Marvel Randomly Load Chapter 6

Three Mutants?

“I’m Professor Charles from Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters in New York, and I’d like to speak with your parents.”

Professor X maintained his gentle smile.

Oleg, the father, called from the living room:

“Hawking, who is it?”

“It’s two strange men, they said they’re professors from a New York school,”

Hawking shouted back.

Oleg and Iryna immediately paused the show and walked over to the door.

Professor X immediately activated his telepathic ability and scanned Oleg and Iryna’s memories.

It was his standard practice to scan the parents’ memories when he go around recruiting students.

If the parents were afraid and hostile towards mutants, and they didn’t know yet that their child were mutants, then he wouldn’t tell them.

He would instead pretend that he was representing a normal school in New York, instead of a mutant-specific school.

For example, a few years ago in Boston, he recruited a student with ability to lower temperatures to freezing level. After telepathically sensing the attitudes of two parents, he did not tell them the truth.

Meanwhile, if the parents already knew that their child was a mutant, or if they bore no hostile intent to mutants, then he would reveal the truth.

“There are three…No, I can’t be completely sure…,”

Professor X was further surprised after reading Oleg and Iryna’s memories.

He had thought there were only one mutant child here. He didn’t expect there would be three, two of which have special circumstances.

The one he detected through Cerebro was the little Pietro, the only one he could conclusively confirmed to be a mutant.

Pietro’s twin, Wanda, didn’t have the unique brainwaves of mutants. But she exhibited mental control ability as well, so it wasn’t certain whether she was really a mutant.

Then there’s Hawking, the son they adopted a little more than two months ago.

His status as a mutant was also inconclusive.

Professor X would rather group all of them as mutants, even if Cerebro couldn’t detect them, because they fit the characteristics of a mutant.

The most obvious was the tail on Hawking’s butt. Animal characteristics were common among mutants.

Secondly, Hawking was physically much stronger than ordinary child. He was even able to intercept missiles and launch powerful energy attacks.

This was also typical of mutants. Some mutants with great potential could unleash explosive powers before mastering their abilities.

The last and most important evidence was that Hawking could passively protect against Professor X’s telepathy, which explain why he couldn’t sense Hawking through the Cerebro.

Little Wanda was a more interesting case. The professor could read her memories just fine, so if she was a mutant, her unique brain waves should have been detected by Cerebro, yet it didn’t.

But Wanda didn’t have memories of modification, experiments, or other special experiences. Her abilities were innate.

Regardless of whether they were mutants or not, he decided to enroll the three children into his school.

Especially the little Hawking, whose diverse abilities were suited for combat. His mature mind would keep him in the right path: a perfect candidate for the X-Men.

Although, if Hawking was to be led astray and join Magneto, it would be a massive headache for Charles.

“We are a school dedicated to protecting and guiding mutant children.”

Professor X explained the situation of the school and his objective to everyone in the living room.

Oleg and Iryna pondered in silence.

According to Professor Charles, his mutant school is indeed the most suitable place for these three children to go to school.

They have been worried that their three children will be in danger if their mutant identities are exposed in the future when they go to school in Sokovia.

And Professor Charles did give many similar examples.

They trusted Professor Charles not to deceive them. Somehow, they felt an inexplicable sense of trust.

What really made them hesitate was the distance. New York is far away from Sokovia. They wouldn’t have much chance to meet, and they wouldn’t be able to bear it.

“Professor Charles, we …”

After some consideration, the safety of their children outweighed their reluctance, and they finally decided to let their three children go to school in New York.

But before they could say it, Hawking interrupted them.

“Mom, Dad, can you let me talk to Professor Charles alone?”

“Certainly … no problem. “

Olga and Iryna was stunned for a moment, but they agreed.

Hawking was quite mature, and he was their benefactor. The couple treated Hawking differently to Pietro and Wanda, treating him as more of an equal.

They would respect his opinion, as long as it’s reasonable.

Professor X was also interested in Hawking, who had great potential and even resisted his telepathy. He was curious about what the child would like to say.

The parents and the twins left the living room for the basement.

“Is there anything you want to tell me?”

“Professor, you should know that the country of Sokovia is very unsafe. Even if the war is over and there is a short period of peace, no one knows when the next war will break out.

“I am very worried that my parents would be in danger if we leave them here while we go to your school.

“So I hope the professor can help them to immigrate to New York and find a decent job.”

Hawking said to Charles seriously.

Going to a mutant school is a good choice for him now.

He could cultivate just fine in Sokovia, but it was too slow for his liking, and it wasn’t exactly safe. Civil wars, Hydra, and even total destruction awaited Sokovia.

Of course, the mutant school wasn’t completely safe, but the X-Men was holding strong.

Hawking didn’t really agree with Professor X’s philosophy. He felt that it was too idealistic. But an idealist ally could at least be trusted not to abandon you for personal benefit.

Professor X wasn’t beyond scamming people, but would he be vulnerable to fraud himself?

Anyway, just follow along when it was beneficial, and find a reason to get away when it was no longer profitable. Professor X couldn’t read his mind, after all.

Professor X’s team was still better than Magneto. From the perspective of mutants, Magneto was irresistible. His faith for mutants gave rise to genocidal extremism against non-mutants.

But Magneto wouldn’t think twice from sacrificing fellow mutants for the greater good.

Even Mystique, his most loyal and intimate comrade, wasn’t spared from his merciless warpath.

Hawking aside, who wasn’t a mutant either, Oleg, Iryna, and little Wanda weren’t mutants. Only Pietro was confirmed as one. Professor X also agreed. Magneto would not protect them.

Neither the mutants nor the humans want to be completely wiped out.
