Broly snatched the knife away from Dr. Connors. With his regenerative abilities weakened, if he pierced his carotid artery, he might not survive.
“You need to understand one thing: I saved you, so your life belongs to me now.” He tossed the knife back to Cade. “You have no choice but to work for me.”
Even if the police were slow in identifying the Lizard, Oscorp would surely link Dr. Connors to the cross-species genetics project. As a large corporation with its own armed forces, Oscorp would either have him imprisoned or turn him into a test subject.
After Broly stopped him, Dr. Connors’ will to live resurfaced. He lowered his head, seemingly drained of all energy. The fall from being a department head at Oscorp to a fugitive was hard for him to accept.
“What do you need me to do?” he asked.
Broly gestured for Cade to take Dr. Connors to clean up while he himself sat down at the dining table to eat. Since practicing the Nine Transformations of True Martial God Qi, his appetite had increased again.
Even the legendary Super Saiyan required food to convert into energy. Relying solely on absorbing the universe’s energy was insufficient.
If he focused inward, the five colors of light from his internal organs nearly filled his vision. The edges of his heart were almost translucent.
Broly had reached an unprecedented level in the third stage of training, with his organs showing signs of semi-energy transformation. In the scroll detailing the Nine Transformations of True Martial God, Qi did not mention such phenomena. He wouldn’t rush into the fourth stage if his organs could still absorb and circulate energy.
Recently, his physical attributes had increased to 15 points. His body was almost constantly in peak condition, needing only two to three hours of sleep to stay energized. Deep wounds could stop bleeding within five minutes and heal in three to five days.
The combination of a Super Saiyan’s physique and the Nine Transformations of True Martial God Qi was pushing him beyond mortal limits.
After splitting off his evil persona, Dr. Connors could now switch between his lizard and human forms. He had regrown his arm lost in the war, and it didn’t disappear even in human form.
He looked much better after a shower and changing into Cade’s old clothes.
Broly, having eaten his fill, took Dr. Connors to a medical pod installed in the bathroom.
“This is a Frieza Force medical pod. No matter how severe the injury, as long as there’s no brain death, this pod can fully heal it. However, it requires a nutrient solution, and I need you to analyze its components.”
There was about a cup of the nutrient solution left from the last treatment to use as a sample.
Dr. Connors examined the strange-looking pod, even opening it to study the internal structure. After more than an hour, he exclaimed in amazement.
“It’s incredible. The technology in this pod is about eighty years ahead of Earth’s. If we could decipher it, all surgeons would be out of work! Even Stephen Strange wouldn’t be needed anymore!”
As a biology and medical professor, Dr. Connors had often dealt with Stephen Strange, and their interactions were rarely pleasant.
With a new goal, Dr. Connors’ spirits lifted, even more so than when he was working on the cross-species genetics project. That project had proven unworkable, as foreign genes altered the host’s personality, an experience he didn’t want to repeat.
But the medical pod was different. It didn’t require gene transplantation and would be much easier to get through the FDA, with almost no side effects. It was perfect.
“Your current task is to figure out how to produce the nutrient solution,” Broly said.
“Of course, but I’ll need a lot of equipment. With just this sample, I can’t do much,” Dr. Connors said eagerly.
Large experimental instruments and medical equipment were very expensive. Even the billion dollars Broly had just acquired would barely make a dent. Moreover, many instruments weren’t available for purchase; they were produced only by companies like Stark Industries and Oscorp for their internal labs.
“Can you complete the analysis and experiments in Oscorp’s lab?” Broly asked.
“Definitely. Oscorp’s achievements in biology and medical fields are world-leading, akin to Stark Industries in the weapons sector. My lab has the world’s most advanced equipment. Unfortunately, I can’t return there to work,” Dr. Connors said, pained.
“Then we’ll raid Oscorp and take all the equipment we need,” Broly suggested.
Saiyans usually don’t pay for things.
“No… that’s impossible. Oscorp’s security forces…” Dr. Connors trailed off, remembering his helplessness against Broly. This man’s strength defied common sense.
“But the equipment is huge. We need at least three or four containers and time to dismantle it all carefully,” he said. The instruments were very delicate, and rough handling would destroy them.
“Don’t worry. Take all the time you need. I’ll secure the area, and we have plenty of manpower. They’re very professional,” Broly said, referring to the assassins on the farm. They were elite, capable of dismantling equipment and holding off Oscorp’s security and the NYPD.
“All you need to do is draw detailed blueprints of the Oscorp building and train my men to dismantle the equipment properly.”
