Since gaining Naruto’s template, Hawking has frequently communicated with the Nine-Tails. His primary goal was to persuade the Nine-Tails to lend him its power by offering it a chance to roam free occasionally.
What did the Nine-Tails desire most? Freedom, of course.
In Naruto’s world, the Nine-Tails couldn’t be released from its seal, even with Yamato, who could use Wood Release, constantly suppressing its power to prevent it from influencing Naruto.
But Hawking was different. He promised to periodically release the seal, allowing the Nine-Tails an hour of free activity. Hawking had even tested this: slightly tearing the seal and letting some of the Nine-Tails’ power leak out. The next time he loaded the template, the seal was fully restored.
The Nine-Tails participated in this experiment, and thus, during its time inside Naruto, it continually tried to breach the seal with its chakra, hoping for freedom. But with Hawking, it realized that breaking the seal wouldn’t work.
Then Hawking proposed the idea of letting it out.
“Four months is too long, kid. I’m giving you all my power to fight. Three weeks, no less!”
“Nine-Tails, you’ve been locked up for how many years? You only got out when Naruto was born, and that was because the Uchiha controlled you. Then you were sealed up again shortly after. I can let you out for a whole hour. As long as you don’t kill or cause destruction, you can do whatever you want. That’s the taste of freedom. Two months, and that’s my bottom line!”
Hawking replied firmly.
The Nine-Tails paced in its cell, torn. It longed for freedom, being passed from one Jinchuriki to another, always trapped. Naruto didn’t seem likely to break the seal anytime soon, and the Nine-Tails desperately wanted to run free.
Finally, it decided, placing its paws on the bars of its cell.
“One month. Once a month, and I’ll agree right now!”
“Deal!”
Hawking grinned. He might have agreed if the Nine-Tails had insisted on three weeks. After all, it was only an hour each time.
“Ugh…”
The Nine-Tails hesitated, regretting its hasty decision. Perhaps it could have been negotiated better. But as a proud creature, it wouldn’t go back on its word.
It agreed to cooperate with Hawking not just for the chance to roam free but also because it sensed no hatred, fear, or disgust from him. Hawking felt different, unlike most humans it had encountered, who were filled with malice.
“Let’s begin!”
Hawking approached the sealed gate, grabbing the seal with all his mental strength, slowly tearing it off.
The Eight Trigrams Seal, created by the Fourth Hokage based on the Four Symbols Seal, was a top-tier technique that securely locked the powerful Nine-Tails within Naruto. It was nearly impossible to break from the inside, but from the outside, it was much easier.
Hawking couldn’t perform sealing techniques, but he could use his immense mental power, aided by the Nine-Tails from within, to rip open the seal forcefully.
“Just a bit more!”
As most of the seal on the gate was removed, the sealing formula on Hawking’s belly began to dissolve like ink. Just as he was about to completely undo the seal, a hand suddenly appeared, grabbing him.
“Naruto, you can’t do this!”
Hawking turned to see a man with the same blond hair as Naruto, wearing a cloak labeled “Fourth Hokage,” standing beside him.
“I forgot that besides the Nine-Tails and the Eight Trigrams Seal, Minato and Kushina’s chakra is also sealed within Naruto.”
When Minato sealed half of the Nine-Tails in Naruto, he also sealed parts of his and Kushina’s chakra within him. Minato would reinforce the seal if the Nine-Tails ever threatened to break free. If the Nine-Tails ever tried to take over Naruto’s mind, Kushina’s chakra would awaken to help Naruto subdue it with her Adamantine Sealing Chains.
“Uh… sorry, I’m not your son Naruto. Naruto’s seal is perfectly intact. I need the Nine-Tails’ help right now. We’ll talk later!”
Hawking pushed Minato aside and tore open the seal. Minato, confused by Hawking’s words, wondered how the Nine-Tails could be inside him and what he meant by Naruto’s seal being perfectly intact.
“Nine-Tails, lend me your power!”
The gate opened fully with the seal torn. Hawking raised his fist to the Nine-Tails, who responded by touching it with its claw.
“Hawking, remember your promise. Once a month!”
“What is going on here?”
Minato watched in bewilderment.
Outside, as Magneto’s metal barrage shot toward him, Hawking roared. The Nine-Tails’ immense chakra surged into his body, sweeping away his fatigue from the earlier battle with Apocalypse. His body quickly transformed, covered in the Nine-Tails’ chakra, morphing into a massive form over seventy meters tall.
“Hold it back!”
Nine enormous fox tails extended from his back, forming a shield that blocked Magneto’s metal stream.
“Take this! Tailed Beast Bomb!”
Hawking opened his mouth and quickly formed a black sphere over ten meters in diameter. The Tailed Beast Bomb, the pinnacle of chakra transformation, could obliterate a mountain with a single shot. As the strongest Tailed Beast, the Nine-Tails’ Tailed Beast Bomb was far more powerful than the others.
“Boom!”
The powerful Tailed Beast Bomb collided with the metal stream, shattering it into pieces.
