Marvel Rise of Lord God Chapter 12

Memory Awakening

Alice, like the Red Queen, felt the changes in the world. As individuals who had cycled through countless iterations, they were susceptible to any alteration. However, due to the incomplete recovery of her cyclical memories, Alice’s mind was flooded with images—some captured by the Umbrella Corporation and others from future zombie outbreaks.

“Alice?” Seeing something was off with Alice as their mission neared its conclusion, Tony looked at her anxiously.

“I’m fine,” Alice said, pressing her temples and waving her hand dismissively. “Did you finish talking to Dr. Charles? Where’s the last helicopter?”

“It’s near the hospital, not too far from here,” Tony replied, his concern evident. It seemed they needed to hurry.

Meanwhile, after the call ended, Dr. Charles was captured by Cain, the head of Umbrella’s operations in Raccoon City.

“Computers, like people, can’t always be relied upon, can they?” Cain said coldly to Charles. “You thought I didn’t know anything?”

Charles looked up at Cain with an expressionless face, suddenly smiling—a smile that seemed to say, “Guess whether I knew that you thought I didn’t know.”

Shortly after that, Charles was escorted out of the safe zone by Umbrella soldiers, but Cain couldn’t shake off Charles’s smile from his mind, suspecting that the situation might be slipping out of his control.

“Redirect the Nemesis’s course!” Cain shouted in the control room. “I want those test subjects to start their trials before they arrive!”

Commands were issued, directing Matt, under chip control in his brain, towards the path Alice and her group were taking.

Alice and the others were recording themselves in front of the camera in the car, hoping to use the footage to expose the truth if they managed to escape.

Tony sat aside, not participating in the filming. Jarvis had compiled all information about the zombies into a multimedia document that would be broadcast over wireless networks to all terminals once their mission ended—a far more effective strategy than traditional media reporting.

“Warning! Special target detected!” Jarvis alerted upon spotting Matt.

Seeing the tracker’s muscular, grotesque form, Tony felt disgusted.

“Based on data analysis, the special target is a bioweapon developed by the Umbrella Corporation, equipped with a Gatling gun and an RPG launcher,” Jarvis continued. “The target has a regenerative ability, immune to most conventional weapons, including large-caliber bullets!”

As they prepared to confront Matt, Cain at the Umbrella command center sensed something was wrong. Alice and her team had stopped, and Matt’s signals were erratic as if being interfered with.

“Boss, we’ve reached the planned engagement point,” a technician informed Cain.

Cain looked at the proximity of the two points and hesitated, then ordered, “Let the Nemesis engage. Target: Alice.”

“Understood.”

Under Cain’s command, it took Matt only a few minutes to reach where Alice’s team had stopped their car. However, by then, the area was empty.

“Access all nearby cameras and find Alice!” Cain’s anxiety grew, but he couldn’t pinpoint the source of the problem.

The control room’s screens flickered, leaving only the one controlling Matt active.

Tony had instructed Jarvis to sever all Umbrella’s control over the surveillance systems, leaving them only an encrypted signal line to control Matt.

Before Cain could issue a retreat command, Matt’s control system detected Alice’s presence.

Matt then locked his attack focus on Alice, but before he could act, a tremendous force struck his head, driving it into the ground—a successful physical disconnection!

With all detection methods lost, Cain panicked as Charles’s mocking smile resurfaced in his mind.

“Damn, what exactly did that guy do?” Cain, furious, pushed past the guards and charged at Charles.

As Tony brought Matt to the ground in Raccoon City and prepared his laser emitter, Alice shouted, “Wait!”

“What?” Tony paused just as a powerful surge from Matt knocked him and his armor over.

Alice, touching her head, recognized Matt as one of the survivors who had escaped the Hive with her. Additionally, she recalled all the plot lines; this was the earliest in her many cycles that her memories had returned.

Matt picked up a Gatling gun and aimed it at Alice, but his orders still influenced his actions.

Alice extended her hand, and with a surge of telekinetic power, she seized control of Matt. She then clenched her fist in the air, twisting the Gatling gun into a twisted metal strand under her telekinetic assault.

Behind Alice, Peyton and Jill were stunned. Tony’s armor was something they could understand—a high-tech combat suit. But Alice’s powers? Why hadn’t she used them from the start?

Tony swallowed hard, impressed by Alice’s combat abilities.

“Jarvis, remind me to reinforce the armor’s shell when we return,” Tony said.

It was time to consider the development of an “Anti-Alice Armor.”
