……
“It must be him. Do you know where he is now?”
Upon hearing about the nerd Peter, Hawkins immediately guessed it must be Spider-Man Peter, remembering that Peter Parker always seemed to excel in his studies.
He casually plucked a leaf from a nearby tree, transformed it with a spell into a rose, and handed it to the blonde girl before him.
“A small gift for our meeting!”
The blonde girl accepted the rose with a face full of surprise:
“I didn’t know you could do magic. I don’t know where Peter Parker is, but my best friend does because she has a crush on that nerd.”
Saying so, the blonde girl called out to a slim, dark-haired girl standing at the entrance of the school building:
“Jessica… Jessica, come here for a second!”
“Lily, what’s up?”
Jessica jogged over, a puzzled look on her face.
Lily pointed at Hawkins and said:
“This guy is looking for the nerd Peter Parker. Do you know where he is now?”
“Lily, don’t call Peter a nerd. He’s astute. He fought with Thompson in the corridor and even knocked Thompson to the ground!”
Jessica sounded quite displeased.
However, Lily burst into laughter upon hearing this:
“Jessica, you must be joking. Nerd Peter Parker knocking down Mary Jane’s boyfriend Thompson, who is a head taller than him?”
“I’m not joking. Many people saw it, and then Peter ran out of the school, and now I don’t know where he went.”
Jessica replied, sounding annoyed.
Meanwhile, Hawkins, upon hearing this, began to frantically recall all the different Spider-Man storylines he had seen in his past life.
“It’s not little Peter, nor is it the Ultimate Spider-Man, as Mary Jane isn’t in Ultimate Spider-Man. This storyline is similar to the Tobey Maguire version of Spider-Man.
If that’s the case, Peter must have been bitten by the spider not long ago.”
Thinking this, Hawkins didn’t stay any longer and once again mounted his motorcycle:
“I have to go now, and I’ll treat you to a meal when I’m free!”
Waving at Lily and Jessica, Hawkins rode his motorcycle away from the school.
“Ah, I forgot to ask for his phone number. Next time, I’ll ask Peter. I didn’t expect that nerd to know such an interesting, handsome guy.”
Lily watched Hawkins’s retreating figure with a bit of regret.
“Shallow!”
Jessica muttered to herself.
On the streets, Hawkins, while riding his motorcycle and observing the rooftops around him, also muttered to himself:
“I didn’t expect Peter Parker to be secretly admired in high school, but the name Jessica sounds somewhat familiar?”
“Found him!”
With his excellent vision, he soon spotted a young man constantly leaping and rushing across rooftops.
“Yah-hoo… Haha… This is awesome!”
Peter excitedly jumped from one rooftop to another, spaced about four to five meters apart, until he arrived at the docks by the East River and finally stopped.
Yesterday, following a school trip to the Columbia University Science Museum’s Super Spider exhibit, he was bitten by a mutated spider. After a good night’s sleep, his body underwent tremendous changes.
First, his myopia was gone, and his vision was excellent; his previously frail body had also become intense, even sporting six-pack abs.
Second, his strength had increased significantly; he could easily lift his Uncle Ben’s car, which weighed over a ton. His senses had also become incredibly sharp; many things seemed to slow down if he wanted to, and he could sense danger from far away.
Lastly, after running out of the school having just knocked down Thompson, who usually bullied him, he discovered that his hands could extend barbs like a spider, allowing him to cling to walls for climbing.
And now, he was about to test the ability to shoot spider webs, which only appeared occasionally.
“Go, web!”
“Fly, spider-web!”
“Shoot now, web-shooter!”
“Transform!”
“Quick, spit it out!”
After a series of lines and various odd poses in a trial, he finally mastered properly shooting out webbing.
He stretched his hand towards the direction of the dock in front, and a white web immediately shot out from his wrist, sticking to the crane’s boom.
Standing on a six-story building by the street, holding onto the web, a bold idea suddenly came to his mind.
He wanted to see if he could swing across to the rooftop of the building opposite the street.
“Ah ooh ah…”
Imitating Tarzan, he swung quickly across the street using his webbing and successfully reached the rooftop.
However, initially not being skilled, he was a bit late to brake with his feet, and with a “bang,” he crashed into a massive billboard erected on the opposite rooftop.
“Oh, damn!”
Touching his sore nose, Peter prepared to get up.
If an ordinary person were hit like he just was, they probably would have been severely injured and on their way to the hospital, but now he only felt a bit of pain in his nose.
“Are you okay, Peter Parker?”
Just then, a firm hand suddenly reached out to him.
“I’m fine, thank you!”
Looking at the teenager who appeared suddenly and seemed about the same age as himself, Peter instinctively thanked him first.
But he quickly reacted:
“How do you know my name is Peter Parker? I don’t think I know you?”
“Nice to meet you for the first time. I’m Hawking.”
Hawking helped Peter but waited to reply; he introduced himself first.
Just now, he had been watching the entire process of Peter Parker experimenting with the webbing from below. He did not expect Spider-Man, who seemed to be sixteen or seventeen, to have some youthful naivety still.
Well, who hasn’t been naive at a young age? He also had experiences of playing with a stick for half a day.
“Hello, Hawking. Are you also from our school?”
Seeing Hawking about the same age as himself, Peter started to speculate.
“Restored to original!”
Raising his hand towards Peter, his worn-out school uniform, torn from the fall, was instantly repaired and seemed as new as when he first got it.
“No, I’m not your classmate. I know your body mutated after being bitten by a spider, so I came to talk to you.”
Hawking said with a smile.
Peter, looking at his uniform that had become brand new, was instantly wide-eyed:
“This is… this is amazing. Are you a mutant?”
He had seen on TV reports that those mutants were born with various excellent abilities, but he knew he wasn’t a mutant because he had mutated into what he is now after being bitten by a spider.
“Um… sort of.”
Hawking thought for a moment and nodded, then pointed to a burger shop across the street and said:
“Let’s go there and sit down to talk slowly. How will I treat you?”
“Sure, no problem.”
Peter nodded, his intuition telling him that this teenager, at his age, seemed to have no ill intentions.
