The flow of time is relative, and for Ajie and his group, who have their days fully scheduled, a few days or a week pass in the blink of an eye.
“Lee, no training today. Go watch the match.”
Early in the morning, as soon as Lee arrived at the training ground, Ajie, who was already there, told him.
“Right! The match!” Lee clapped his hands, having almost forgotten about it amidst the busyness. It was no wonder Guy wasn’t here; he usually was one of the earliest to arrive.
After Lee left, Ajie turned back around.
He, Alice, and Tony formed a circle with a holographic map of the Leaf Village projected by Tony in the centre.
“The main urban area and key facilities of the Leaf are all surrounded by a giant wall,” Tony said, looking at the map.
“This wall might have been useful against ancient attacks, but now, I can’t see its use, perhaps only for collecting city entrance fees,” Tony commented with a slight critique.
After his remark, Tony snapped his fingers, and suddenly, the map was filled with numerous red dots.
“These are suspected enemy troops Alice has detected using her psychic powers over time, totalling two hundred twenty-two, all dispersed in the forests outside the Leaf Village walls,” Tony continued.
“Based on the information we have, we can be pretty sure that there are insiders in the Leaf; otherwise, these people would have to storm and breach the defences genuinely.”
“Although the military strength of the Leaf has been declining over the years, it hasn’t weakened to the point where a mere two hundred plus ninjas could breach it,” Tony said while analysing various pieces of intelligence organised by J.A.R.V.I.S.
Ajie was somewhat confused, as his mind had been filled with the popularisation issues of the Eight Gates, leaving no spare capacity to think about this.
Only Alice was following Tony’s line of thought, their eyes brightening as they spoke as if they had seen through the so-called Leaf collapse plan.
“Ajie!” Tony pulled Ajie back from his distracted state.
“Huh?” Ajie blinked, “Are you assigning me a task? Just tell me.”
“We’ll split it into two parts. You and Alice go to the Chunin Exam venue to prevent the enemy from causing chaos there in coordination with the external ninja attack,” Tony assigned the tasks.
“And you? Are you against over two hundred ninjas by yourself? Do you think you’re in Dynasty Warriors?” Ajie asked, puzzled.
“How could that be? I’m just supposed to hold them off until you guys handle the enemy inside, then come out and help,” Tony explained as he opened his personal space, and three suits of armour floated next to him.
“If this Leaf collapse plan really intends to bring down the Leaf, then the main targets will definitely be the Leaf’s upper echelons, which means the enemy’s main forces will all be inside, like a sharp knife thrust directly into the command centre.”
“Wait, wait, didn’t you say the inside enemies are mainly to cause chaos in coordination with the outside?” Ajie interrupted.
“It’s quite normal. Main forces and support can interchange,” Tony explained.
“The inside forces cause chaos. The outside forces attack full strength, spreading the Leaf’s combat capabilities thin, reducing the defensive forces near key personnel, and then delivering a fatal blow. This is standard special warfare.”
“Okay, I don’t quite understand,” Ajie scratched the back of his head, thinking that assassination operations don’t need to be this complicated; just wiping everyone out would be the best assassination.
“No worries, you and Alice just need to focus on protecting the Third Hokage. I’ll handle the rest,” Tony was confident.
The tactics of this world of the Leaf are still very ancient, after all.
After dividing their tasks, the three of them began to move.
Tony immediately went to the location, most likely for an enemy attack, as analysed. This area outside the city walls had many trees, making it the best place to conceal movements; if he were the enemy, he would also start the attack from here.
The Chunin Exam proceeded methodically.
Until that moment, people finally remembered the fear they once felt under domination.
A giant summoned beast, comparable in size to the Nine-Tails Fox, appeared outside the wall during the exam.
The immense city wall only reached the summoned beast’s neck, and its terrifying strength shattered the wall with ease.
Inside the wall, only a few Chunin were on routine alert, and their power was too weak to withstand such a sudden assault.
A few explosive tags detonated on the giant serpent, failing even to scratch its scales.
“It’s my turn to enter the scene,” Tony said as the mask of his armour slid into place.
Anti-Ajie armour, Anti-Alice armour, and the latest custom Mark armour strike!
Just as the Sound ninjas breached the Leaf Village gate, before they could rejoice, numerous lasers fell from the sky.
Before they could react, the lasers passed through the air around them. Indeed, Tony’s target was not the ninjas themselves but the ground beneath their feet.
In an instant, the interwoven lasers etched a giant seal on the ground.
After the seal was completed, it lit up brilliantly. The leading Sound ninja’s pupils contracted as he realised what was under his feet—a magnified explosive tag.
Boom, boom, boom! A terrifying explosion swept through the newly breached gap.
Magnitude equals justice!
Under such a massive explosion, the first wave of ninjas and summoned creatures were virtually annihilated.
However, it seemed they were under a death order; despite heavy losses, wave after wave of ninjas continued to jump in from the outside as if they were on a suicide mission.
The hastily made laser emitters were all overloaded, as etching explosive tags while inputting enough energy demands too much from the materials.
It was already impressive that the hastily assembled multi-barrel laser emitter worked even once.
Tony directly confronted the numerous ninjas, with the remaining firepower of the three suits of armour slowing down their assault.
Additionally, the massive explosion alerted the ninja families and the regular troops of the Leaf Village. Everyone except those at the Chunin exam site, including the Hyuga family and other clan ninjas like Ino-Shika-Cho, rushed over.
The only ones not seen were probably those held in Danzo’s hands from the Root division.
Just when Tony thought he was about to achieve a complete victory, messages from Alice and Ajie immediately dampened his spirits.
“Tony! Be careful! Orochimaru isn’t at the exam site! You guessed wrong!” Alice’s message frantically popped up in the team channel.
Ajie’s message was much more concise, “Tony! You’ve got powerful enemies on your side!”
