Visibly anxious, Dr. Charles inquired over the communication channel, knowing his daughter was still in Raccoon City, and without Tony’s intervention, he couldn’t save her.
“What are you talking about?” Tony spoke while directing Jarvis to reverse-hack and type out sensitive communications on the computer screen.
[Yes, you are also being monitored. The source is very close to you.]
As Tony and Dr. Charles communicated this way, Alice and the others exchanged glances; their chances of leaving seemed to depend on this, Dr. Charles.
After some discussion, the side mission was officially integrated.
Find Angela
Mission Brief: Dr. Charles’s daughter Angela was supposed to evacuate with the Umbrella troops but got stranded in a school due to an accident. Dr. Charles has requested your help to rescue Angela…
Mission Information: Locate and protect Angela until she can be safely evacuated from Raccoon City.
Mission Reward: 1000 Main God Points, 1 Merit Point.
Having confirmed the mission details, Tony ended the conversation with Dr. Charles.
“It looks like we have a destination,” Tony told the others.
According to Jarvis’s route planning, there were two suitable paths from the church to the school: one safer on foot and another better for driving with less traffic congestion.
They decisively chose the latter.
In the car, Jill and the others kept asking Alice about her current situation, as she seemed a bit more approachable than Tony.
“Why don’t we just find a secure place to hide instead? I don’t want to accept that doctor’s request!” Peyton grumbled discontentedly.
“A secure place? Something that can withstand a nuclear bomb?” Tony checked his armor and responded without looking back.
“What do you mean?”
“Before dawn, a nuclear weapon equivalent to 5,000 tons of TNT will be dropped on Raccoon City, erasing all traces of the zombies and the outbreak,” Alice added to Tony’s explanation.
“They wouldn’t dare!” Peyton shouted. “The press will expose them! No one will let them get away with this!”
“They won’t…” a journalist in the car shook her head, looking pale, “They surely have a pretext ready. There’s a nuclear plant nearby…”
“Damn!” Peyton knew the journalist was proper; he banged the car door in frustration and winced as he touched his wound.
Suddenly, Alice pointed her gun at Peyton, and in response, Jill aimed her gun at Alice, creating a tense standoff in the car.
“Have you been bitten?” Alice asked Peyton.
After hesitating, Peyton nodded.
“What are you going to do!” Jill’s gun inched closer to Alice.
“He’ll turn into one of those things soon. It’ll be more trouble if we don’t deal with it now!” Alice explained.
Jill lowered her gun and placed her hand on Alice’s gun barrel. “If it comes to that, I’ll handle it.”
The two strong-willed women locked eyes briefly before Alice lowered her weapon, “As you wish.”
“Also, sorry.” Alice looked at Peyton. “But you know, you’ll be like them in an hour or two.”
Sitting in the back, Tony ignored their exchange as he and Jarvis tried to contact Red Queen. If they could get help from Red Queen, they might save more people.
Unfortunately, by the time they reached the school, Tony had received no response, as if there were no AI in the network.
“Everyone else search the other floors in pairs, shoot on sight, and I’ll come when I hear it,” Tony directed as they stood at the school entrance. This school, known for its long history and high educational standards, was not modernized.
Surveillance was a total of blind spots; Tony could only see parts of the corridors through Jarvis, and Angela’s movements were not visible.
The teams were easily divided, with Jill taking Peyton and Alice with the journalist.
With Tony, the armored engineer, the task of searching the building was not so daunting.
Soon, Alice found Angela hiding in a cabinet.
The two seemed to click right away, perhaps because they both had needle marks, a shared ordeal that brought them closer.
“Can I see your bag?” Alice asked Angela, who clutched it tightly.
Angela hesitated, unsure about the strangers her father had sent.
“You know I won’t hurt you,” Alice said gently.
After a moment, Angela handed over the bag.
Inside was a thermally insulated metal container containing several green vials.
“What is this?!” Alice was startled.
“Antidote for the T-virus,” Angela whispered.
“How do you have this?”
“My dad gave it to me to treat my condition…”
As Angela explained, Jill helped Peyton into the room; the T-virus nearly overcame his immune system.
Alice patted Peyton on the shoulder, “You’re lucky this time.”
“What?” Peyton looked up weakly at Alice.
Alice pulled out
A syringe and a vial of the antidote, tearing Peyton’s shirt sleeve to inject it.
“This is the T-virus antidote, but you’ve been infected too long, not sure if it will still work,” Alice explained.
“Thank you,” Peyton shifted and sat down, leaning back in the chair.
Tony knelt, deep in thought, as he looked at the antidote.
As one of Marvel’s most renowned scientists, Tony’s expertise was not limited to mechanics; he was also knowledgeable in biology.
In Tony’s view, the most valuable things in this world were the T-virus and its antidote, even more so than the AI.
After finding Angela, Tony took the initiative to contact Dr. Charles again.
The two communicated seamlessly, talking while typing out their honest thoughts.
During this process, Dr. Charles lent Tony his internal network access.
With this network pass, Tony quickly gained access to the internal network and found most of the information on the T-virus.
Tony downloaded this information and saved it in Jarvis’s system, which was secured with multiple protection locks. If this information leaked, it could trigger another biohazard crisis, possibly worse than a zombie Hulk scenario, assuming the T-virus could infect the Hulk.
