The first rays of the morning sun shone on the curtains as Qi Yun busied himself in his room. He had been working through the night for several days now, and the light in his room had not dimmed once.
Qi Yun yawned and rubbed his face to wake himself up.
In front of him stood a towering device over two meters tall, embedded with a translucent crystal at its centre, surrounded by complex, exquisite patterns.
However, as beautiful as they were, these patterns could not outshine the crystal. If known to the outside world, the energy contained within the crystal would be enough to provoke a global uproar.
Additionally, Qi Yun assembled this device over several evenings according to blueprints and spent nearly a year gathering the materials alone.
Now, it was finally time to test the results.
Flipping a switch, the device began to operate normally, causing the crystal to emit a strong pulse under the influence of an invisible force.
The pulse spread from Qi Yun to the centre, quickly enveloping the entire Earth.
High in the Himalayas, the Supreme Sorceress, the Ancient One, opened her eyes, sensing a strange new power that had just swept over her.
This power exuded a cold, ruthless aura. The Ancient One tried to capture it but failed as the wave came and went swiftly, leaving no trace.
Moreover, when the power spread, there were changes in the river of time that she could neither explore nor deny their inevitable existence.
“A troubled autumn,” the Ancient One murmured, then closed her eyes, returning to her original form.
In New York, Qi Yun anxiously watched the device, its functioning critical to unfolding all his plans.
If it failed, not only would it delay his plans, but Qi Yun would also miss the best opportunity for development.
Fortunately, Qi Yun had always been lucky over the years. Where others failed, he not only survived but thrived with advantages.
“Time anchor successful, world connection successful…”
A cold voice echoed in Qi Yun’s mind, unsurprising as he had heard it countless times before.
“Did it work?” Qi Yun took a deep breath and opened his main god panel.
Cycle Main God: Qi Yun
Contracted Individuals: 0
Linked Worlds: 1
Owned Worlds: 0
“Nice!” Qi Yun exclaimed excitedly.
After all the hustle, it had finally succeeded!
He, a mere main god with only one world core, had succeeded on his first try. He, indeed, was a chosen one.
After fulfilling its purpose, the device stopped operating, and the air moved, turning it to ashes, saving Qi Yun the trouble of disposing of it.
After freshening up, Qi Yun stepped out of his room, and the warm sunlight felt somewhat blinding.
“How long have I been in my room…”
Adjusting to the sunlight, Qi Yun stretched lazily and headed towards a nearby fast-food restaurant.
Most of his time since crossing over had been spent solving identity issues, and the money he had left was only enough for fast food after buying the necessities for constructing his device.
Well, once his career takes off, he vowed to buy a bunch of the best steaks, eat one, throw one, watch one!
Qi Yun chewed his burger as he thought to himself.
The TV in the fast-food restaurant was currently broadcasting an economic program.
“Professor Cain, what do you think about Tony Stark’s disappearance?” the host asked softly.
“The disappearance of that playboy will inevitably affect the overall situation of Stark Industries, as the market has already proven,” Professor Cain said, sitting there looking like an elite scholar.
“Recently, the stock price of Stark Industries has plummeted by thirty per cent. Do you think it will continue to fall further?” the host continued from the script.
“No, you must understand that the drop in stock price is just a short-term adjustment caused by Tony Stark’s disappearance, so fellow investors, this is a perfect opportunity to buy shares of Stark Industries at such a low price, which was unimaginable before!” Professor Cain said with a severe face, spouting nonsense.
The host wasn’t surprised by Cain’s response; after all, the program was backed by Stark Industries stakeholders.
“But Tony Stark is the CEO, after all. His disappearance and uncertain fate, don’t you think that’s a basis for a further decline in the stock price?”
“Haha, I can’t match you, host. As for the economy, you should listen more to the professionals,” Professor Cain laughed heartily before continuing, “Tony Stark is just the CEO in the name; the most important person at Stark Industries is Mr. Obadiah Stane…”
Listening to Cain’s nonsense, Qi Yun yawned. Was this guy treating everyone else like fools on TV?
Anyone with an IQ over fifty could guess that the professor must have taken money from Stane, who is now working to help him take control of Stark Industries.
A
A dying camel is still more significant than a horse; no matter how much Stark Industries’ stock falls, it remains a giant entity.
Casually tossing his trash into the bin, Qi Yun walked out of the fast-food restaurant. If he had the money, he would be short-selling Stark Industries’ stock in the stock market. Knowing the plot, this was a surefire business.
Moreover, once there was news of Tony’s return, he could go long again, then short-sell when Tony shut down the weapons manufacturing division, and finally go long again when Tony publicly revealed his Iron Man identity.
This series of operations would at least multiply his funds several times over, but unfortunately, Qi Yun had more important things to do. Otherwise, as someone with an understanding of economics, he wouldn’t miss such an opportunity!
Walking back to his room, Qi Yun heard the townspeople discussing Tony Stark’s disappearance, a topic that had been the front-page headline for many days!
It’s unknown how many people have gone bankrupt over this incident. After all, Stark Industries was previously as stable as could be.
With Tony Stark in charge, the company’s stocks hardly ever fell. Therefore, a saying circulated in the American investment world is that Stark Industries’ stocks are more valuable than gold and have a high investment value.
However, under the current circumstances, those speculators had suffered terribly, jumping from buildings like dumplings dropping into boiling water.
In his room, Qi Yun drew the curtains and locked the door, temporarily turning the place into a sealed room.
Of course, what happened next wouldn’t be a locked-room murder, as the Shinigami elementary student wasn’t in this world.
