dealing with Afghan militant groups, right? The more I think about it, the more my head hurts, like a drill is boring into my brain. Am I the one who’s sick? No! I am not sick!”
“August 10, 2000. A newspaper article inspired me. The Flight 180 crash, the pension claim case, and the Florida alligator attack case—all plaintiffs received substantial compensation. This money is clean, and even if I am gone one day, Ruth and Sharon could live comfortably on it. I’ve decided to find a target and sue!”
“August 12, 2000. After careful analysis, I concluded that whether it’s Isabella Swan in the pension case or Haley Keller in the alligator attack case, they were all vulnerable women. I should research this area: ‘I am weak, so I am right?’ I don’t understand today’s societal trends. Getting old, indeed. But this Isabella Swan looks familiar.”
Agent 006 underlined Isabella Swan’s name to indicate its importance and continued writing.
“Upon further analysis, this woman is truly unlucky—robbed at the bank and involved in a plane crash. Ha! Seeing others’ misfortune makes me happy! I am such a dark person! But her photo looks increasingly familiar like I’ve seen her somewhere before. The more I think, the more my head hurts.”
“August 19, 2000. I brought a lawyer to a mine in Minnesota. Invited by female miners, I helped them sue the mine for sexual harassment by male miners. Even though I’m not a professional lawyer, I can see this case is a sure win. The money is practically free!”
“But that blonde female miner is really beautiful, though too cold. The male miners’ stares are strange, thinking I have an affair with the blonde. Or do they want to challenge me? Stupid Americans, thinking only with their lower halves!”
Agent 006 wrote this part beautifully, with flamboyant handwriting, reflecting his inner pride.
“August 20, 2000. I was beaten! This town is savage! Over a hundred men blocked the alley and beat me up! I managed to knock down five men before…”
“August 27, 2000. I moved from the intensive care unit to a regular ward. My broken leg is in a cast. I contacted my subordinates and brought in a legendary healer from the East. This healer, with white hair and a white beard, looked like a sage. He claimed his ancestral medicine came from Genghis Khan’s era in Mongolia. We Cossacks respect Genghis Khan!”
“The healer told me to drink more hot water and take more medicine. Vaguely, some memories in my mind seemed to unlock, but I didn’t think much of it. No hesitation, I took the medicine!”
“August 27, 2000, night. Something is wrong with this medicine! My heart hurts after taking it! It hurts too much! I was supposed to treat my leg! This doctor is suspicious! Must find him!”
“August 29, 2000. (A section of Cossack curse words) That was no healer, but a fraud! It must be a plot by the British Queen! How vicious!”
“September 18, 2000. The female miners won the lawsuit, and I received the pre-agreed commission—$190,000. This money is enough for Sharon and me to get treatment. Now, not only does my head hurt, but my leg and heart too. If Sharon’s sleepwalking isn’t too severe, I think I should see a doctor first.”
“October 28, 2000. I used some secret military-developed gene medication, and my broken leg is healing quickly. I sat in a wheelchair and took Sharon to see a new psychologist who moved from Los Angeles, Dr. Harmon.”
“Dr. Harmon seems at odds with his wife, Mrs. Harmon. They maintain only a superficial harmony. To me, their rift looks like a vast abyss.”
“November 3, 2000. While undergoing treatment at Dr. Harmon’s house with my daughter, I noticed something wrong with this couple. I asked if they had children, but they hesitated, not knowing if they had any kids. Very strange. Could Dr. Harmon have some ulterior motive for my Sharon? I must stay vigilant!”
“November 5, 2000. Dr. Harmon’s psychological counseling seems effective. Sharon’s intermittent sleepwalking of more than five months disappeared. Sharon said she felt like something in her body was suppressed by an external force. Kids really don’t understand anything; there’s no scientific basis for that.”
“November 15, 2000. That seemingly gentle Dr. Harmon ambushed me! He struck my head with a shovel because he suspected I had an affair with his wife!”
“What nonsense! My leg is still in a cast. In this state, how could I seduce a woman?”
“Despite having a broken leg, I subdued Dr. Harmon and saw his wife. God! A month ago, she was normal, but now her belly is as swollen as if she’s ten months pregnant! Mrs. Harmon’s face had an unnatural smile, but all I felt was horror!”
“I fled Dr. Harmon’s house with Sharon. I heard his wife gave birth that night, and the couple disappeared the next day.”
Agent 006’s hand trembled while writing this part, making the handwriting appear messy.
“December 1, 2000. Some memories began to resurface in my mind. Since I stopped taking Sharon to Dr. Harmon’s, her condition rapidly deteriorated. She painted horrifying pictures alone in her room and murmured some names.”
“December 3, 2000. My wife, Ruth, took Sharon and left home. They went to a place with a strange name, Silent Hill?”
“December 5, 2000. I reached Silent Hill, but it felt like there was a barrier. I vaguely heard Ruth calling, but I couldn’t find them! I am a failure!”
“December 5, night. Isabella Swan? My memory fully recovered. This woman has some miraculous means, beyond scientific explanation! Even at the risk of exposing my identity, I boarded a plane to San Francisco. I must find her! She is my only hope to save my wife and daughter!”
