“Damn it!” Tony cursed. He had suspected a mission might appear in his world, just as in Alice’s, but he hadn’t anticipated it happening so soon.
Especially since, in any view, the Marvel World was always one of the most unique, Tony had studied the personnel distribution of the Main God Space.
Apart from a few veterans like Ajay, most of the qualifiers were selected from his side of Earth, and Tony even suspected he was among the first qualifiers to enter the Main God Space.
“Jarvis, dial Nick Fury’s number; this must have something to do with S.H.I.E.L.D.! Those fools, always stirring up trouble instead of doing real work.” Tony’s first reaction upon seeing the mission was to think of S.H.I.E.L.D.
“Sir, Director Fury called you fifteen minutes ago, and you have his number blocked. Should I unblock it?” Jarvis inquired.
“Unblock it!”
Meanwhile, Nie Lu was monitoring the building, and Kingpin suddenly stood up, his massive frame causing the entire floor to tremble.
He was delighted; finally, his status as the underground kingpin could play a role in a mission.
“Gather all the elite troops; we have work to do!” Kingpin shouted at his subordinates.
“Yes, boss! But about S.H.I.E.L.D., should we set the rendezvous point outside New York City?”
“S.H.I.E.L.D.?” Hearing these words, Kingpin chuckled, “Haha, do you believe they have time for us right now? They’re probably figuring out how to explain everything to their superiors, especially with the Tesseract and the invaders. This mess is surely tied to them somehow.”
Kingpin spoke with certainty. His knowledge of S.H.I.E.L.D. assured him of this fact.
At that moment, I was far away in a remote command post in China.
A man dressed as a Taoist priest checked his equipment while another guy was shadowboxing into the air.
“Hey, guys, the application has been approved; we leave for S.H.I.E.L.D. in twenty minutes. Any last words?” A handsome man with a long sword suddenly appeared in front of them.
“Send my regards to Director Fury. I never thought I’d get a mission in my world. It has disrupted my training schedule, and it’s quite annoying.” The boxer spoke without turning his head.
“Better deliver your greetings; I’m not speaking to that guy,” the swordsman replied, “And you? Taoist?”
“Prepare more materials for me. I have a feeling this won’t be easy to resolve,” the Taoist priest said, opening his eyes; he had been feeling restless recently.
These three were the top combat forces of the China camp in the Main God Space, and Director Fury had long wanted to recruit them for the Avengers initiative, although his plans hadn’t panned out due to various reasons.
This time, they took the initiative to apply for a field assignment, considering it was their duty to clean up the mess, given the innocents involved.
Such incidents were happening worldwide, and the startling event triggered by S.H.I.E.L.D. led everyone to doubt their ability to resolve it alone.
Nick Fury carefully removed the Tesseract from its housing and placed it in a briefcase at the S.H.I.E.L.D. research base.
During this process, Dr. Selvig, Hawkeye Barton, and others had already fallen under Loki’s control through the Mind Stone in his wand.
The phone rang.
“Put down the case!” Loki commanded, turning to face Fury, his every move monitored by the Asgardian.
“Is that necessary?” Fury slowly turned to face Loki.
“I came for it. I am from Asgard, and this is a grand mission beyond your

“Then perhaps you could explain it to me,” Fury continued.
“Sir, Director Fury is stalling for time,” the controlled Barton quickly stepped up to Loki, exposing Fury’s strategy.
“Yes, master, the portal will completely collapse in three minutes, and we will be buried under the rocks,” Dr. Selvig added.
“So it is,” Loki mused.
Bang! Barton raised his gun and fired at Fury, then carried the briefcase towards the exit along with a few others.
Just finishing up with the equipment, Agent Hill arrived in time to see Barton and the group leaving.
“Barton, who is he?” Hill felt something was off and pointed at Loki.
“He didn’t tell me to inform you,” Barton replied, taking the driver’s seat.
Hill was puzzled when she suddenly heard Fury’s voice in her earpiece, “Agent Hill! Barton has betrayed us!”
Hearing this, Hill instantly leaped to the side as Barton’s bullet hit the ground where she had been standing.
Fury exhaled, grateful for the bulletproof vest always worn under his clothes.
After a few seconds, Fury dashed towards the door; the portal was about to explode, indiscriminately affecting friend and foe. By a narrow margin, Fury managed to board a helicopter, narrowly escaping a grim fate.
Having escaped the scene, Fury pulled out his phone, which showed a missed call from Tony Stark.
Just in time, Fury was about to reach out to Stark to discuss the recent events, as now was the time to unite all forces against a common enemy.
